सीरा॑ युञ्जन्ति क॒वयो॑ यु॒गा वि त॑न्वते॒ पृथ॑क् । धीरा॑ दे॒वेषु॑ सुम्न॒यौ ॥ (१)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
बुद्धिमान लोग बैलों को हल में जोतते हैं. देवों को सुखकर अन्न प्राप्ति की इच्छा से वे बैलों के कंधों पर जुआ रखते हैं. (१)
EN English Translation
Wise people plough bulls into ploughs. With the desire to get food by pleasing the gods, they gamble on the shoulders of bulls. (1)
यु॒नक्त॒ सीरा॒ वि यु॒गा त॑नोत कृ॒ते योनौ॑ वपते॒ह बीज॑म् । वि॒राजः॒ श्नुष्टिः॒ सभ॑रा असन्नो॒ नेदी॑य॒ इत्सृ॒ण्यः॑ प॒क्वमा य॑वन् ॥ (२)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे किसानो! हलों को जुओं से युक्त करो और जुओं को बैलों के कंधों पर स्थापित करो. अंकुर उगने योग्य इस जुते हुए खेत में गेहूं, जौ आदि बीजों को बोओ. हमारे अन्न के पौधे दानों के भार वाले हों. शीघ्र ही वे पौधे पक कर दरांती का स्पर्श पाने योग्य हो जाएं. (२)
EN English Translation
O farmers! Cover the ploughs with lice and place the lice on the shoulders of the bulls. Sow seeds like wheat, barley, etc. in this growing field. Our food plants should be loaded with grains. Soon those plants will ripen and become worthy of the touch of the tree. (2)
लाङ्ग॑लं पवी॒रव॑त्सु॒शीमं॑ सोम॒सत्स॑रु । उदिद्व॑पतु॒ गामविं॑ प्र॒स्थाव॑द्रथ॒वाह॑नं॒ पीब॑रीं च प्रफ॒र्व्य॑म् ॥ (३)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
लोहे के फाल वाला हल कृषि योग्य खेत को सुख देता है. गेहूं, जौ आदि धान्य की उत्पत्ति का कारण होने से यह हल सोमयाग का कर्ता है. हल का भाग फाल भूमि के भीतर रह कर गति करता है. यह हल गाय आदि पशुओं की समृद्धि का कारण बने. (३)
EN English Translation
Iron-laden plough gives happiness to the cultivable field. Due to the origin of grains like wheat, barley, etc., this solution is the creator of somayag. The part of the plough moves by staying within the ground. This solution should cause prosperity of animals like cows etc. (3)
इन्द्रः॒ सीतां॒ नि गृ॑ह्णातु॒ तां पू॒षाभि र॑क्षतु । सा नः॒ पय॑स्वती दुहा॒मुत्त॑रामुत्तरां॒ समा॑म् ॥ (४)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
इंद्र हल द्वारा खेत में बनाई गई रेखा अर्थात् कूंड़ को ग्रहण करें तथा पूषा देव उस की रक्षा करें. हल से जुती हुई भूमि हमें अभिमत फल देने वाली बन कर सभी वर्षो में जौ, गेहूं आदि अन्न दे. (४)
EN English Translation
Take the line made by Indra Plough in the field i.e. the trunk and Pusha Dev should protect it. The ploughed land should give us food like barley, wheat etc. in all years by becoming the one who gives us the desired fruit. (4)
शु॒नं सु॑फा॒ला वि तु॑दन्तु॒ भूमिं॑ शु॒नं की॒नाशा॒ अनु॑ यन्तु वा॒हान् । शुना॑सीरा ह॒विषा॒ तोश॑माना सुपिप्प॒ला ओष॑धीः कर्तम॒स्मै ॥ (५)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
सुंदर फाल अर्थात् हल के लोहे वाले भाग हमें सुख देते हुए भूमि को जोते. किसान हमें सुख देते हुए बैलों के पीछे चलें. हे सूर्य और वायु! तुम हमारे द्वारा दिए गए हवि से संतुष्ट होते हुए इस यजमान के लिए जौ, गेहूं आदि के पौधों को शोभन बालियों से युक्त करो. (५)
EN English Translation
The beautiful fal i.e. the iron parts of the plough plough us plough the land while giving us happiness. Farmers should follow the bulls while giving us happiness. O sun and wind! Satisfied with the havi given by us, keep the plants of barley, wheat, etc. with ornamental earrings for this host. (5)
शु॒नं वा॒हाः शु॒नं नरः॑ शु॒नं कृ॑षतु॒ लाङ्ग॑लम् । शु॒नं व॑र॒त्रा ब॑ध्यन्तां शु॒नमष्ट्रा॒मुदि॑ङ्गय ॥ (६)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
बैल और किसान सुखपूर्वक हल जोतें. हल सुखपूर्वक धरती को फाड़े. रस्सियां सुखपूर्वक बांधी जाएं. हे शुनः अर्थात् वायु देव! तुम बैलों के हांकने के लिए प्रयुक्त होने वाले चाबुक को सुखपूर्वक प्रेरणा दो. (६)
EN English Translation
Bulls and farmers plough happily. Plough the earth happily. Ropes should be tied happily. O Shunah i.e. Vayu Dev! You should gladly inspire the whip used to drive the bulls. (6)
शुना॑सीरे॒ह स्म॑ मे जुषेथाम् । यद्दि॒वि च॒क्रथुः॒ पय॒स्तेनेमामुप॑ सिञ्चतम् ॥ (७)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे सूर्य और वायु देव! तुम इस खेत में मेरा हवि ग्रहण करो. सूर्य और वायु दोनों ने आकाश में बादलों के रूप में जो जल पहुंचाया है, उस से वर्षा के रूप में इस जुती हुई भूमि को सींचों. (७)
EN English Translation
O God of sun and wind! You accept my havi in this field. Both the sun and the wind have brought water to the sky in the form of clouds, watering this frozen land in the form of rain. (7)
सीते॒ वन्दा॑महे त्वा॒र्वाची॑ सुभगे भव । यथा॑ नः सु॒मना॒ असो॒ यथा॑ नः सुफ॒ला भुवः॑ ॥ (८)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे जुती हुई भूमि! हम तुझे नमस्कार करते हैं. हे सुंदर भाग्य वाली भूमि! तू हमारे अनुकूल बन. तू जिस प्रकार से हमारे अनुकूल मन वाली हो, उसी प्रकार हमें शोभन फल देने वाली हो जा. (८)
EN English Translation
O old land! We salute you. O land of beautiful fate! You are friendly to us. Just as you are friendly to us, so become the one who gives us the fruits. (8)
घृ॒तेन॒ सीता॒ मधु॑ना॒ सम॑क्ता॒ विश्वै॑र्दे॒वैरनु॑मता म॒रुद्भिः॑ । सा नः॑ सीते॒ पय॑सा॒भ्याव॑वृ॒त्स्वोर्ज॑स्वती घृ॒तव॒त्पिन्व॑माना ॥ (९)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे जुती हुई भूमि! तू मधुर स्वाद वाले जल से भली प्रकार सिंची हुई हो कर तथा विश्वे देव और मरुतों द्वारा अनुमति पा कर जल सहित हमारे सामने आ. तू शक्ति संपन्न हो कर घी से मिले हुए अन्न को सींचने वाली है. (९)
EN English Translation
O land of old! You are well irrigated with sweet tasted water and come before us with water after getting permission from the gods and maruts. (9)
