यौ ते॑ मा॒तोन्म॒मार्ज॑ जा॒तायाः॑ पति॒वेद॑नौ । दु॒र्णामा॒ तत्र॒ मा गृ॑धद॒लिंश॑ उ॒त व॒त्सपः॑ ॥ (१)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे गर्भिणी! तेरे जन्म लेने के समय तेरी माता ने पति को प्राप्त होने वाले जो दुर्नाम और सुनाम नामक दो उन्मार्जन किए थे, उन में त्वचा के दोष से सुगंधित दुर्नाम तेरी इच्छा न करे अर्थात् तुझे प्राप्त न हो तथा अलीश एवं वत्सप नामक रोग भी तुझे न हों. (१)
EN English Translation
This pregnant woman! At the time of your birth, your mother should not want you to be scented with skin defects in the two vows called Durnam and Sunam, which were received by your husband, that is, you should not get it and you should not have diseases called Alish and Vatsap. (1)
प॑लालानुपला॒लौ शर्कुं॒ कोकं॑ मलिम्लु॒चं प॒लीज॑कम् । आ॒श्रेषं॑ व॒व्रिवा॑सस॒मृक्ष॑ग्रीवं प्रमी॒लिन॑म् ॥ (२)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
गर्भिणी को पीड़ा पहुंचाने वाले जो पलाल, अनुपलाल, शर्कु, कोक, मलिम्लुच, पलीजक, आश्रेष, वब्रिवास, ऋक्षग्रीव एवं प्रमीली नामक राक्षस हैं, मैं उन सब का विनाश करता हूं. (२)
EN English Translation
I destroy all those demons named Palal, Anuplal, Sharku, Kok, Malimluch, Palijak, Ashresh, Vabrivas, Rikshgreva and Pramili who hurt the pregnant woman. (2)
मा सं वृ॑तो॒ मोप॑ सृप ऊ॒रू माव॑ सृपोऽन्त॒रा । कृ॒णोम्य॑स्यै भेष॒जं ब॒जं दु॑र्णाम॒चात॑नम् ॥ (३)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे दुर्नाम रोग से संबंधित राक्षस! इस गर्भिणी की जंघाओं के मध्य में संकोच उत्पन्न मत कर तथा उन के भीतर प्रवेश भी मत कर. तू गर्भिणी की जंघाओं के नीचे की ओर भी मत खिसक. इस गर्भिणी से संबंधित सफेद सरसों के रूप में मैं जो ओषधि तैयार करता हूं, वह दुर्नाम रोग का विनाश करने वाली है. (३)
EN English Translation
O demon related to Durnam disease! Do not hesitate between the thighs of this pregnant woman and do not even enter them. Do not even slip downwards of the thighs of the pregnant woman. The medicine I prepare in the form of white mustard related to this womb is going to destroy the disease. (3)
दु॒र्णामा॑ च सु॒नामा॑ चो॒भा सं॒वृत॑मिच्छतः । अ॒राया॒नप॑ हन्मः सु॒नामा॒ स्त्रैण॑मिच्छताम् ॥ (४)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
दुर्नाम और सुनाम नामक दोनों रोग एक साथ ही संचरण करना चाहते हैं. मैं उन में से दुर्नाम को नष्ट करता हूं, जो सुंदरता का विरोधी है. सुनाम स्त्री की इच्छा करने वाला हो. (४)
EN English Translation
Both diseases called Durnam and Sunam want to be transmitted simultaneously. I destroy durnam, one of them, who is opposed to beauty. You are going to want a woman. (4)
यः कृ॒ष्णः के॒श्यसु॑र स्तम्ब॒ज उ॒त तुण्डि॑कः । अ॒राया॑नस्या मु॒ष्काभ्यां॒ भंस॒सोऽप॑ हन्मसि ॥ (५)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
जो कृष्णकेशी, स्तंबज एवं तुंडिक नामक असुर हैं, ये सब दुर्भाग्य रूपी रोग हैं. मैं इन्हें गर्भिणी की जंघाओं तथा कमर से दूर करता हूं. (५)
EN English Translation
Those who are asuras named Krishnakeshi, Stambaj and Tundik, all these are diseases of misfortune. I remove them from the thighs and waist of the womb. (5)
अ॑नुजि॒घ्रं प्र॑मृ॒शन्तं॑ क्र॒व्याद॑मु॒त रे॑रि॒हम् । अ॒रायां॑छ्वकि॒ष्किणो॑ ब॒जः पि॒ङ्गो अ॑नीनशत् ॥ (६)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
अनुजिष्र, प्रमृशन्त, कृव्याद एवं रेरिह नामक जो सुंदरता विनाशक रोगों से संबंधित राक्षस हैं, मैं ने पीली सरसों रूपी ओषधि के द्वारा इन सभी हिंसकों का विनाश कर दिया है. (६)
EN English Translation
The demons named Anujishra, Pramrishant, Krivyad and Rerih, who are related to beauty-destroying diseases, I have destroyed all these violent people through the medicine of yellow mustard. (6)
यस्त्वा॒ स्वप्ने॑ नि॒पद्य॑ते॒ भ्राता॑ भू॒त्वा पि॒तेव॑ च । ब॒जस्तान्त्स॑हतामि॒तः क्ली॒बरू॑पांस्तिरी॒टिनः॑ ॥ (७)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे गर्भिणी! जो राक्षस तेरी स्वप्न अवस्था में सहोदर भ्राता एवं पिता के समान विश्वास उत्पन्न करता हुआ गर्भ नष्ट करने के विचार से तुझ में प्रवेश करता है, मैं सफेद सरसों रूपी ओषधि के द्वारा इन सब को तथा नपुंसक का रूप बना कर घूमने वाले सभी राक्षसों का विनाश करता हूं. (७)
EN English Translation
This pregnant woman! The demon who enters you with the thought of destroying the womb, instilling faith like a brother and father in your dream state, I destroy all these and all the demons who roam around as impotent through white mustard medicine. (7)
यस्त्वा॑ स्व॒पन्तीं॒ त्सर॑ति॒ यस्त्वा॒ दिप्स॑ति॒ जाग्र॑तीम् । छा॒यामि॑व॒ प्र तान्त्सूर्यः॑ परि॒क्राम॑न्ननीनशत् ॥ (८)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे गर्भिणी! जो राक्षस सोते समय तेरे समीप आता है अथवा जो जाग्रत अवस्था में तेरी हिंसा करना चाहता है, यह सरसों उन सब को उसी प्रकार नष्ट कर दे, जिस प्रकार आकाश में विचरण करने वाला सूर्य अंधकार का विनाश करता है. (८)
EN English Translation
This pregnant woman! May the demon who comes near you while sleeping or who wants to do violence to you in a waking state, may this mustard destroy them all in the same way as the sun that roams in the sky destroys darkness. (8)
यः कृ॒णोति॑ मृ॒तव॑त्सा॒मव॑तोकामि॒मां स्त्रिय॑म् । तमो॑षधे॒ त्वं ना॑शया॒स्याः क॒मल॑मञ्जि॒वम् ॥ (९)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
जो राक्षस गर्भिणी को मरे हुए पुत्र वाली बनाता है अथवा जो उसे नष्टगर्भ वाली बनाता है, हे सरसों रूपी ओषधि! तू उस दुष्ट का विनाश कर तथा इस के गर्भ द्वार को स्पष्ट कर. (९)
EN English Translation
The demon who makes the pregnant woman with a dead son or who makes her a destroyed woman, O mustard medicine! Destroy the wicked one and make clear his womb. (9)
ये शालाः॑ परि॒नृत्य॑न्ति सा॒यं ग॑र्दभना॒दिनः॑ । कु॒सूला॒ ये च॑ कुक्षि॒लाः क॑कु॒भाः क॒रुमाः॒ स्रिमाः॑ । तानो॑षधे॒ त्वं ग॒न्धेन॑ विषू॒चीना॒न्वि ना॑शय ॥ (१०)

जो पिशाच संध्या के समय गधों के समान शब्द करते हुए घरों के चारों ओर नाचते हैं तथा जो कुसूल के समान आकृति बना कर नाचते हैं, इन के अतिरिक्त जो बड़े पेट वाले, अर्जुन वृक्ष के समान भयानक आकृति वाले एवं भांतिभांति के आकारों तथा ध्वनियां करने वाले राक्षस घरों के चारों ओर नाचते हैं, हे सरसों रूपी ओषधि! तू अपनी गंध से उन सभी विप्लवकारियों को समाप्त कर. (१०)
EN English Translation
In addition to those who dance around the houses in the evening with words like donkeys and who dance in a shape similar to kusul, demons with large stomachs, terrible shapes like arjuna trees and making sounds dance around the houses, O mustard medicine! You eliminate all those swirlers with your smell. (10)
ये कु॒कुन्धाः॑ कु॒कूर॑भाः॒ कृत्ती॑र्दू॒र्शानि॒ बिभ्र॑ति । क्ली॒बा इ॑व प्र॒नृत्य॑न्तो॒ वने॒ ये कु॒र्वते॒ घोषं॒ तानि॒तो ना॑शयामसि ॥ (११)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
मुरगे के समान ध्वनि करने वाले जो ककुंध नामक पिशाच हैं तथा जो दूषित कर्म धारण करते हैं, जो पिशाच हिजड़ों और पागलों के समान नृत्य करते हैं तथा जो वन में हल्ला मचाते हैं, इन सब को मैं गर्भिणी के पास से भगाता हूं. (११)
EN English Translation
Those who sound like murga, who are vampires called kakundhs and who wear corrupt deeds, who dance like vampire eunuchs and lunatics, and who make a hue and cry in the forest, I drive them away from the womb. (11)
ये सूर्यं॒ न तिति॑क्षन्त आ॒तप॑न्तम॒मुं दि॒वः । अ॒राया॑न्बस्तवा॒सिनो॑ दु॒र्गन्धीं॒ल्लोहि॑तास्या॒न्मक॑कान्नाशयामसि ॥ (१२)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
जो विशेष प्राणी आकाश में सभी ओर चलते हुए इन सूर्य को सहन नहीं करते हैं जो श्रीविहीन हैं, भेड़ का चमड़ा पहनते हैं, दुर्गध वाले हैं, सदा मांस खाने के कारण जिन का मुंह लाल रहता है एवं जिन की चाल बुरी है, ऐसे पिशाचों का मैं नाश करता हूं. (१२)
EN English Translation
Those special beings who do not tolerate these suns while moving all over the sky, who are shriless, wear sheep's leather, are stinking, whose mouth is red due to always eating meat and whose gait is bad, I destroy such vampires. (12)
य आ॒त्मान॑मतिमा॒त्रमंस॑ आ॒धाय॒ बिभ्र॑ति । स्त्री॒णां श्रो॑णिप्रतो॒दिन॒ इन्द्र॒ रक्षां॑सि नाशय ॥ (१३)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
जो पिशाच गर्भिणी नारियों के स्थूल शरीर को कंधे पर धारण करते हैं तथा जो गर्भिणी स्त्रियों की कमर को अत्यधिक व्यथित करते हैं, हे इंद्र! उन राक्षसों का विनाश करो. (१३)
EN English Translation
The vampires who hold the gross body of pregnant women on the shoulder and who disturb the waist of pregnant women, O Indra! Destroy those monsters. (13)
ये पूर्वे॑ व॒ध्वो॒ यन्ति॒ हस्ते॒ शृङ्गा॑णि॒ बिभ्र॑तः । आ॑पाके॒स्थाः प्र॑हा॒सिन॑ स्त॒म्बे ये कु॒र्वते॒ ज्योति॒स्तानि॒तो ना॑शयामसि ॥ (१४)

जो पिशाच अपने बजाने के लिए अथवा पीने के लिए अपने हाथों में सींग ले कर अपनी पत्नियों के साथ घूमते हैं जो पाकशालाओं अथवा कुम्हारों के घरों में स्थित हैं, जो अट्टहास करते हैं तथा जो घर के खंभों पर अग्नि का रूप बना लेते हैं, उन सब को हम गर्भिणी के निवास स्थान से दूर भगाते हैं. (१४)
EN English Translation
The vampires who roam around with horns in their hands for their play or drinking, who are located in the houses of culinary or potters, who laugh and who make the form of agni on the pillars of the house, we drive them away from the abode of the womb. (14)
येषां॑ प॒श्चात्प्रप॑दानि पु॒रः पार्ष्णीः॑ पु॒रो मुखा॑ । ख॑ल॒जाः श॑कधूम॒जा उरु॑ण्डा॒ ये च॑ मट्म॒टाः कु॒म्भमु॑ष्का अया॒शवः॑ । तान॒स्या ब्र॑ह्मणस्पते प्रतीबो॒धेन॑ नाशय ॥ (१५)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
जिन राक्षसों के पंजे पीछे की ओर हैं, एड़ियां तथा मुख आगे की ओर हैं, जो खलिहान में जन्मे हैं, जो गाय, घोड़े आदि के गोबर से उत्पन्न हुए हैं, जो शीर्ष रहित हैं, जो मुटमुट शब्द करते हैं, जिन के मुंह घोड़े के समान हैं तथा जो वायु के समान तेज चलते हैं, हे ब्रह्मणस्पति! उन सब को निरोध के साधन इस सरसों के द्वारा नष्ट करो. (१५)

Demons whose claws are facing back, ankles and faces facing forward, who are born in barns, who are born from the dung of cows, horses, etc., who are headless, who say mutmut words, whose mouths are like horses and who walk as fast as air, O Brahmanspati! Destroy them all by means of detention by this mustard. (15)
प॑र्यस्ता॒क्षा अप्र॑चङ्कशा अस्त्रै॒णाः स॑न्तु॒ पण्ड॑गाः । अव॑ भेषज पादय॒ य इ॒मां सं॒विवृ॑त्स॒त्यप॑तिः स्वप॒तिं स्त्रिय॑म् ॥ (१६)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
इधरउधर फैली हुई आंखों वाले, पतली जंघाओं वाले एवं पैरों से न चलने वाले जो पिशाच हैं, वे बिना स्त्रियों वाले हो जाएं. हे सरसों रूपी ओषधि! तुम उन्हें नीचे की ओर मुंह कर के गिराओ. जो अनियंत्रित पिशाच इस पति वाली गर्भिणी स्त्री को वश में करना चाहते हैं, उन का विनाश करो. (१६)
EN English Translation
Here, vampires with wide eyes, thin thighs and no feet should become without women. O mustard medicine! You drop them facing down. Destroy the uncontrolled vampires who want to subdue this husband's pregnant woman. (16)
उ॑द्ध॒र्षिणं॒ मुनि॑केशं ज॒म्भय॑न्तं मरी॒मृशम् । उ॒पेष॑न्तमुदु॒म्बलं॑ तु॒ण्डेल॑मु॒त शालु॑डम् । प॒दा प्र वि॑ध्य॒ पार्ष्ण्या॑ स्था॒लीं गौरि॑व स्पन्द॒ना ॥ (१७)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
अत्यधिक घर्षण वाले, मुनियों के समान लंबी जटाओं वाले, हिंसक, बारबार कष्ट देने वाले एवं गर्भिणी को सभी ओर खोजने वाले उदुंबल, तुंडेल एवं शालुड असुरों को हे सरसों नामक ओषधि! अपने पैर से भलीभांति चोट कर के इस प्रकार मार डाल, जिस प्रकार बुरी गाय मिट्टी की दोहनी को पिछले पैर मार कर तोड़ देती है. (१७)

O mustard medicine to the Udumbala, Tundel and Shalud asuras with extreme friction, long jatas like munis, violent, frequent suffering and looking for the womb all over! Kill your foot well, just as the bad cow breaks the soil harness by hitting the back foot. (17)
यस्ते॒ गर्भं॑ प्रतिमृ॒शाज्जा॒तं वा॑ मा॒रया॑ति ते । पि॒ङ्गस्तमु॒ग्रध॑न्वा कृ॒णोतु॑ हृदया॒विध॑म् ॥ (१८)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे गर्भिणी स्त्री! जो राक्षस और पिशाच तेरे गर्भ को इस प्रकार पीड़ा देते हैं कि वह जीवित जन्म न ले अथवा जो तेरे जन्म लिए हुए पुत्र को मारते हैं, सफेद सरसों उन गर्भघातकों को दौड़ादौड़ा कर उन के हृदय में चोट मारें. (१८)
EN English Translation
This pregnant woman! The demons and vampires who torment your womb in such a way that it does not take birth alive or who kill your born son, the white mustard runs to those wombs and hurts their hearts. (18)
ये अ॒म्नो ज॒तान्मा॒रय॑न्ति॒ सूति॑का अनु॒शेर॑ते । स्त्रीभा॑गान्पि॒ङ्गो ग॑न्ध॒र्वान्वातो॑ अ॒भ्रमि॑वाजतु ॥ (१९)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
जो राक्षस, पिशाच आदि आधे जन्मे हुए बच्चों को मार डालते हैं एवं जो स्त्री का रूप धारण कर के प्रसूता के समीप सो जाते हैं. स्त्रियों को बाधा पहुंचाने वाले उन राक्षस, पिशाच आदि को पीली सरसों इस प्रकार भगा दे, जैसे वायु बादलों को हटा देती है. (१९)
EN English Translation
Those who kill half-born children like demons, vampires, etc. and who take the form of women and sleep near the mother. Remove those demons, vampires, etc. who obstruct women in such a way that the air removes the clouds. (19)
परि॑सृष्टं धारयतु॒ यद्धि॒तं माव॑ पादि॒ तत् । गर्भं॑ त उ॒ग्रौ र॑क्षतां भेष॒जौ नी॑विभा॒र्यौ ॥ (२०)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
गर्भिणी स्त्री होम के विनियोग से युक्त सरसों के दो दानों को इसलिए धारण करे, जिस से उस की मनचाही संतान पुत्र आदि नष्ट न हों. हे गर्भिणी स्त्री! तेरे गर्भ को अत्यधिक बलयुक्त ओषधि के रूप में सफेद और पीली - दोनों प्रकार की सरसों रक्षा करें. सरसों तुझे नीवी अर्थात् कमर में पहने हुए वस्त्र में अथवा ओढ़नी के सिरे में रखनी चाहिए. (२०)
EN English Translation
The pregnant woman should wear two grains of mustard containing the appropriation of the home, so that her desired children, sons, etc. are not destroyed. This pregnant woman! Protect both white and yellow mustard as a highly powerful medicine to your womb. Mustard should be kept in the dress worn in the waist or in the end of the odhani. (20)
पवीन॒सात्त॑ङ्ग॒ल्वा॒ च्छाय॑कादु॒त नग्न॑कात् । प्र॒जायै॒ पत्ये॑ त्वा पि॒ङ्गः परि॑ पातु किमी॒दिनः॑ ॥ (२१)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
वज्र के समान नाक वाले तंगल्व नामक विनाशकारी राक्षसों से तथा नग्न नामक असुरों से हे गर्भिणी स्त्री! पीले रंग की सरसों तेरी संतान की एवं तेरे पति की रक्षा करे एवं इन के अनुकूल बने. (२१)
EN English Translation
O pregnant woman from destructive demons called Tangalva with a nose like a thunderbolt and asuras called naked! May yellow mustard protect your children and your husband and adapt to them. (21)
द्व्यास्याच्चतुर॒क्षात्पञ्च॑पादादनङ्गु॒रेः । वृन्ता॑द॒भि प्र॒सर्प॑तः॒ परि॑ पाहि वरीवृ॒तात् ॥ (२२)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे जड़ीबूटी! तू दो मुखों वाले, चार आंखों वाले, पीछे की ओर पैरों वाले, अंगुली रहित एवं लताओं के कुंज से सामने की ओर आते हुए तथा सारे शरीर को अधिक रूप में व्याप्त करते हुए राक्षसों से गर्भिणी स्त्री की रक्षा कर. (२२)
EN English Translation
O herb! Protect the pregnant woman from demons with two faces, four eyes, back feet, fingerless and vines coming to the front from the keys of vines and spreading the whole body in more form. (22)
य आ॒मं मां॒समदन्ति॒ पौरु॑षेयं च॒ ये क्र॒विः । गर्भा॒न्खाद॑न्ति केश॒वास्तानि॒तो ना॑शयामसि ॥ (२३)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
जो राक्षस कच्चा मांस खाते हैं, जो मानव मांस का भक्षण करते हैं तथा जो लंबे केशों वाले हैं. वे माया रूप धारण कर के गर्भ में प्रवेश करते हैं और उसे खा जाते हैं. हम उन तीनों प्रकार के राक्षसों को गर्भिणी के समीप से दूर भगाते हैं. (२३)
EN English Translation
Monsters who eat raw meat, who eat human meat and who have long hairs. They take the form of Maya and enter the womb and eat it. We drive those three types of demons away from near the womb. (23)
ये सूर्या॑त्परि॒सर्प॑न्ति स्नु॒षेव॒ श्वशु॑रा॒दधि॑ । ब॒जश्च॒ तेषां॑ पि॒ङ्गश्च॒ हृद॒येऽधि॒ नि वि॑ध्यताम् ॥ (२४)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
जिस प्रकार वधू अपने ससुर की आज्ञा पा कर पति के समीप जाती है, उसी प्रकार जो पीड़ा पहुंचाने वाले राक्षस सूर्य की अनुमति से भूलोक में घूमते हैं, उन के हृदय में पीली और सफेद सरसों के द्वारा प्रहार करना चाहिए. (२४)
EN English Translation
Just as the bride goes near her husband after getting the permission of her father-in-law, in the same way, the demons who cause pain roam in the earth with the permission of the sun, they should be attacked with yellow and white mustard in their heart. (24)
पिङ्ग॒ रक्ष॒ जाय॑मानं॒ मा पुमां॑सं॒ स्त्रियं॑ क्रन् । आ॒ण्डादो॒ गर्भा॒न्मा द॑भ॒न्बाध॑स्वे॒तः कि॑मी॒दिनः॑ ॥ (२५)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे पीली सरसों! तू जन्म लेते हुए बालक की रक्षा कर. तू जन्म लेते हुए लड़के एवं लड़की को पीड़ा मत पहुंचा. जरायु का भक्षण करने वाले राक्षस गर्भो की हिंसा न करें. हे पीली सरसों! “यह वया है, यह क्या है.” इस प्रकार कह कर घूमने वाले राक्षसों को गर्भिणी के पास से दूर भगा. (२५)
EN English Translation
O yellow mustard! Protect the child while you are born. Do not hurt the boy and the girl while you were born. Do not do the violence of the demon wombs that eat the newborn. O yellow mustard! "This is vaya, what is this?" thus driving away the wandering demons from the womb. (25)
अ॑प्र॒जास्त्वं॒ मार्त॑वत्स॒माद्रोद॑म॒घमा॑व॒यम् । वृ॒क्षादि॑व॒ स्रजं॑ कृ॒त्वाप्रि॑ये॒ प्रति॑ मुञ्च॒ तत् ॥ (२६)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे पीली सरसों! जिस प्रकार वृक्ष से फूल तोड़ कर और उन की माला बना कर प्रियतम को पहनाई जाती है, उसी प्रकार तू इस स्त्री के बांझपन को, बच्चे मर जाने रूपी दुर्भाग्य को, सदा उत्पन्न होने वाले दुःख को, पाप अथवा उन के फलरूपी दुःखों को सदा सोने की माला बना कर उसे पहना दे, जिस से यह द्वेष करती है. (२६)

O yellow mustard! Just as flowers are broken from the tree and made a garland of them and worn to the beloved, in the same way, you should always wear this woman's infertility, the misfortune of the death of children, the sorrow that always arises, sin or the sorrows of their resulting, as a garland of gold, which she hates. (26)
