मा नो॑ मि॒त्रो वरु॑णो अर्य॒मायुरिन्द्र॑ ऋभु॒क्षा म॒रुतः॒ परि॑ ख्यन् । यद्वा॒जिनो॑ दे॒वजा॑तस्य॒ सप्तेः॑ प्रव॒क्ष्यामो॑ वि॒दथे॑ वी॒र्या॑णि ॥ (१)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
तुच्छ मनुष्य देवजात एवं शीघ्रगतिशाली अश्च के पराक्रमों का वर्णन कर रहे हैं. ऐसे विचारक मित्र, वरुण अर्यमा, आयु, इंद्र, ऋभुक्षा एवं वायु हमारी निंदा न करें. (१)
EN English Translation
The insignificant men are describing the mighty of god and the quick-moving assh. Such think-hearted friends, Varun Aryama, Age, Indra, Rybhuksha and Air, do not condemn us. (1)
यन्नि॒र्णिजा॒ रेक्ण॑सा॒ प्रावृ॑तस्य रा॒तिं गृ॑भी॒तां मु॑ख॒तो नय॑न्ति । सुप्रा॑ङ॒जो मेम्य॑द्वि॒श्वरू॑प इन्द्रापू॒ष्णोः प्रि॒यमप्ये॑ति॒ पाथः॑ ॥ (२)

ऋत्विज् रूपवान एवं सोने के आभूषणों से सजे हुए घोड़े के सामने भेंट करने के उद्देश्य से बकरे को ले जाते हैं. “में, में' करता हुआ अनेक रंग का बकरा इंद्र और पूषा का प्रिय है. वह अश्व के सामने आए. (२)
EN English Translation
The ritwis take away the goat for the purpose of offering it to the horse dressed in the form of a silver and decorated with gold ornaments. The many-colored goat doing "in, in" is the beloved of Indra and Pusha. He came in front of the horse. (2)
ए॒ष च्छागः॑ पु॒रो अश्वे॑न वा॒जिना॑ पू॒ष्णो भा॒गो नी॑यते वि॒श्वदे॑व्यः । अ॒भि॒प्रियं॒ यत्पु॑रो॒ळाश॒मर्व॑ता॒ त्वष्टेदे॑नं सौश्रव॒साय॑ जिन्वति ॥ (३)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
समस्त देवों के लिए उपयोगी, पर पूषा का अंश वह बकरा शीघ्र गतिशाली अश्व के सामने लाया जाता है. घोड़े के साथ इस बकरे को प्रयोग करके त्वष्टा देव के लिए स्वादिष्ट भोजन रूप पुरोडाश बनाया जाए. (३)
EN English Translation
Useful to all gods, but the portion of the pusha is brought before the fast-moving horse. Using this goat with a horse, make a tasty food form for the skin god. (3)
यद्ध॑वि॒ष्य॑मृतु॒शो दे॑व॒यानं॒ त्रिर्मानु॑षाः॒ पर्यश्वं॒ नय॑न्ति । अत्रा॑ पू॒ष्णः प्र॑थ॒मो भा॒ग ए॑ति य॒ज्ञं दे॒वेभ्यः॑ प्रतिवे॒दय॑न्न॒जः ॥ (४)

जब ऋत्विज् हवि के योग्य एवं देवों के प्राप्त करने के पात्र अश्व को समय-समय पर तीन बार अग्नि के चारों ओर घुमाते हैं, तब पूषा का भागरूप पहला बकरा अपनी 'में, में' से देवयज्ञ का प्रचार करता हुआ जाता है. (४)
EN English Translation
When the worthy of the ritvazhavi and the recipient of the gods rotate the horse around the fire three times from time to time, the first goat, part of the pusha, propagates the divine from its 'in, in'. (4)
होता॑ध्व॒र्युराव॑या अग्निमि॒न्धो ग्रा॑वग्रा॒भ उ॒त शंस्ता॒ सुवि॑प्रः । तेन॑ य॒ज्ञेन॒ स्व॑रंकृतेन॒ स्वि॑ष्टेन व॒क्षणा॒ आ पृ॑णध्वम् ॥ (५)

होता, अध्वर्यु, आवया, अग्निमिध, ग्रावाग्राम, शंस्ता एवं सुविप्र उस प्रसिद्ध एवं भली- भांति अलंकृत यज्ञ द्वारा नदियों को जल से भरें. (५)
EN English Translation
If, adhwaryu, avya, agnimidh, grawagram, santha and subipra fill the rivers with water by that famous and well-groomed yajna. (5)
यू॒प॒व्र॒स्का उ॒त ये यू॑पवा॒हाश्च॒षालं॒ ये अ॑श्वयू॒पाय॒ तक्ष॑ति । ये चार्व॑ते॒ पच॑नं स॒म्भर॑न्त्यु॒तो तेषा॑म॒भिगू॑र्तिर्न इन्वतु ॥ (६)

जो लोग यूप के लिए उपयोगी पेड़ काटने वाले हैं, जो यूप के निमित्त कटे हुए पेड़ को ढोने वाले हैं, जो अश्व बांधने वाले यूप में चषाल अर्थात् बांधने योग्य सिरा बनाते हैं अथवा जो घोड़े का मांस पकाने के लिए लकड़ी के बरतन तैयार करते हैं, इन सबमें मेरा संकल्प समा जाए. (६)
EN English Translation
Those who are the ones who cut down trees useful for the yupe, who carry the cut tree for the sake of the yupe, who make the chashle in the horse-tying yup, or who prepare wooden utensils to cook horse meat, let my resolve be included in them all. (6)
उप॒ प्रागा॑त्सु॒मन्मे॑ऽधायि॒ मन्म॑ दे॒वाना॒माशा॒ उप॑ वी॒तपृ॑ष्ठः । अन्वे॑नं॒ विप्रा॒ ऋष॑यो मदन्ति दे॒वानां॑ पु॒ष्टे च॑कृमा सु॒बन्धु॑म् ॥ (७)

हमें उत्तम फल प्राप्त हो. सुडौल पीठ वाला घोड़ा यज्ञफल के रूप में देवों की आशापूर्ति हेतु आवे. हम उसे बांधेंगे. इसे देखकर मेधावी ऋत्विजू तुष्ट हों. (७)
EN English Translation
May we get the best results. The horse with a shapely back should come as a yagyaphal to fulfill the hopes of the gods. We will tie him up. Seeing this, meritorious Ritviju should be satisfied. (7)
यद्वा॒जिनो॒ दाम॑ सं॒दान॒मर्व॑तो॒ या शी॑र्ष॒ण्या॑ रश॒ना रज्जु॑रस्य । यद्वा॑ घास्य॒ प्रभृ॑तमा॒स्ये॒३॒॑ तृणं॒ सर्वा॒ ता ते॒ अपि॑ दे॒वेष्व॑स्तु ॥ (८)

घोड़े की गरदन में बांधी जाने वाली, पैरों में बांधी जाने वाली एवं लगाम के रूप में मुख में डाली जाने वाली रस्सी ये सब रस्सियां एवं उसके मुंह में पड़ने वाली घास देवों को प्राप्त हो. (८)
EN English Translation
The rope tied in the neck of a horse, tied to the feet and inserted into the mouth as a rein may all these ropes and the grass that falls in its mouth be available to the gods. (8)
यदश्व॑स्य क्र॒विषो॒ मक्षि॒काश॒ यद्वा॒ स्वरौ॒ स्वधि॑तौ रि॒प्तमस्ति॑ । यद्धस्त॑योः शमि॒तुर्यन्न॒खेषु॒ सर्वा॒ ता ते॒ अपि॑ दे॒वेष्व॑स्तु ॥ (९)

घोड़े का जो कच्चा मांस मक्खियां खाती हैं, जो उसे काटते समय छुरी में लगा रह जाता है, अथवा काटने वाले के हाथों में लगा रह जाता है, वह भी देवों को प्राप्त हो. (९)
EN English Translation
The raw meat of the horse that the flies eat, which remains in the knife while cutting it, or in the hands of the one who cuts it, may also be received by the gods. (9)
यदूव॑ध्यमु॒दर॑स्याप॒वाति॒ य आ॒मस्य॑ क्र॒विषो॑ ग॒न्धो अस्ति॑ । सु॒कृ॒ता तच्छ॑मि॒तारः॑ कृण्वन्तू॒त मेधं॑ शृत॒पाकं॑ पचन्तु ॥ (१०)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
घोड़े के पेट में जो बिना पची हुई घास रह जाती है एवं पकाते समय जो कच्चे मांस का अंश बच रहता है, उसे मांस काटने वाले शुद्ध करें एवं यज्ञ के योग्य मांस देवों के निमित्त पकावें. (१०)
EN English Translation
The unshaken grass that remains in the horse's stomach and the raw meat that remains while cooking, should be cleaned by the meat cutters and the meat worthy of yajna should be cooked for the sake of the gods. (10)
यत्ते॒ गात्रा॑द॒ग्निना॑ प॒च्यमा॑नाद॒भि शूलं॒ निह॑तस्याव॒धाव॑ति । मा तद्भूम्या॒मा श्रि॑ष॒न्मा तृणे॑षु दे॒वेभ्य॒स्तदु॒शद्भ्यो॑ रा॒तम॑स्तु ॥ (११)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे घोड़े! आग में पकाए जाते हुए तुम्हारे गात्र से जो रस छलकता है एवं तुम्हें मारते समय जो रक्त शूल में लग जाता है, वह न धरती पर गिरे और न तिनकों में मिले. संपूर्ण की कामना करने वाले देवों को वह दिया जाए. (११)
EN English Translation
Oh, the horse! The juice that flows from your pot while being cooked in the fire, and the blood that goes into the colic when it kills you, should not fall to the ground, nor be found in the straws. It should be given to the gods who wish for the whole. (11)
ये वा॒जिनं॑ परि॒पश्य॑न्ति प॒क्वं य ई॑मा॒हुः सु॑र॒भिर्निर्ह॒रेति॑ । ये चार्व॑तो मांसभि॒क्षामु॒पास॑त उ॒तो तेषा॑म॒भिगू॑र्तिर्न इन्वतु ॥ (१२)

जो लोग घोड़े के अवयवों को पकता हुआ चारों ओर से देखते हैं एवं इस प्रकार कहते हैं-“मांस बड़ा सुगंधित है, थोड़ा हमें भी दो.” जो लोग घोड़े के मांस की भीख मांगते हैं, उनकी अभिलाषाएं हमें प्राप्त हों. (१२)
EN English Translation
Those who look around at the ingredients of the horse from all around and say, "The meat is very fragrant, give us a little too." We have the desires of those who beg for the meat of the horse. (12)
यन्नीक्ष॑णं मा॒ँस्पच॑न्या उ॒खाया॒ या पात्रा॑णि यू॒ष्ण आ॒सेच॑नानि । ऊ॒ष्म॒ण्या॑पि॒धाना॑ चरू॒णाम॒ङ्काः सू॒नाः परि॑ भूष॒न्त्यश्व॑म् ॥ (१३)

मांस पकाने वाले पात्र से रस लेकर जिस पात्र द्वारा परीक्षा की जाती है, जो पात्र उबले हुए मांस का रस सुरक्षित रखते हैं, जो पात्र भाप रोकने एवं मांस से भरे पात्र को ढकने के काम में लाए जाते हैं, वे वेतस की शाखाएं, जिनसे अश्व के हृदय आदि भागों पर निशान लगाते हैं, एक छुरी जिससे चिहूनों के अनुसार मांस काटा जाता है, ये सब अश्व को सुशोभित करते हैं. (१३)
EN English Translation
The vessel which is tested by taking the juice from the meat cooker, the vessels which preserve the juice of boiled meat, the vessels which are used to stop steaming and cover the container filled with meat, the branches of the vatas, from which the horse's heart etc. marks, a knife from which the meat is cut according to the chihuns, All of these beautify the horse. (13)
नि॒क्रम॑णं नि॒षद॑नं वि॒वर्त॑नं॒ यच्च॒ पड्बी॑श॒मर्व॑तः । यच्च॑ प॒पौ यच्च॑ घा॒सिं ज॒घास॒ सर्वा॒ ता ते॒ अपि॑ दे॒वेष्व॑स्तु ॥ (१४)

अश्व के चलने. बैठने एवं लोटने के स्थान, अश्व के पैर बांधने के साधन, उसके पीने का जल और खाई हुई घास, ये सब देवों को प्राप्त हो. (१४)
EN English Translation
Horse's walk. The place of sitting and rolling, the means of tying the horse's feet, its drinking water and the grass that has been eaten, may all these gods get. (14)
मा त्वा॒ग्निर्ध्व॑नयीद्धू॒मग॑न्धि॒र्मोखा भ्राज॑न्त्य॒भि वि॑क्त॒ जघ्रिः॑ । इ॒ष्टं वी॒तम॒भिगू॑र्तं॒ वष॑ट्कृतं॒ तं दे॒वासः॒ प्रति॑ गृभ्ण॒न्त्यश्व॑म् ॥ (१५)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे अश्व! धुएं वाली अग्नि को देखकर तुम मत हिनहिनाओ. अधिक अग्नि के ताप के कारण मांस पकाने का पात्र न टूटे. यज्ञ के लिए अभीष्ट, हवन के लिए लाए हुए, सामने भेंट दिए जाने के लिए तैयार एवं वषट्कार द्वारा सुशोभित घोड़े को देवगण स्वीकार करें. (१५)
EN English Translation
Oh, horse! Don't you look at the smoke fire. The meat cooker does not break due to excessive fire heat. Accept the horse intended for the yagna, brought for the havan, ready to be offered in front of you and adorned with the prostitute. (15)
यदश्वा॑य॒ वास॑ उपस्तृ॒णन्त्य॑धीवा॒सं या हिर॑ण्यान्यस्मै । सं॒दान॒मर्व॑न्तं॒ पड्बी॑शं प्रि॒या दे॒वेष्वा या॑मयन्ति ॥ (१६)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
बलि के लिए नियत अश्व को ढकने के लिए जो वस्त्र फैलाया जाता है, जिन स्वर्णाभूषणों से घोड़े को सजाया जाता है एवं जिन साधनों से घोड़े के पैर एवं गरदन बांधी जाती है, उन सब देवप्रिय वस्तुओं को ऋत्विज् देवों को दें. (१६)
EN English Translation
To cover the horse destined for sacrifice, the clothes that are spread, the gold ornaments with which the horse is decorated and the means by which the feet and neck of the horse are tied, give all the god-loving items to the Ritvij devas. (16)
यत्ते॑ सा॒दे मह॑सा॒ शूकृ॑तस्य॒ पार्ष्ण्या॑ वा॒ कश॑या वा तु॒तोद॑ । स्रु॒चेव॒ ता ह॒विषो॑ अध्व॒रेषु॒ सर्वा॒ ता ते॒ ब्रह्म॑णा सूदयामि ॥ (१७)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे अश्व! आते समय तुम नाक से महान् शब्द कर रहे थे. न चलने पर तुम्हें कोड़े से मारा गया. जैसे सुच के द्वारा हव्य अन्ने में डाला जाता है, उसी प्रकार उन सब व्यथाओं की मैं मंत्र द्वारा आहुति देता हूं (१७)
EN English Translation
Oh, horse! When you arrived you were saying great words from the nose. You were flogged for not walking. Just as by such a such the human being is poured into the ann, so i sacrifice all those sufferings by the mantra (17)
चतु॑स्त्रिंशद्वा॒जिनो॑ दे॒वब॑न्धो॒र्वङ्क्री॒रश्व॑स्य॒ स्वधि॑तिः॒ समे॑ति । अच्छि॑द्रा॒ गात्रा॑ व॒युना॑ कृणोत॒ परु॑ष्परुरनु॒घुष्या॒ वि श॑स्त ॥ (१८)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे घोड़े को काटने वाले! देवों के प्रिय अश्व की दोनों बगलों की चौंतीस हड्डियों को काटने के लिए छुरी भली प्रकार चलाई जाती है. ऐसी सावधानी बरतना, जिससे अश्व का कोई अंग कट न जाए. एक-एक भाग को देखकर और नाम लेकर काटो. (१८)
EN English Translation
O horse-biter! The beloved horse of the gods is stabbed well to cut off the thirty-four bones on both sides. Take precautions so that no part of the horse is cut off. Look at each part and take a name. (18)
एक॒स्त्वष्टु॒रश्व॑स्या विश॒स्ता द्वा य॒न्तारा॑ भवत॒स्तथ॑ ऋ॒तुः । या ते॒ गात्रा॑णामृतु॒था कृ॒णोमि॒ ताता॒ पिण्डा॑नां॒ प्र जु॑होम्य॒ग्नौ ॥ (१९)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
इस दीप्त अश्व का प्रकाशकर्ता एकमात्र ऋतु ही है. रात एवं दिन उस ऋतु का नियंत्रण करने वाले हैं. हे अश्व! तुम्हारे जिन अंगों को मैं अनुकूल समय पर काटता हूं, उन्हें पिंड बनाकर मैं अग्नि में हवन करूंगा. (१९)
EN English Translation
The lighter of this radiant horse is the only season. Night and day are going to control that season. Oh, horse! By making your limbs which I cut at a favorable time, I will make them a pinna in the fire. (19)
मा त्वा॑ तपत्प्रि॒य आ॒त्मापि॒यन्तं॒ मा स्वधि॑तिस्त॒न्व१॒॑ आ ति॑ष्ठिपत्ते । मा ते॑ गृ॒ध्नुर॑विश॒स्ताति॒हाय॑ छि॒द्रा गात्रा॑ण्य॒सिना॒ मिथू॑ कः ॥ (२०)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे अश्व! तुम्हारे देवों के समीप जाते समय तुम्हारा प्रिय शरीर तुम्हें दुःखी न करे. छुरी तेरे अंगों पर रुके नहीं. मांस ग्रहण करने का इच्छुक एवं अंगच्छेदन में अकुशल काटने वाला भिन्न-भिन्न अंगों के अतिरिक्त छुरी से शरीर को तिरछा न काटे. (२०)
EN English Translation
Oh, horse! Do not let your beloved body grieve you when you go near your gods. The knife does not stop on your limbs. A person who is willing to accept meat and has an unskilled bite in the amputation of the limbs should not cut the body diagonally with a knife in addition to different organs. (20)
न वा उ॑ ए॒तन्म्रि॑यसे॒ न रि॑ष्यसि दे॒वाँ इदे॑षि प॒थिभिः॑ सु॒गेभिः॑ । हरी॑ ते॒ युञ्जा॒ पृष॑ती अभूता॒मुपा॑स्थाद्वा॒जी धु॒रि रास॑भस्य ॥ (२१)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे अश्व! इस प्रकार बलि दिए जाने पर न तो तुम मरते हो और न लोगों द्वारा हिंसित होते हो. तुम उत्तम मार्गों द्वारा देवों के समीप जाते हो. इंद्र के हरि नामक घोड़े, मरुत् की वाहन हिरणियां एवं अश्व्िनीकुमारों के रथ में जुतने वाले गधे तुम्हारे रथ में जोते जाएंगे. (२१)
EN English Translation
Oh, horse! Thus, when you are sacrificed, you do not die or are not harmed by the people. You go to the gods by the best of paths. Indra's horses called Hari, the deer of the desert, and the donkeys that are ploughed in the chariot of the Ashvinikumaras will plow in your chariot. (21)
सु॒गव्यं॑ नो वा॒जी स्वश्व्यं॑ पुं॒सः पु॒त्राँ उ॒त वि॑श्वा॒पुषं॑ र॒यिम् । अ॒ना॒गा॒स्त्वं नो॒ अदि॑तिः कृणोतु क्ष॒त्रं नो॒ अश्वो॑ वनतां ह॒विष्मा॑न् ॥ (२२)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
बलि किया जाता हुआ अश्व हमें गायों एवं अश्वों से संपन्न एवं पुत्र, पौत्र पत्नी आदि की रक्षा करने वाला धन दे तथा संतान प्रदान करे. हे तेजस्वी अश्व! हमें पापरहित बनाओ तथा क्षत्रियोचित तेज एवं बल दो. (२२)
EN English Translation
May the horse being sacrificed give us money and children to protect the son, the grandson, wife, etc., rich in cows and horses. O stunning horse! Make us sinless and give us the power and strength. (22)
