स॒हस्रं॑ त इन्द्रो॒तयो॑ नः स॒हस्र॒मिषो॑ हरिवो गू॒र्तत॑माः । स॒हस्रं॒ रायो॑ माद॒यध्यै॑ सह॒स्रिण॒ उप॑ नो यन्तु॒ वाजाः॑ ॥ (१)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे इंद्र! तुम्हारे हजारों प्रकार के रक्षण उपाय हजारों तरह से हमारे पास आवें. हे अश्चों के स्वामी! तुम्हारे हजारों तरह के प्रसिद्ध अन्न हमें प्राप्त हों. तुम्हारे पास जो हजारों प्रकार के धन हैं, वे हमें प्रसन्नता देने के लिए मिलें. हमें हजारों पशु प्राप्त हों. (१)
EN English Translation
O Indra! Let thousands of your types of protection measures come to us in thousands of ways. O Lord of the Ashes! May we get thousands of your famous food grains. Let the thousands of kinds of money you have come to give us happiness. We should get thousands of animals. (1)
आ नोऽवो॑भिर्म॒रुतो॑ या॒न्त्वच्छा॒ ज्येष्ठे॑भिर्वा बृ॒हद्दि॑वैः सुमा॒याः । अध॒ यदे॑षां नि॒युतः॑ पर॒माः स॑मु॒द्रस्य॑ चिद्ध॒नय॑न्त पा॒रे ॥ (२)

मरुद्गण रक्षा के साधनों सहित हमारे पास आवें. शोभन बुद्धि वाले मरुद्गण परम प्रसिद्ध एवं दीप्तिशाली धन के साथ हमारे समीप आवें. उनके नियुत नामक घोड़े समुद्र के उस पार रहते हुए भी धन धारण करते हैं. (२)
EN English Translation
Let the deserts come to us with means of protection. May the deserts with a good intellect come to us with the most famous and radiant wealth. The horses called their appointed hold wealth even when they live across the sea. (2)
मि॒म्यक्ष॒ येषु॒ सुधि॑ता घृ॒ताची॒ हिर॑ण्यनिर्णि॒गुप॑रा॒ न ऋ॒ष्टिः । गुहा॒ चर॑न्ती॒ मनु॑षो॒ न योषा॑ स॒भाव॑ती विद॒थ्ये॑व॒ सं वाक् ॥ (३)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
भली प्रकार स्थित, जल बरसाती हुई एवं सुनहरे रंग की बिजली मरुतों के साथ मेघमाला, छिपे हुए स्थान में रहने वाली राजपुरुष की पत्नी अथवा यज्ञीय वाणी के समान रहती है. (३)
EN English Translation
Well-situated, water-rained and golden-colored electricity remains like a cloud with maruts, the wife of a prince living in a hidden place or a sacrificial voice. (3)
परा॑ शु॒भ्रा अ॒यासो॑ य॒व्या सा॑धार॒ण्येव॑ म॒रुतो॑ मिमिक्षुः । न रो॑द॒सी अप॑ नुदन्त घो॒रा जु॒षन्त॒ वृधं॑ स॒ख्याय॑ दे॒वाः ॥ (४)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
जिस प्रकार युवक साधारण नारी से मिलते हैं, उसी प्रकार शोभन अलंकारों वाले परम वेगशाली एवं महान् मरुद्गण बिजली के साथ संगत होते हैं. भयंकर वर्षा करने वाले मरुद्गण धरती और आकाश का त्याग नहीं करते. देवगण मित्रता के कारण मरुतों की उन्नति का प्रयत्न करते हैं. (४)
EN English Translation
Just as young men meet ordinary women, so the most fast and great deserts with adornment ornaments are compatible with electricity. The deserts who rain heavily do not forsake the earth and the sky. The gods try to progress the maruts because of friendship. (4)
जोष॒द्यदी॑मसु॒र्या॑ स॒चध्यै॒ विषि॑तस्तुका रोद॒सी नृ॒मणाः॑ । आ सू॒र्येव॑ विध॒तो रथं॑ गात्त्वे॒षप्र॑तीका॒ नभ॑सो॒ नेत्या ॥ (५)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
बिखरे हुए बालों वाली मरुत्-पत्नी बिजली समागम के निमित्त इनकी सेवा करती है. जिस प्रकार सूर्य की पुत्री अश्विनीकुमारों के रथ पर सवार हुई थी, उसी प्रकार तेजस्वी शरीर वाली चंचल बिजली मरुतों के रथ पर बैठकर यज्ञस्थल पर आती है. (५)
EN English Translation
The desert wife with scattered hair serves them for the sake of the electricity meet. Just as the daughter of the Sun rode on the chariot of the Ashwinikumars, so the fickle lightning with a bright body sits on the chariot of the maruts and comes to the place of yajna. (5)
आस्था॑पयन्त युव॒तिं युवा॑नः शु॒भे निमि॑श्लां वि॒दथे॑षु प॒ज्राम् । अ॒र्को यद्वो॑ मरुतो ह॒विष्मा॒न्गाय॑द्गा॒थं सु॒तसो॑मो दुव॒स्यन् ॥ (६)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
नित्य तरुण मरुद्गण नियम से मिलन करने वाली एवं शक्तिशाली तरुणी बिजली को वर्षा के लिए अपने रथ पर बैठा लेते हैं. उसी समय पूजा के मंत्र बोलते हुए हव्यदाता एवं सोमरस निचोड़ने वाले यजमान मरुतों की सेवा करते हुए स्तुतियां पढ़ते हैं. (६)
EN English Translation
The young and powerful young men, who meet the rule of deserts, take electricity to their chariots for rain. At the same time, while chanting the mantras of worship, the havandatas and the hosts who squeeze the somras read the praises while serving the maruts. (6)
प्र तं वि॑वक्मि॒ वक्म्यो॒ य ए॑षां म॒रुतां॑ महि॒मा स॒त्यो अस्ति॑ । सचा॒ यदीं॒ वृष॑मणा अहं॒युः स्थि॒रा चि॒ज्जनी॒र्वह॑ते सुभा॒गाः ॥ (७)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
मैं मरुतों की प्रशंसनीय एवं सरलता से समझ में न आने वाली महिमा का वर्णन करता हूं. मरुतों से संबंधित बिजली बरसने की इच्छा वाली, अहंकार युक्त स्थिर सौभाग्यशालिनी एवं जननसमर्थ प्रजाओं को धारण करने वाली है. (७)
EN English Translation
I describe the admirable and simply unintelligible glory of the Maruts. The electricity related to the maruts is going to hold the people with the desire to rain, the ego-possessed stable good fortune and the support of the people. (7)
पान्ति॑ मि॒त्रावरु॑णावव॒द्याच्चय॑त ईमर्य॒मो अप्र॑शस्तान् । उ॒त च्य॑वन्ते॒ अच्यु॑ता ध्रु॒वाणि॑ वावृ॒ध ईं॑ मरुतो॒ दाति॑वारः ॥ (८)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे मरुतो! मित्र, वरुण और अर्यमा इस यज्ञ की निंदा से रक्षा करते हैं तथा यज्ञ के दोषयुक्त पदार्थो का नाश करते हैं. इन्हीं के कारण समय पर मेघ का अच्युत एवं ध्रुव जल टपक पड़ता है. जल की अधिकता से मित्रादि ही जगत् की रक्षा करते हैं. (८)
EN English Translation
O Maruto! Friends, Varuna and Aryama protect this yajna from condemnation and destroy the guilty substances of the yajna. Due to these, the achyuta and pole water of the cloud drips at time. Friends protect the world from the excess of water. (8)
न॒ही नु वो॑ मरुतो॒ अन्त्य॒स्मे आ॒रात्ता॑च्चि॒च्छव॑सो॒ अन्त॑मा॒पुः । ते धृ॒ष्णुना॒ शव॑सा शूशु॒वांसोऽर्णो॒ न द्वेषो॑ धृष॒ता परि॑ ष्ठुः ॥ (९)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे मरुद्गण! हम लोगों में से एक भी व्यक्ति दूर रहकर भी तुम्हारे बल की सीमा नहीं जान सका. तुम शत्रुओं को हराने वाले बल से जलराशि के समान बढ़ते हो और अपनी शक्ति से उन्हें हराते हो. (९)
EN English Translation
O deserters! Not a single one of us could know the extent of your force even while staying away. You grow like a water by the force of defeating the enemies and defeat them with your power. (9)
व॒यम॒द्येन्द्र॑स्य॒ प्रेष्ठा॑ व॒यं श्वो वो॑चेमहि सम॒र्ये । व॒यं पु॒रा महि॑ च नो॒ अनु॒ द्यून्तन्न॑ ऋभु॒क्षा न॒रामनु॑ ष्यात् ॥ (१०)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
आज हम इंद्र के अत्यंत प्रिय बनकर यज्ञ में उनकी महिमा का वर्णन करेंगे. हमने प्राचीन काल में इंद्र की महिमा का वर्णन किया था और प्रतिदिन कर रहे हैं. इसलिए महान् इंद्र अन्य लोगों की अपेक्षा हमारे अनुकूल बनें. (१०)
EN English Translation
Today we will be extremely dear to Indra and narrate his glory in the yagna. We described the glory of Indra in ancient times and are everyday. So let the great Indra be friendly to us more than other people. (10)
ए॒ष वः॒ स्तोमो॑ मरुत इ॒यं गीर्मा॑न्दा॒र्यस्य॑ मा॒न्यस्य॑ का॒रोः । एषा या॑सीष्ट त॒न्वे॑ व॒यां वि॒द्यामे॒षं वृ॒जनं॑ जी॒रदा॑नुम् ॥ (११)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे मरुतो! आदर के योग्य मांदर्य कवि का यह स्तुतिसमूह तुम्हारे लिए है. यह स्तुति इस अभिलाषा से तुम्हारे पास जाती है कि स्तुतिकर्ता का शरीर पुष्ट हो. हम भी इस स्तुति द्वारा अन्न, बल एवं दीर्घ आयु प्राप्त करें. (११)
EN English Translation
O Maruto! This group of praises of the worthy mandarya poet is for you. This praise goes to you with the desire that the body of the praiseor be strengthened. Let us also gain food, strength and long life through this praise. (11)
