समि॑द्धो अ॒द्य मनु॑षो दुरो॒णे दे॒वो दे॒वान्य॑जसि जातवेदः । आ च॒ वह॑ मित्रमहश्चिकि॒त्वान्त्वं दू॒तः क॒विर॑सि॒ प्रचे॑ताः ॥ (१)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे जातवेद अग्नि! तुम आज मानवों के घर में प्रज्वलित होकर इंद्रादि देवों की पूजा करते हो. स्तोता मित्रों की पूजा करने वाले अग्नि! तुम स्तोताओं द्वारा की हुई स्तुतियां जानते हुए देवों को बुलाओ. तुम बुद्धिमान् एवं कार्यकुशल हो. (१)
EN English Translation
O Jativeda Agni! Today you are ignited in the house of human beings and worship the Indradi devas. Fire to worship the stota friends! You call the gods knowing the praises made by the Psalms. You are intelligent and efficient. (1)
तनू॑नपात्प॒थ ऋ॒तस्य॒ याना॒न्मध्वा॑ सम॒ञ्जन्स्व॑दया सुजिह्व । मन्मा॑नि धी॒भिरु॒त य॒ज्ञमृ॒न्धन्दे॑व॒त्रा च॑ कृणुह्यध्व॒रं नः॑ ॥ (२)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे अग्नि! यज्ञ के जो मार्ग अर्थात् हवि हैं, उन्हें मधु से मिलाकर अपनी शोभन-ज्वाला रूपी जीभ से उनका स्वाद लो. तुम सुंदर भावों द्वारा हमारी स्तुतियों और यज्ञ को उन्नत बनाओ एवं हमारे यज्ञ को देवों के भाग के योग्य बनाओ. (२)
EN English Translation
O agni! Mix the paths of yajna i.e. havi with honey and taste them with your beaut-flame-like tongue. You upgrade our praises and yajna by beautiful emotions and make our yajna worthy of the part of the gods. (2)
आ॒जुह्वा॑न॒ ईड्यो॒ वन्द्य॒श्चा या॑ह्यग्ने॒ वसु॑भिः स॒जोषाः॑ । त्वं दे॒वाना॑मसि यह्व॒ होता॒ स ए॑नान्यक्षीषि॒तो यजी॑यान् ॥ (३)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे देवों को बुलाने वाले, प्रार्थनीय एवं वंदना के योग्य अग्नि! तुम वसुओं के साथ पधारो. हे महान् अग्नि! तुम देवों के होता हो. हे अतिशय यज्ञकर्ता अग्नि! तुम हमारी प्रार्थना सुनकर इन देवों का यजन करो. (३)
EN English Translation
O agni that calls the gods, praiseworthy and worthy of worship! You come with the vasuas. O great agni! You are gods. O agni, the most sacrificial agni! Listen to our prayers and worship these gods. (3)
प्रा॒चीनं॑ ब॒र्हिः प्र॒दिशा॑ पृथि॒व्या वस्तो॑र॒स्या वृ॑ज्यते॒ अग्रे॒ अह्ना॑म् । व्यु॑ प्रथते वित॒रं वरी॑यो दे॒वेभ्यो॒ अदि॑तये स्यो॒नम् ॥ (४)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
प्रातः वेदी को आच्छादित करने के लिए कुशों को पूर्व की ओर मुख करके बिछाया जाता है. यह सुंदर कुश अधिक फैलाया जाता है. यह अदिति तथा अन्य देवों के बैठने के लिए है. (४)
EN English Translation
In the morning, kushas are laid facing east to cover the altar. This beautiful kush is more spread out. It is for Aditi and other gods to sit. (4)
व्यच॑स्वतीरुर्वि॒या वि श्र॑यन्तां॒ पति॑भ्यो॒ न जन॑यः॒ शुम्भ॑मानाः । देवी॑र्द्वारो बृहतीर्विश्वमिन्वा दे॒वेभ्यो॑ भवत सुप्राय॒णाः ॥ (५)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
सुंदर पत्नियां अच्छे कपड़े पहनती हैं एवं पतियों के सामने जिस प्रकार अपना शरीर प्रकट करती हैं, उसी प्रकार यज्ञशाला के सभी द्वारों पर देवियां प्रकट हों. हे द्वारदेवियो! द्वार इतने खुल जावें कि देवगण उन में होकर सरलता से जा सकें. (५)
EN English Translation
Beautiful wives dress well and just as they reveal their bodies to the husbands, so the goddesses appear at all the gates of the yajnashala. O gate, ladies! Let the doors be open so that the devas can easily go through them. (5)
आ सु॒ष्वय॑न्ती यज॒ते उपा॑के उ॒षासा॒नक्ता॑ सदतां॒ नि योनौ॑ । दि॒व्ये योष॑णे बृह॒ती सु॑रु॒क्मे अधि॒ श्रियं॑ शुक्र॒पिशं॒ दधा॑ने ॥ (६)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
यज्ञ भाग की अधिकारिणी एवं शोभन-गति वाली उषा व रात्रि यज्ञशाला में बैठे. ये दिव्य नारी के समान शोभन दीप्ति वाली अत्यंत सुंदर एवं तेज को धारण करने वाली हैं. (६)
EN English Translation
The authority of the yajna part and the shobhon-speeded Usha and sat in the night yajnashala. They are beautiful and sharp to be possessed of the same glory as the divine woman. (6)
दैव्या॒ होता॑रा प्रथ॒मा सु॒वाचा॒ मिमा॑ना य॒ज्ञं मनु॑षो॒ यज॑ध्यै । प्र॒चो॒दय॑न्ता वि॒दथे॑षु का॒रू प्रा॒चीनं॒ ज्योतिः॑ प्र॒दिशा॑ दि॒शन्ता॑ ॥ (७)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
देवों के होता अर्थात् अग्नि और सूर्य सबसे पहले शोभन स्तुतियां बोलते हुए यज्ञकर्ता मनुष्य के लिए यज्ञ पूर्ण करने का काम करते हैं. ये दोनों पुरोहितं को यज्ञ कर्म में लगाते हैं. ये क्रियाकुशल हैं एवं पूर्व दिशा में प्राचीन प्रकाश उत्पन्न करते हैं. (७)
EN English Translation
The gods, i.e., agni and the sun, first of all, speak the praises of shobhan, and the yajnakars do the work of completing the yajna for man. Both of them engage the priests in yajna karma. They are efficient and produce ancient light in the east direction. (7)
आ नो॑ य॒ज्ञं भार॑ती॒ तूय॑मे॒त्विळा॑ मनु॒ष्वदि॒ह चे॒तय॑न्ती । ति॒स्रो दे॒वीर्ब॒र्हिरेदं स्यो॒नं सर॑स्वती॒ स्वप॑सः सदन्तु ॥ (८)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
सूर्यदीप्ति हमारे यज्ञ में शीघ्र आवें. इड़ादेवी इस यज्ञ का ज्ञान करके यहां मनुष्य के समान पधारें. इन दोनों के साथ सरस्वती देवी मिलें एवं तीनों देवियां इस सुखकर यज्ञ में बैठे. (८)
EN English Translation
May the sun shine come soon in our yajna. Idadevi comes here like a human being by knowing this yajna. Meet Goddess Saraswati with these two and the three goddesses sit in this happy yagna. (8)
य इ॒मे द्यावा॑पृथि॒वी जनि॑त्री रू॒पैरपिं॑श॒द्भुव॑नानि॒ विश्वा॑ । तम॒द्य हो॑तरिषि॒तो यजी॑यान्दे॒वं त्वष्टा॑रमि॒ह य॑क्षि वि॒द्वान् ॥ (९)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे होता! जिन त्वष्टा देव ने देवों की माता के समान द्यावा-पृथिवी को बनाकर उन्हें भांति-भांति के प्राणियों से युक्त किया है, उन्हीं त्वष्टा देव की तुम पूजा करो. तुम आज अन्न वाले हो, विद्वान् हो एवं सर्वश्रेष्ठ यज्ञकर्ता हो. (९)
EN English Translation
It was! You should worship the same Tvashta Dev, who has made the divine-earth like the mother of the gods, and has made them a variety of beings. You are the one who eats today, you are a scholar and the best sacrificer. (9)
उ॒पाव॑सृज॒ त्मन्या॑ सम॒ञ्जन्दे॒वानां॒ पाथ॑ ऋतु॒था ह॒वींषि॑ । वन॒स्पतिः॑ शमि॒ता दे॒वो अ॒ग्निः स्वद॑न्तु ह॒व्यं मधु॑ना घृ॒तेन॑ ॥ (१०)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे यूप! तुम ऋलु के अनुकूल अन्न एवं होमद्रव्य अर्पण करो. वनस्पति शमिता नाम का देव एवं अग्नि मधु तथा घी के साथ होम के द्रव्यो का स्वाद लें. (१०)
EN English Translation
Hey Yup! You offer food and home products to suit Rulu. Taste the deity named Vanaspati Shamita and the liquids of the home with agni honey and ghee. (10)
स॒द्यो जा॒तो व्य॑मिमीत य॒ज्ञम॒ग्निर्दे॒वाना॑मभवत्पुरो॒गाः । अ॒स्य होतुः॑ प्र॒दिश्यृ॒तस्य॑ वा॒चि स्वाहा॑कृतं ह॒विर॑दन्तु दे॒वाः ॥ (११)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
अग्नि तुरंत उत्पन्न होते ही यज्ञ का निर्माण करने लगे एवं देवों के अग्रगामी दूत बने. यज्ञ संबंधी अग्नि के वचन में मंत्र पढ़े जावें, स्वाहा शब्द बोला जावे एवं देव इव्य का भक्षण करें. (११)
EN English Translation
As soon as the agni was born immediately, he started creating the yajna and became the leading messenger of the gods. Mantras should be recited in the word of agni related to yajna, swaha words should be spoken and devya should be consumed. (11)
