प्र होता॑ जा॒तो म॒हान्न॑भो॒विन्नृ॒षद्वा॑ सीदद॒पामु॒पस्थे॑ । दधि॒र्यो धायि॒ स ते॒ वयां॑सि य॒न्ता वसू॑नि विध॒ते त॑नू॒पाः ॥ (१)

मानवों में रहने वाले, अंतरिक्ष की गोद में बिजली के रूप में बैठे हुए, गुणों के कारण पूज्य व अंतरिक्ष के ज्ञाता अग्नि उत्पन्न होते ही यजमानों के होता बने. यज्ञधारणकर्ता अग्नि वेदी पर स्थित किए गए हैं. हे वत्सप्रि! वे अग्नि तुझ परिचारक के लिए अन्न एवं धन देने वाले तथा शरीररक्षक बनें. (१)
EN English Translation
Those living in humans, sitting in the lap of space as electricity, revered by virtues and the knower of space become hosts as soon as agni is produced. The yajnadharankars are located on the agni altar. O Vatsapri! Let those agnis give you food and money for your attendant and be body protectors. (1)
इ॒मं वि॒धन्तो॑ अ॒पां स॒धस्थे॑ प॒शुं न न॒ष्टं प॒दैरनु॑ ग्मन् । गुहा॒ चत॑न्तमु॒शिजो॒ नमो॑भिरि॒च्छन्तो॒ धीरा॒ भृग॑वोऽविन्दन् ॥ (२)

लोग जिस प्रकार पैरों के निशान देखकर चुराए हुए पशुओं का पीछा करते हैं, उसी प्रकार तुम्हारी सेवा करने वाले ऋषियों ने जलों के बीच तुम्हें ढूंढ़ा. तुम्हारी कामना करने वाले एवं बुद्धिमान् भृगुवंशी ऋषियों ने एकांत में छिपे हुए अग्नि को स्तुतियों द्वारा प्राप्त किया. (२)
EN English Translation
Just as people chase stolen animals when they see footprints, so the sages who serve you looked for you among the waters. The wise sages who wished you and the wise bhriguvanshi received the agni hidden in solitude through praises. (2)
इ॒मं त्रि॒तो भूर्य॑विन्ददि॒च्छन्वै॑भूव॒सो मू॒र्धन्यघ्न्या॑याः । स शेवृ॑धो जा॒त आ ह॒र्म्येषु॒ नाभि॒र्युवा॑ भवति रोच॒नस्य॑ ॥ (३)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
विभूवस के पुत्र त्रित ऋषि ने पाने की इच्छा करके इन महान् अग्नि को धरती के ऊपर प्राप्त किया था. सुख बढ़ाने वाले एवं युवा अग्नि यजमानों के घरों में सभी ओर से उत्पन्न होकर स्वर्ग की नाभि बनते हैं. (३)
EN English Translation
Sage Trit, the son of Vibhuvas, had attained this great agni above the earth by wishing to get it. The happiness enhancers and the young agnis originate from all sides in the houses of hosts and become the navel of heaven. (3)
म॒न्द्रं होता॑रमु॒शिजो॒ नमो॑भिः॒ प्राञ्चं॑ य॒ज्ञं ने॒तार॑मध्व॒राणा॑म् । वि॒शाम॑कृण्वन्नर॒तिं पा॑व॒कं ह॑व्य॒वाहं॒ दध॑तो॒ मानु॑षेषु ॥ (४)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
मादक, होमनिष्पादक, गतिशील, यज्ञ के योग्य, यज्ञों के नेता, यज्ञशाला में वर्तमान, शोधक एवं हव्यवाहक अग्नि को मनुष्यों में धारण करने वाले तथा अग्नि की अभिलाषा करने वाले ऋत्विजों ने स्तुतियों द्वारा प्रसन्न किया. (४)
EN English Translation
The intoxicating, home-grown, dynamic, worthy of yajna, the leader of the yagnas, the present, the seeker and the human-bearer in the yajnashala, the sages who possessed the agni in humans and longed for agni were pleased with the praises. (4)
प्र भू॒र्जय॑न्तं म॒हां वि॑पो॒धां मू॒रा अमू॑रं पु॒रां द॒र्माण॑म् । नय॑न्तो॒ गर्भं॑ व॒नां धियं॑ धु॒र्हिरि॑श्मश्रुं॒ नार्वा॑णं॒ धन॑र्चम् ॥ (५)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे स्तोता! तुम जयशील, महान् एवं मेधावियों को धारण करने वाले अग्नि की स्तुति करने में समर्थ बनो. सभी लोग बुद्धिमान्, पुरियों को नष्ट करने वाले, अरणि के गर्भरूप, स्तुतियोग्य, हरे रंग के बालों के समान, ज्वालाओं से युक्त एवं प्रीतिकर स्तोत्रों वाले अग्नि को हव्य देकर अपने कमो को प्राप्त करते हैं. (५)
EN English Translation
This is the hymn! Be able to praise the agni that holds the joyful, the great and the meritorious. All the people attain their commen by giving a greeting to the agni of the wise, the destroyers of the puris, the embodiment of the arani, the praiseworthy, the green hair, the flames and the loving hymns. (5)
नि प॒स्त्या॑सु त्रि॒तः स्त॑भू॒यन्परि॑वीतो॒ योनौ॑ सीदद॒न्तः । अतः॑ सं॒गृभ्या॑ वि॒शां दमू॑ना॒ विध॑र्मणाय॒न्त्रैरी॑यते॒ नॄन् ॥ (६)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
अग्नि गार्हपत्य आदि तीन स्थानों में विस्तृत, यजमान के गृहों को स्थिर करने के इच्छुक व चारों ओर ज्वालाओं से घिरे हुए यज्ञशाला में स्थित वेदी पर बैठते हैं. अग्नि यहां से प्रजाओं के हव्य लेकर एवं पुरोडाश आदि स्वीकृत करके देवों को देने की इच्छा से यज्ञकर्मो के शत्रुओं का नियंत्रण करते हुए देवों के समीप जाते हैं. (६)
EN English Translation
The agni garhapatyas, etc., elaborate in three places, are willing to stabilize the houses of the host and sit on the altar in the yajnashala surrounded by flames all around. From here, agni goes to the gods by taking the vows of the people and taking the wishes of giving it to the gods by accepting the purodas etc. and controlling the enemies of the yagnakarmo. (6)
अ॒स्याजरा॑सो द॒माम॒रित्रा॑ अ॒र्चद्धू॑मासो अ॒ग्नयः॑ पाव॒काः । श्वि॒ती॒चयः॑ श्वा॒त्रासो॑ भुर॒ण्यवो॑ वन॒र्षदो॑ वा॒यवो॒ न सोमाः॑ ॥ (७)

इस यजमान के पास जरारहित, शत्रुओं पर शासन करने वाली, पूजा के योग्य ज्वालाओं से युक्त, शुद्ध करने वाली श्वेतवर्ण, शीघ्रगति वाली, प्रजाओं का भरण करने वाली, वन में रहने वाली एवं सोम के समान गतिशील अग्नियां हैं. (७)
EN English Translation
This host has agnis that are unstoppable, ruling over enemies, with flames worthy of worship, purifying white, fast-paced, filling the people, living in the forest and moving like Som. (7)
प्र जि॒ह्वया॑ भरते॒ वेपो॑ अ॒ग्निः प्र व॒युना॑नि॒ चेत॑सा पृथि॒व्याः । तमा॒यवः॑ शु॒चय॑न्तं पाव॒कं म॒न्द्रं होता॑रं दधिरे॒ यजि॑ष्ठम् ॥ (८)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
अग्नि अपनी ज्वाला के द्वारा यज्ञकर्म को धारण करते हैं एवं धरती की रक्षा के लिए अनुग्रहपूर्वक स्तुतियां स्वीकार करते हैं. गतिशील मनुष्य दीप्तिशाली, शुद्ध करने वाले, स्तुतियोग्य, होमनिष्पादक एवं अतिशय यज्ञपात्र अग्नि को धारण करते हैं. (८)
EN English Translation
The agni, through its flame, holds the yagnakarma and graciously accepts praises to protect the earth. Dynamic human beings possess the glorious, purifying, praiseworthy, home-grown and very sacrificial agni. (8)
द्यावा॒ यम॒ग्निं पृ॑थि॒वी जनि॑ष्टा॒माप॒स्त्वष्टा॒ भृग॑वो॒ यं सहो॑भिः । ई॒ळेन्यं॑ प्रथ॒मं मा॑त॒रिश्वा॑ दे॒वास्त॑तक्षु॒र्मन॑वे॒ यज॑त्रम् ॥ (९)

अग्नि को द्यावा-पृथिवी ने जन्म दिया है. जलों, त्वष्टा और भृगुओं ने तेजों द्वारा प्राप्त किया है. वायु तथा अन्य देवों ने अग्नि को मानवों के यज्ञ के लिए बनाया है. (९)
EN English Translation
Fire has been given birth by Dyava-Prithvivi. The waters, the skins and the bhrigus have been obtained by the lightnings. Vayu and other gods have made agni for the yagna of human beings. (9)
यं त्वा॑ दे॒वा द॑धि॒रे ह॑व्य॒वाहं॑ पुरु॒स्पृहो॒ मानु॑षासो॒ यज॑त्रम् । स याम॑न्नग्ने स्तुव॒ते वयो॑ धाः॒ प्र दे॑व॒यन्य॒शसः॒ सं हि पू॒र्वीः ॥ (१०)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे हव्य वहन करने वाले अग्नि! देवों ने तुम्हें धारण किया. हे यज्ञ योग्य अग्नि! अभिलाषाएं करने वाले मनुष्यों ने तुम्हें धारण किया. हे अग्नि! यज्ञ में मुझ स्तोता को अन्न दो. देवाभिलाषी यजमान तुमसे बहुत से यश प्राप्त करता है. (१०)
EN English Translation
O agni that carries the wind! The gods held you. O agniworthy of sacrifice! The men who desire you possessed you. O agni! Give food to my hymn in the yajna. The godly host receives many praises from you. (10)
