इन्द्रं॑ स्तवा॒ नृत॑मं॒ यस्य॑ म॒ह्ना वि॑बबा॒धे रो॑च॒ना वि ज्मो अन्ता॑न् । आ यः प॒प्रौ च॑र्षणी॒धृद्वरो॑भिः॒ प्र सिन्धु॑भ्यो रिरिचा॒नो म॑हि॒त्वा ॥ (१)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे स्तोता! नेताओं में श्रेष्ठ इंद्र की स्तुति करो. उनके महत्त्व से दूसरों के तेज हार जाते हैं. उनकी महिमा सारी धरती को पराभूत करती है. वे मानव प्रजा को धारण करते हैं. उनका महत्त्व सागर से भी बड़ा है तथा वे अपने तेज से द्यावा-पृथिवी को पूर्ण करते हैं. (१)
EN English Translation
This hymn! Praise Indra, the best of the leaders. Their importance leads to the sharp defeat of others. His glory destroys the whole earth. They possess human subjects. Their importance is bigger than the ocean and they fulfill the divine earth with their speed. (1)
स सूर्यः॒ पर्यु॒रू वरां॒स्येन्द्रो॑ ववृत्या॒द्रथ्ये॑व च॒क्रा । अति॑ष्ठन्तमप॒स्यं१॒॑ न सर्गं॑ कृ॒ष्णा तमां॑सि॒ त्विष्या॑ जघान ॥ (२)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
सारथि जिस प्रकार रथ का पहिया घुमाता है, उसी प्रकार शोभन वीर्य वाले इंद्र अपने अधिक तेज को चारों ओर घुमाते हैं. इंद्र अपने तेज से शीघ्र गति वाले एवं कार्यकुशल विश्व के समान अंधकार को नष्ट करते हैं. (२)
EN English Translation
Just as the charioteer rotates the wheel of the chariot, so does Indra, who has shobhan semen, turn his more speed around. Indra destroys the darkness of his fast-paced and efficient world. (2)
स॒मा॒नम॑स्मा॒ अन॑पावृदर्च क्ष्म॒या दि॒वो अस॑मं॒ ब्रह्म॒ नव्य॑म् । वि यः पृ॒ष्ठेव॒ जनि॑मान्य॒र्य इन्द्र॑श्चि॒काय॒ न सखा॑यमी॒षे ॥ (३)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे स्तोता! तुम मेरे साथ उन इंद्र के लिए निकृष्टता रहित द्यावा-पृथिवी में अद्वितीय एवं नए स्तोत्र को बोलो जो यज्ञों में उत्पन्न स्तोत्रों को सुनने के लिए उतने ही इच्छुक हैं, जितने कि शत्रुओं को देखने के लिए हैं. वे अपने मित्रों का बुरा नहीं चाहते. (३)
EN English Translation
This is the hymn! You speak with me the unique and new hymns in the desolately derided diwa-prithvi for those Indras who are as willing to listen to the hymns produced in the yagnas as they are to see the enemies. They don't want the bad of their friends. (3)
इन्द्रा॑य॒ गिरो॒ अनि॑शितसर्गा अ॒पः प्रेर॑यं॒ सग॑रस्य बु॒ध्नात् । यो अक्षे॑णेव च॒क्रिया॒ शची॑भि॒र्विष्व॑क्त॒स्तम्भ॑ पृथि॒वीमु॒त द्याम् ॥ (४)

मैंने इंद्र के लिए सर्वोच्च स्तुतियां की हैं. इन स्तुतियों द्वारा मैंने अंतरिक्ष के जल को बरसने के लिए प्रेरित किया है. वे इंद्र अपने कर्मो द्वारा द्यावा और पृथ्वी को इस प्रकार धारण करते हैं, जिस प्रकार धुरा पहियों को धारण करता है. (४)
EN English Translation
I have made the highest praises for Indra. By these praises I have inspired the waters of space to rain down. Those Indras, through their deeds, hold the dyava and the earth in the same way that the axle holds the wheels. (4)
आपा॑न्तमन्युस्तृ॒पल॑प्रभर्मा॒ धुनिः॒ शिमी॑वा॒ञ्छरु॑माँ ऋजी॒षी । सोमो॒ विश्वा॑न्यत॒सा वना॑नि॒ नार्वागिन्द्रं॑ प्रति॒माना॑नि देभुः ॥ (५)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
पीने के पश्चात् ओज उत्पन्न करने वाले पत्थरों द्वारा शीघ्रता से कूटे गए शत्रुओं को कंपाने वाले कर्मठ आयुधधारी एवं गतिशील सोम सभी वनों को बढ़ाते हैं. ये वन न तो इंद्र की समानता कर सकते हैं, न उन्हें लघु बना सकते हैं. (५)
EN English Translation
The industrious ordnance and dynamic mons that tremble at the enemies quickly crushed by the stones that produce oz after drinking, increase all the forests. These forests can neither make indra's likeness, nor can they make them small. (5)
न यस्य॒ द्यावा॑पृथि॒वी न धन्व॒ नान्तरि॑क्षं॒ नाद्र॑यः॒ सोमो॑ अक्षाः । यद॑स्य म॒न्युर॑धिनी॒यमा॑नः शृ॒णाति॑ वी॒ळु रु॒जति॑ स्थि॒राणि॑ ॥ (६)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
द्यावा-पृथिवी, उदक, अंतरिक्ष एवं पर्वत जिन इंद्र की समानता नहीं कर सकते, उन्हीं के लिए सोमरस निचोड़ा जाता है. इंद्र का क्रोध जब शत्रुओं पर होता है, उस समय ये दृढ़तापूर्वक शत्रुओं को मारते हैं एवं उनके स्थिर पदार्थो को भी तोड़ डालते हैं. (६)
EN English Translation
For those indras whose indra cannot be equal to the indra, the somras is squeezed. When Indra's anger is on the enemies, at that time, he strongly kills the enemies and also breaks their stable substances. (6)
ज॒घान॑ वृ॒त्रं स्वधि॑ति॒र्वने॑व रु॒रोज॒ पुरो॒ अर॑द॒न्न सिन्धू॑न् । बि॒भेद॑ गि॒रिं नव॒मिन्न कु॒म्भमा गा इन्द्रो॑ अकृणुत स्व॒युग्भिः॑ ॥ (७)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
फरसा जिस प्रकार वृक्षों को काटता है, उसी प्रकार इंद्र शत्रुओं को मारते हैं. इंद्र ने श्रुनगरियों को तोड़ा, वर्षा के जल से नदियों को आकार दिया व पहाड़ों को कच्चे घड़े समान फोड़ा. इंद्र ने अपने साथी मरुतों के साथ जल को हमारे सामने प्रस्तुत किया. (७)
EN English Translation
Just as Farsa cuts down trees, Indra kills the enemies. Indra broke the shrugs, shaped rivers with rainwater and boiled the mountains like raw pitchers. Indra presented the water to us along with his fellow maruts. (7)
त्वं ह॒ त्यदृ॑ण॒या इ॑न्द्र॒ धीरो॒ऽसिर्न पर्व॑ वृजि॒ना शृ॑णासि । प्र ये मि॒त्रस्य॒ वरु॑णस्य॒ धाम॒ युजं॒ न जना॑ मि॒नन्ति॑ मि॒त्रम् ॥ (८)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे धीर इंद्र! तुम स्तोताओं को ऋण से छुड़ाते हो. जिस प्रकार तलवार पशुओं की बोटियां काटती है, उसी प्रकार तुम स्तोताओं के पापों को नष्ट करते हो. जो मूर्ख लोग वरुण और मित्र को धारण करने वाले एवं मित्रतुल्य यज्ञकर्म का लोप करते हैं, उन्हें भी इंद्र नष्ट करते हैं. (८)
EN English Translation
O patient Indra! You redeem the psalms from debt. Just as the sword cuts the boats of animals, so you destroy the sins of the psalms. Indra also destroys those who wear Varuna and the friend and omit the sacrificial work. (8)
प्र ये मि॒त्रं प्रार्य॒मणं॑ दु॒रेवाः॒ प्र सं॒गिरः॒ प्र वरु॑णं मि॒नन्ति॑ । न्य१॒॑मित्रे॑षु व॒धमि॑न्द्र॒ तुम्रं॒ वृष॒न्वृषा॑णमरु॒षं शि॑शीहि ॥ (९)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे अभिलाषापूरक इंद्र! जो बुरे लोग मित्र, अर्यमा, मरुद्गण एवं वरुण से द्वेष करते हैं, उन शत्रुओं के लिए तुम अपना गतिशील, कामवर्षक एवं दीप्तिशाली वज्र तेज करो. (९)
EN English Translation
Oh, this desireful Indra! For the enemies of the evil people who hate friends, Ariyama, Marudgana and Varuna, you must intensify your dynamic, workman and glorious thunderbolt. (9)
इन्द्रो॑ दि॒व इन्द्र॑ ईशे पृथि॒व्या इन्द्रो॑ अ॒पामिन्द्र॒ इत्पर्व॑तानाम् । इन्द्रो॑ वृ॒धामिन्द्र॒ इन्मेधि॑राणा॒मिन्द्रः॒ क्षेमे॒ योगे॒ हव्य॒ इन्द्रः॑ ॥ (१०)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
इंद्र स्वर्ग, धरती, जल, पर्वतों, वृद्धों एवं ज्ञानियों के स्वामी हैं. योग और क्षेम के लिए इंद्र को ही बुलाया जाता है. (१०)
EN English Translation
Indra is the lord of heaven, earth, water, mountains, elders and the wise. Indra is called for yoga and khem. (10)
प्राक्तुभ्य॒ इन्द्रः॒ प्र वृ॒धो अह॑भ्यः॒ प्रान्तरि॑क्षा॒त्प्र स॑मु॒द्रस्य॑ धा॒सेः । प्र वात॑स्य॒ प्रथ॑सः॒ प्र ज्मो अन्ता॒त्प्र सिन्धु॑भ्यो रिरिचे॒ प्र क्षि॒तिभ्यः॑ ॥ (११)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
इंद्र रात, दिन, अंतरिक्ष, जल धारण करने वाले समुद्र विस्तृत वायु, धरती की सीमांत नदियों एवं मानवों से बढ़कर हैं. (११)
EN English Translation
Indra night, day, space, the seas that hold water are more than the vast air, the marginal rivers of the earth and humans. (11)
प्र शोशु॑चत्या उ॒षसो॒ न के॒तुर॑सि॒न्वा ते॑ वर्ततामिन्द्र हे॒तिः । अश्मे॑व विध्य दि॒व आ सृ॑जा॒नस्तपि॑ष्ठेन॒ हेष॑सा॒ द्रोघ॑मित्रान् ॥ (१२)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे इंद्र! तुम्हारा न टूटने वाला आयुध वज्र ज्योति वाली उषा की किरणों के साथ शत्रुओं पर गिरे. जैसे आकाश से गिरने वाली बिजली वृक्षों को नष्ट करती है, उसी प्रकार तुम द्रोह करने वाले अमित्रों को अत्यंत तप्त और गर्जन करने वाले आयुधों से मारो. (१२)
EN English Translation
O Indra! Let your unbreakable weapon fall on the enemies with the rays of usha with the thunderbolt. Just as lightning falling from the sky destroys the trees, so do you strike the unfriendly enemies with the most hot and roaring armaments. (12)
अन्वह॒ मासा॒ अन्विद्वना॒न्यन्वोष॑धी॒रनु॒ पर्व॑तासः । अन्विन्द्रं॒ रोद॑सी वावशा॒ने अन्वापो॑ अजिहत॒ जाय॑मानम् ॥ (१३)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
जैसे ही इंद्र का जन्म हुआ, वैसे ही मास, वन, ओषधियां, पर्वत, एक-दूसरे को चाहने वाले द्यावा-पृथिवी एवं जल उनके पीछे चलने लगे. (१३)
EN English Translation
As soon as Indra was born, the masses, forests, herbs, mountains, the dyava-prithvivis and the water who wanted each other began to follow him. (13)
कर्हि॑ स्वि॒त्सा त॑ इन्द्र चे॒त्यास॑द॒घस्य॒ यद्भि॒नदो॒ रक्ष॒ एष॑त् । मि॒त्र॒क्रुवो॒ यच्छस॑ने॒ न गावः॑ पृथि॒व्या आ॒पृग॑मु॒या शय॑न्ते ॥ (१४)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे इंद्र! तुमने जिस तलवार को फेंककर पापी राक्षसों का छेदन किया था, वह कब फेंकी जाएगी? जिस प्रकार वधशाला में गाएं कटती हैं, उसी प्रकार तुम्हारे इस आयुध से चोट खाकर मित्रों से द्वेष करने वाले राक्षस धरती पर गिरते हैं और सो जाते हैं. (१४)
EN English Translation
O Indra! When will the sword you threw and pierced the sinful demons be thrown away? Just as the cows in the slaughterhouse are cut, so the demons who are hurt by this weapon of yours and hate their friends fall on the earth and fall asleep. (14)
श॒त्रू॒यन्तो॑ अ॒भि ये न॑स्तत॒स्रे महि॒ व्राध॑न्त ओग॒णास॑ इन्द्र । अ॒न्धेना॒मित्रा॒स्तम॑सा सचन्तां सुज्यो॒तिषो॑ अ॒क्तव॒स्ताँ अ॒भि ष्युः॑ ॥ (१५)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे इंद्र! जिन राक्षसों ने हमारे प्रति शत्रुभाव रखकर हमें बाधा पहुंचाई है एवं एकत्र होकर जिन्होंने हमें घेर लिया है, वे गहरे अंधकार में डूब जावें. उनके लिए ज्योति वाली रात भी अंधेरी हो जाए. (१५)
EN English Translation
O Indra! Let the demons who have interrupted us by hostile to us and who have gathered together and surrounded us, drown in deep darkness. Let the night of light also become dark for them. (15)
पु॒रूणि॒ हि त्वा॒ सव॑ना॒ जना॑नां॒ ब्रह्मा॑णि॒ मन्द॑न्गृण॒तामृषी॑णाम् । इ॒मामा॒घोष॒न्नव॑सा॒ सहू॑तिं ति॒रो विश्वा॒ँ अर्च॑तो याह्य॒र्वाङ् ॥ (१६)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे इंद्र! यजमानों के बहुत से यज्ञ एवं स्तुति करते हुए ऋषियों की स्तुतियां तुम्हें प्रसन्न करती हैं. तुम इस स्तुति को शोभायुर्त बताते हुए अन्य सब स्तुतिकर्ताओं का तिरस्कार करो एवं रक्षासाधनों के साथ मेरे सामने स्थित होओ. (१६)
EN English Translation
O Indra! The praises of the sages please you by performing many yagnas and praises of the hosts. You should despise all other praisers, calling this praise a decoration and be before me with the means of defense. (16)
ए॒वा ते॑ व॒यमि॑न्द्र भुञ्जती॒नां वि॒द्याम॑ सुमती॒नां नवा॑नाम् । वि॒द्याम॒ वस्तो॒रव॑सा गृ॒णन्तो॑ वि॒श्वामि॑त्रा उ॒त त॑ इन्द्र नू॒नम् ॥ (१७)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे इंद्र! हम रक्षा करने वाले एवं तुमसे संबंधित नए-नए स्तोत्र प्राप्त करें. हम विश्वामित्र की संतान अपनी रक्षा के लिए तुम्हारी स्तुति करते हुए नाना प्रकार की संपत्ति प्राप्त करें. (१७)
EN English Translation
O Indra! Let's get new hymns related to the protectors and you. May we, the children of Vishwamitra, get various kinds of property while praising you for your protection. (17)
शु॒नं हु॑वेम म॒घवा॑न॒मिन्द्र॑म॒स्मिन्भरे॒ नृत॑मं॒ वाज॑सातौ । शृ॒ण्वन्त॑मु॒ग्रमू॒तये॑ स॒मत्सु॒ घ्नन्तं॑ वृ॒त्राणि॑ सं॒जितं॒ धना॑नाम् ॥ (१८)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हम इस युद्ध में विशाल शरीर वाले, संपत्तिशाली, पुकार सुनने वाले, उग्र संग्रामो में शत्रुओं को मारने वाले एवं शत्रुजनों को भली प्रकार जीतने वाले इंद्र को अन्नप्राप्ति और रक्षा के लिए बुलाते हैं. (१८)
EN English Translation
We call indra, who has a huge body, a rich man, who hears the call, who kills the enemies in fierce battles, and who has won the enemies well in this war, to gain food and protection. (18)
