इ॒च्छन्ति॑ त्वा सो॒म्यासः॒ सखा॑यः सु॒न्वन्ति॒ सोमं॒ दध॑ति॒ प्रयां॑सि । तिति॑क्षन्ते अ॒भिश॑स्तिं॒ जना॑ना॒मिन्द्र॒ त्वदा कश्च॒न हि प्र॑के॒तः ॥ (१)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे इंद्र! सोमरस के योग्य ब्राह्मण तुम्हारी स्तुति करना चाहते हैं. तुम्हारे वे मित्र तुम्हारे लिए सोम निचोड़ते हैं, अन्य हवि धारण करते हैं एवं शत्रुओं का विरोध सहते हैं. संसार में तुमसे अधिक प्रसिद्ध कौन है? (१)
EN English Translation
O Indra! The worthy Brahmins of Somras want to praise you. Those of your friends squeeze the mon for you, hold other havi and endure the opposition of the enemies. Who is more famous than you in the world? (1)
न ते॑ दू॒रे प॑र॒मा चि॒द्रजां॒स्या तु प्र या॑हि हरिवो॒ हरि॑भ्याम् । स्थि॒राय॒ वृष्णे॒ सव॑ना कृ॒तेमा यु॒क्ता ग्रावा॑णः समिधा॒ने अ॒ग्नौ ॥ (२)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे हरे घोड़ों वाले इंद्र! दूरवर्ती स्थान भी तुम्हारे लिए दूर नहीं है. तुम अपने घोड़ों की सहायता से आओ. हे दृढ़ चित्त एवं कामवर्षी इंद्र! यह यज्ञ तुम्हारे लिए किया गया है एवं अग्नि उह्दीप्त होने पर सोम निचोड़ने के लिए पत्थर एक-दूसरे के ऊपर रखे गए हैं. (२)
EN English Translation
O Indra with green horses! The remote place is not even far away for you. You come with the help of your horses. O strong-minded and working indra! This yajna has been done for you and the stones are placed on top of each other to squeeze the som when the agni is out. (2)
इन्द्रः॑ सु॒शिप्रो॑ म॒घवा॒ तरु॑त्रो म॒हाव्रा॑तस्तुविकू॒र्मिरृघा॑वान् । यदु॒ग्रो धा बा॑धि॒तो मर्त्ये॑षु॒ क्व१॒॑ त्या ते॑ वृषभ वी॒र्या॑णि ॥ (३)

हे कामवर्षी इंद्र! तुम परम ऐश्वर्य संपन्न, धनवान्, शत्रुविजयी, मरुतों के विशाल समूह से युक्त, संग्राम में विक्रम प्रदर्शित करने वाले, शत्रुहिंसक एवं शत्रुओं के लिए भंयकर हो. असुरों द्वारा बाधा पहुंचाने पर तुमने जो वीरता दिखाई थी, वह कहां है? (३)
EN English Translation
O karyati Indra! You are the most glorious, rich, the enemy,the enemy,the conqueror, the one with the vast group of maruts, the ones who display Vikram in the battle, the enemy and the enemy. Where is the bravery you showed when the asuras obstructed? (3)
त्वं हि ष्मा॑ च्या॒वय॒न्नच्यु॑ता॒न्येको॑ वृ॒त्रा चर॑सि॒ जिघ्न॑मानः । तव॒ द्यावा॑पृथि॒वी पर्व॑ता॒सोऽनु॑ व्र॒ताय॒ निमि॑तेव तस्थुः ॥ (४)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे इंद्र! तुमने अकेले ही दृढमूल राक्षसों को स्थानच्युत किया है एवं पापों को नष्ट करते हुए तुम स्थित हुए हो. तुम्हारी आज्ञा से धरती, आकाश एवं पर्वत निश्चल से रहते हैं. (४)
EN English Translation
O Indra! You alone have spurred the strong demons and you have been placed while destroying sins. By your command, the earth, the sky and the mountains live in motionless. (4)
उ॒ताभ॑ये पुरुहूत॒ श्रवो॑भि॒रेको॑ दृ॒ळ्हम॑वदो वृत्र॒हा सन् । इ॒मे चि॑दिन्द्र॒ रोद॑सी अपा॒रे यत्सं॑गृ॒भ्णा म॑घवन्का॒शिरित्ते॑ ॥ (५)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे देवों द्वारा अनेक बार बुलाए गए एवं शक्तिशाली इंद्र! तुमने अकेले ही वृत्र का वध करके जो देवों को अभयदान दिया, वह उचित ही है. हे मघवन्, लोक में तुम्हारी महिमा प्रसिद्ध है कि तुम सीमारहित धरती और आकाश को मिलाते हो. (५)
EN English Translation
O Indra, who has been called many times by the gods and the mighty Indra! The gift that you gave to the gods by killing Vritra alone is only right. O Maghvan, your glory in the people is famous that you mix the earth and the sky without limits. (5)
प्र सू त॑ इन्द्र प्र॒वता॒ हरि॑भ्यां॒ प्र ते॒ वज्रः॑ प्रमृ॒णन्ने॑तु॒ शत्रू॑न् । ज॒हि प्र॑ती॒चो अ॑नू॒चः परा॑चो॒ विश्वं॑ स॒त्यं कृ॑णुहि वि॒ष्टम॑स्तु ॥ (६)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे इंद्र! तुम्हारा अश्वयुक्त रथ शत्रुओं की ओर उत्तम मार्ग से चले एवं तुम्हारा वज्र शत्रुओं को मारता हुआ आए. तुम सामने आने वाले, पीछे आने वाले तथा भागने वाले शत्रुओं को मारो. तुम संसार को यज्ञपूर्ण करने की शक्ति दो. (६)
EN English Translation
O Indra! Your horse-drawn chariot should walk in the best way towards the enemies, and your thunderbolt came to kill the enemies. You kill the enemies who come in front, those who follow, and the fleeing enemies. Give the power to make the world miserable. (6)
यस्मै॒ धायु॒रद॑धा॒ मर्त्या॒याभ॑क्तं चिद्भजते गे॒ह्यं१॒॑ सः । भ॒द्रा त॑ इन्द्र सुम॒तिर्घृ॒ताची॑ स॒हस्र॑दाना पुरुहूत रा॒तिः ॥ (७)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे नित्य ऐश्वर्ययुक्त इंद्र! जिस मनुष्य के लिए तुम शक्ति धारण करते हो, वह पहले अप्राप्त गृहसंबंधी वस्तुओं को प्राप्त करता है. हे पुरुहूत! घृतादि हवि से युक्त तुम्हारी शोभन बुद्धि कल्याणकारी है तथा तुम्हारी धनदान शक्ति असीम है. (७)
EN English Translation
O eternally glorious Indra! The man for whom you possess power first acquires the undefined household objects. O Puruhoot! Your brave intellect with a lot of pride is beneficial and your wealth-giving power is limitless. (7)
स॒हदा॑नुं पुरुहूत क्षि॒यन्त॑मह॒स्तमि॑न्द्र॒ सं पि॑ण॒क्कुणा॑रुम् । अ॒भि वृ॒त्रं वर्ध॑मानं॒ पिया॑रुम॒पाद॑मिन्द्र त॒वसा॑ जघन्थ ॥ (८)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे पुरुहूत इंद्र! तुम माता दानवी के साथ वर्तमान, बाधक एवं गरजने वाले असुर वृत्र को बिना हाथों का बनाकर चूर्ण कर दो. हे इंद्र! बढ़ते हुए एवं हिंसक वृत्र को पादहीन करके अपनी शक्ति से मार डालो. (८)
EN English Translation
O Puruhut Indra! You make the present, the asura vrithra, which is present, hindering and thundering with the mother demon, powdered without hands. O Indra! Kill with your power by neutralizing the growing and violent circle. (8)
नि सा॑म॒नामि॑षि॒रामि॑न्द्र॒ भूमिं॑ म॒हीम॑पा॒रां सद॑ने ससत्थ । अस्त॑भ्ना॒द्द्यां वृ॑ष॒भो अ॒न्तरि॑क्ष॒मर्ष॒न्त्वाप॒स्त्वये॒ह प्रसू॑ताः ॥ (९)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे इंद्र! तुमने महती, सीमारहित एवं चंचल धरती को समतल करके उसके स्थान पर स्थापित किया था. कामवर्षक इंद्र ने धरती और आकाश को इस प्रकार धारण किया है कि वे गिर न सकें. तुम्हारे द्वारा प्रेरित जल धरती पर आए. (९)
EN English Translation
O Indra! You levelled the earth, borderless and fickle and set it in its place. The workman Indra holds the earth and the sky in such a way that they cannot fall. The water inspired by you came to the earth. (9)
अ॒ला॒तृ॒णो व॒ल इ॑न्द्र व्र॒जो गोः पु॒रा हन्तो॒र्भय॑मानो॒ व्या॑र । सु॒गान्प॒थो अ॑कृणोन्नि॒रजे॒ गाः प्राव॒न्वाणीः॑ पुरुहू॒तं धम॑न्तीः ॥ (१०)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे इंद्र! हिंसक, मध्यमावासी एवं विश्रामस्थल बल नामक मेघ वज्र प्रहार से पहले ही डर कर छिन्नभिन्न हो गया. इंद्र ने जल निकालने के लिए मार्ग सुगम कर दिया था. सुंदर एवं शब्द करता हुआ जल पुरुहूत इंद्र के सम्मुख आया था. (१०)
EN English Translation
O Indra! The violent, medieval and resting forces were scattered in fear even before the thunderbolt struck. Indra had made the way easier for the water to be drained. The beautiful and worded water came before Puruhut Indra. (10)
एको॒ द्वे वसु॑मती समी॒ची इन्द्र॒ आ प॑प्रौ पृथि॒वीमु॒त द्याम् । उ॒तान्तरि॑क्षाद॒भि नः॑ समी॒क इ॒षो र॒थीः स॒युजः॑ शूर॒ वाजा॑न् ॥ (११)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
इंद्र ने बिना किसी की सहायता के धरती-आकाश को परस्पर मिला हुआ एवं धनसंपन्न बनाया था. हे शूर एवं रथस्वामी इंद्र! हमारे पास रहने की इच्छा से रथ में जुड़े हुए घोड़ों को आकाश से हमारी ओर हांको. (११)
EN English Translation
Indra had made the earth and the sky interconnected and wealthy without anyone's help. O Shur and Rathaswami Indra! With the desire to stay with us, move the horses attached in the chariot towards us from the sky. (11)
दिशः॒ सूर्यो॒ न मि॑नाति॒ प्रदि॑ष्टा दि॒वेदि॑वे॒ हर्य॑श्वप्रसूताः । सं यदान॒ळध्व॑न॒ आदिदश्वै॑र्वि॒मोच॑नं कृणुते॒ तत्त्व॑स्य ॥ (१२)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
इंद्र ने सूर्य के प्रतिदिन के गमन के लिए जो दिशाएं निश्चित की हैं, सूर्य उनका कभी उल्लंघन नहीं करते. सूर्य जब अपना मार्ग समाप्त कर लेते हैं तो घोड़ों को रथ से छोड़ देते हैं, पर यह काम भी इंद्र का ही है. (१२)
EN English Translation
The directions that Indra has set for the daily movement of the sun, the sun never violates them. When the sun has finished its path, he leaves the horses from the chariot, but this is also indra's job. (12)
दिदृ॑क्षन्त उ॒षसो॒ याम॑न्न॒क्तोर्वि॒वस्व॑त्या॒ महि॑ चि॒त्रमनी॑कम् । विश्वे॑ जानन्ति महि॒ना यदागा॒दिन्द्र॑स्य॒ कर्म॒ सुकृ॑ता पु॒रूणि॑ ॥ (१३)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
सब लोग रात बीतने के बाद एवं उषाकाल की समाप्ति पर महान् एवं तेजस्वी सूर्य को देखना चाहते हैं. उषाकाल बीत जाने पर सब लोग अग्निहोत्र आदि को ही कर्म समझते हैं. ये सब उत्तम कर्म इंद्र के ही हैं. (१३)
EN English Translation
Everyone wants to see the great and bright sun after the night passes and at the end of the morning. When the ushakaal has passed, everyone considers agnihotra etc. to be karma. All these good deeds belong to Indra. (13)
महि॒ ज्योति॒र्निहि॑तं व॒क्षणा॑स्वा॒मा प॒क्वं च॑रति॒ बिभ्र॑ती॒ गौः । विश्वं॒ स्वाद्म॒ सम्भृ॑तमु॒स्रिया॑यां॒ यत्सी॒मिन्द्रो॒ अद॑धा॒द्भोज॑नाय ॥ (१४)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
इंद्र ने नदियों में महान् एवं तेजस्वी जल भरा है. इंद्र ने नई ब्याई हुई गाय में परम स्वादिष्ट खाद्य पदार्थ रखा है, इसलिए वह दूध धारण करके घूमती है. (१४)
EN English Translation
Indra has filled the rivers with great and bright water. Indra has kept the most delicious foods in the newly married cow, so she walks around wearing milk. (14)
इन्द्र॒ दृह्य॑ यामको॒शा अ॑भूवन्य॒ज्ञाय॑ शिक्ष गृण॒ते सखि॑भ्यः । दु॒र्मा॒यवो॑ दु॒रेवा॒ मर्त्या॑सो निष॒ङ्गिणो॑ रि॒पवो॒ हन्त्वा॑सः ॥ (१५)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे इंद्र! राक्षस मार्ग रोकने वाले हैं, इसलिए तुम दृढ़ बनो व यज्ञ एवं स्तुति करने वाले यजमान तथा उसके पुत्रादि के लिए मनचाहा फल दो. बुरे आयुध फेंकने वाले, धीरेधीरे चलने वाले, हत्यारे एवं तूणीरधारी शत्रुओं को मारो. (१५)
EN English Translation
O Indra! The demons are going to stop the way, so be firm and give the desired fruit to the host who performs yajna and praise and to his son. Kill the evil armament throwers, the slow walkers, the killers and the enemy with a swordsman. (15)
सं घोषः॑ शृण्वेऽव॒मैर॒मित्रै॑र्ज॒ही न्ये॑ष्व॒शनिं॒ तपि॑ष्ठाम् । वृ॒श्चेम॒धस्ता॒द्वि रु॑जा॒ सह॑स्व ज॒हि रक्षो॑ मघवन्र॒न्धय॑स्व ॥ (१६)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे इंद्र! हम समीपवर्ती शत्रुओं का भयंकर शब्द सुन रहे हैं. तुम अपने संतापकारी वज्र का इन पर प्रयोग करके इन्हें मारो, इन शत्रुओं को जड़ से समाप्त करो, इन्हें विशेष रूप से बाधा पहुंचाओ तथा पराजित करी. हे इंद्र! पहले राक्षसों को मारो. इसके बाद इस यज्ञ को पूरा करो. (१६)
EN English Translation
O Indra! We are hearing the terrible words of the nearby enemies. You use your annoying thunderbolt on them to kill them, root out these enemies, hinder them specifically and defeat them. O Indra! Kill the monsters first. After this, complete this yajna. (16)
उद्वृ॑ह॒ रक्षः॑ स॒हमू॑लमिन्द्र वृ॒श्चा मध्यं॒ प्रत्यग्रं॑ शृणीहि । आ कीव॑तः सल॒लूकं॑ चकर्थ ब्रह्म॒द्विषे॒ तपु॑षिं हे॒तिम॑स्य ॥ (१७)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे इंद्र! यज्ञ में विघ्न डालने वाले राक्षसों को जड़ से नष्ट करो, उनका बीच का हिस्सा काटो तथा ऊपर का भाग समाप्त करो. चलने वाले राक्षस को दूर फेंक दो. ब्राह्मणों से द्वेष करने वाले उस राक्षस पर संतापकारी अस्त्र फेंको. (१७)
EN English Translation
O Indra! Destroy the demons who interfere with the yajna, cut off their middle part and finish the upper part. Throw away the walking monster. Throw an angry weapon at the demon who hates the Brahmins. (17)
स्व॒स्तये॑ वा॒जिभि॑श्च प्रणेतः॒ सं यन्म॒हीरिष॑ आ॒सत्सि॑ पू॒र्वीः । रा॒यो व॒न्तारो॑ बृह॒तः स्या॑मा॒स्मे अ॑स्तु॒ भग॑ इन्द्र प्र॒जावा॑न् ॥ (१८)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे विश्वपालक इंद्र! हमें घोड़ों का अधिपति एवं अविनाशी बनाओ. यदि तुम हमारे समीप रहोगे तो हम बहुत से अन्न एवं विशाल धन का उपभोग करते हुए महान् बनेंगे. हे इंद्र! हमारे पास संतानयुक्त धन दो. (१८)
EN English Translation
O world-keeper Indra! Make us the owners of horses and indestructible. If you stay near us, we will become great, consuming many grains and vast riches. O Indra! Give us the money with the children. (18)
आ नो॑ भर॒ भग॑मिन्द्र द्यु॒मन्तं॒ नि ते॑ दे॒ष्णस्य॑ धीमहि प्ररे॒के । ऊ॒र्व इ॑व पप्रथे॒ कामो॑ अ॒स्मे तमा पृ॑ण वसुपते॒ वसू॑नाम् ॥ (१९)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे इंद्र दीप्तियुक्त धन हमारे पास लाओ. हम तुझ दानशील के धन के पात्र हैं. हे धनपति! हमारी अभिलाषा बड़वानल के समान बढ़ गई है, तुम उसे पूर्ण करो. (१९)
EN English Translation
O Indra, bring us the radiant wealth. We deserve the wealth of your charity. O rich man! Our desire has increased like that of Baravanal, you fulfill it. (19)
इ॒मं कामं॑ मन्दया॒ गोभि॒रश्वै॑श्च॒न्द्रव॑ता॒ राध॑सा प॒प्रथ॑श्च । स्व॒र्यवो॑ म॒तिभि॒स्तुभ्यं॒ विप्रा॒ इन्द्रा॑य॒ वाहः॑ कुशि॒कासो॑ अक्रन् ॥ (२०)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे इंद्र! हमारी इस धनाभिलाषा को गायों, घोड़ों एवं दीप्तियुक्त धन से पूरा करो. इन संपत्तियों द्वारा हमें प्रसिद्ध बनाओ. स्वर्गादि सुख के अभिलाषी एवं यज्ञकर्म में कुशल कुशिकगोत्रीय ऋषियों ने मंत्रों द्वारा यह स्तुति की है. (२०)
EN English Translation
O Indra! Complete this wealth of ours with cows, horses and bright money. Make us famous by these properties. This is praised by kushikgotriya sages who desire for heavenly happiness and are skilled in yajnakarma through mantras. (20)
आ नो॑ गो॒त्रा द॑र्दृहि गोपते॒ गाः सम॒स्मभ्यं॑ स॒नयो॑ यन्तु॒ वाजाः॑ । दि॒वक्षा॑ असि वृषभ स॒त्यशु॑ष्मो॒ऽस्मभ्यं॒ सु म॑घवन्बोधि गो॒दाः ॥ (२१)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे स्वर्ग के स्वामी इंद्र! बादलों को फाड़ कर हमें जल दो. इसके बाद उपभोग के योग्य अन्न हमारे पास आए. हे कामवर्षक! तुम आकाश को व्याप्त किए हो. हे सत्य सामर्थ्य मघवन्! हमें गाएं दो. (२१)
EN English Translation
O Lord of heaven Indra! Tear the clouds and burn us. After this, the food worth consuming came to us. Oh, the workman! You have pervaded the sky. O true power! Let us sing. (21)
शु॒नं हु॑वेम म॒घवा॑न॒मिन्द्र॑म॒स्मिन्भरे॒ नृत॑मं॒ वाज॑सातौ । शृ॒ण्वन्त॑मु॒ग्रमू॒तये॑ स॒मत्सु॒ घ्नन्तं॑ वृ॒त्राणि॑ सं॒जितं॒ धना॑नाम् ॥ (२२)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
धन प्राप्ति वाले संग्राम में उत्साहपूर्ण, धनवान्, सकल विश्व के नेता, स्तुतियां सुनने वाले, शत्रुओं को भयंकर, युद्धों में राक्षसविनाशकारी एवं शत्रुओं के धन के विजेता इंद्र को हम रक्षा के लिए बुलाते हैं. (२२)
EN English Translation
We call indra, who is enthusiastic in the battle of wealth, the leader of the rich world, the leader of the world, the hearer of praises, the fiercest of the enemies, the demon destroyer in wars, and the winner of the wealth of the enemies. (22)
