अव द्रप्सो अँशुमतीमतिष्ठदीयानः कृष्णो दशभिः सहस्रैः । आवत्तमिन्द्रः शच्या धमन्तमप स्नीहितिं नृमणा अधद्राः ॥ (१)

इंद्र सभी को प्रिय हैं. उन्होंने शत्रुओं द्वारा आक्रमण किए जाने पर उन पर फिर से आक्रमण कर के उन की सेना को हरा दिया. उन्होंने कृष्णासुर को भी हराया. कृष्णासुर बहुत तीब्र गति वाला था. उस ने दस हजार सैनिकों को साथ ले कर उन पर हमला किया था. कृष्णासुर सभी के लिए दुःखदायक था. अंशुमती (नदी) के तट पर उस ने सभी को (आकृष्ट कर के) अपने चंगुल में फंसा लिया था. उन्होंने इतने शक्तिमान कृष्णासुर को भी हरा दिया. EN English Translation
Indra is dear to all. When attacked by the enemies, he attacked them again and defeated his army. He also defeated Krishnasur. Krishnasur was very sharp. He took ten thousand soldiers along and attacked them. Krishnasur was sad for everyone. On the banks of the Anshumati (river), he had trapped everyone (by attracting) in his clutches. He also defeated so powerful Krishnasur. (1)
वृत्रस्य त्वा श्वसथादीषमाणा विश्वे देवा अजहुर्ये सखायः । मरुद्भिरिन्द्र सख्यं ते अस्त्वथेमा विश्वाः पृतना जयासि ॥ (२)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे इंद्र! सभी सहायक देवतागण वृत्रासुर से डर कर आप का साथ छोड़ कर भाग गए (चले गए). उन सब के चले जाने पर आप ने मरुदगणों की मित्रता के कारण उन के सहयोग से दुश्मनों की सेना को हराया. (२)
EN English Translation
O Indra! All the supporting gods, fearing Vritrasura, left you and fled (left). When all of them left, you defeated the army of enemies with their cooperation due to the friendship of the Marudgans. (2)
विधुं दद्राणँ समने बहूनाँ युवानँ सन्तं पलितो जगार । देवस्य पश्य काव्यं महित्वाद्या ममार स ह्यः समान ॥ (३)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे यजमानो! इंद्र युद्ध में वीरता दर्शाते हैं. वे शत्रुओं की सेना को हराने वाले हैं. उन की कृपा (प्रभाव) से बूढ़ा भी जवान हो जाता है. आप उन की काव्य महिमा देखिए, जो आज मरी हुई सी लगने पर भी कल फिर जी जाती है अर्थात् उन की महिमा अमिट है. (३)
EN English Translation
O hosts! Indra shows bravery in war. They are going to defeat the army of enemies. With their grace (influence), the old man also becomes young. You see the poetic glory of them, who, even if they seem dead today, live again tomorrow, that is, their glory is indelible. (3)
त्वँ ह त्यत्सप्तभ्यो जायमानोऽशत्रुभ्यो अभवः शत्रुरिन्द्र । गूढे द्यावापृथिवी अन्वविन्दो विभुमद्भ्यो भुवनेभ्यो रणं धाः ॥ (४)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे इंद्र! आप का कोई शत्रु उत्पन्न नहीं हुआ है अर्थात् आप अजातशत्रु हैं. आप उत्पन्न होते ही वृत्रासुर आदि छह राक्षसों के दुश्मन हो गए. अपने अंधकार से स्वर्गलोक और पृथ्वीलोक को बचाया. आप ने दोनों लोकों को प्रकाश युक्त बनाया. आप ने ही दोनों लोकों को स्थिरता दी. आप ने ही दोनों लोकों को सुंदर बनाया. (४)
EN English Translation
O Indra! You have no enemies, that is, you are ajatshatru. As soon as you were born, Vritrasura etc. became the enemy of six demons. Saved heaven and earth from his darkness. You made both worlds light. You gave stability to both worlds. You made both the worlds beautiful. (4)
मेडिं न त्वा वज्रिणं भृष्टिमन्तं पुरुधस्मानं वृषभँ स्थिरप्स्नुम् । करोष्यर्यस्तरुषीर्दुवस्युरिन्द्र द्युक्षं वृत्रहणं गृणीषे ॥ (५)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे यजमानो! अच्छे कमो के कारण सभी जगह इंद्र की सराहना होती है. वे वृत्रासुर व शत्रुविनाशक हैं. उन की स्वर्गलोक में प्रतिष्ठा है. वे बलवान हैं. वे युद्धों में स्थिर रहते हैं. वे वज्रधारी और दुष्टनाशक हैं. वे विजयदाता हैं. हम भी उन की महिमा की सराहना करते हैं. (५)
EN English Translation
O hosts! Due to good deeds, Indra is appreciated everywhere. They are vritrasura and enemies. They have a reputation in heaven. They are strong. They remain stable in wars. They are thunderbolts and evil destroyers. They are the winners. We also appreciate the glory of them. (5)
प्र वो महे महेवृधे भरध्वं प्रचेतसे प्र सुमतिं कृणुध्वम् । विशः पूर्वीः प्र चर चर्षणिप्राः ॥ (६)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे यजमानो! इंद्र महान कार्य करने वाले और प्रसिद्ध हैं. आप उन को सोमरस चढ़ाते समय उत्तम स्तोत्रों से उन की उपासना कीजिए. वे उपासकों की इच्छा पूरी करते हैं. वे उपासकों का कल्याण करते हैं. (६)
EN English Translation
O hosts! Indra is a great worker and famous. You should worship him with good stotras while offering Somras to him. They fulfill the wishes of worshippers. They do the welfare of worshippers. (6)
शुनँ हुवेम मघवानमिन्द्रमस्मिन्भरे नृतमं वाजसातौ । शृण्वन्तमुग्रमूतये समत्सु ध्नन्तं वृत्राणि सञ्जितं धनानि ॥ (७)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे यजमानो! इंद्र अन्नदाता, उत्साही, वैभववान व उत्तम वीर हैं. वे हमारी प्रार्थना को बहुत गौर से सुनते हैं. वे शत्रुओं के संचित धन को जीत लेते हैं. वे शत्रुनाशक हैं. हम उन की सहायता चाहते हैं. हम इसलिए उन का आह्वान करते हैं. (७)
EN English Translation
O hosts! Indra is a food provider, enthusiastic, glorious and excellent hero. They listen to our prayers very carefully. They conquer the accumulated wealth of enemies. They are enemies. We want their help. We therefore invoke them. (7)
उदु ब्रह्माण्यैरत श्रवस्येन्द्रँ समर्ये महया वसिष्ठ । आ यो विश्वानि श्रवसा ततानोपश्रोता म ईवतो वचाँसि ॥ (८)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे वसिष्ठ (ऋषि)! आप इंद्रियों को जीतने वाले हैं. वे यशवर्द्धक हैं. वे उपासकों की प्रार्थना ध्यान से सुनते हैं. हम उन से अन्न चाहते हैं. आप यज्ञ में उन की महिमा वर्णित करने वाली प्रार्थनाएं पढ़ने की कृपा कीजिए. (८)
EN English Translation
O Vasishtha (sage)! You are going to win the senses. They are traitors. They listen carefully to the prayers of the worshippers. We want food from them. Please read the prayers describing his glory in the yajna. (8)
चक्रं यदस्याप्स्वा निषत्तमुतो तदस्मै मध्विच्चच्छद्यात् । पृथिव्यामतिषितं यदूधः पयो गोष्वदधा ओषधीषु ॥ (९)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे यजमानो! इंद्र अंतरिक्ष में देदीप्यमान हैं. वे अपने वज्र से यजमानों के लिए मीठा जल भेजते हैं (बरसाते हैं). वही जल पृथ्वी पर गायों में दूध और ओषधियों में गुणकारी रस के रूप में हम सभी को प्राप्त होता है. (९)
EN English Translation
O hosts! Indra is radiant in space. They send sweet water to the hosts with their thunderbolt (rain). The same water is obtained by all of us in the form of milk in cows and beneficial juice in medicines on earth. (9)
