यच्चि॒द्धि ते॒ विशो॑ यथा॒ प्र दे॑व वरुण व्र॒तम् । मि॒नी॒मसि॒ द्यवि॑द्यवि ॥ (१)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे वरुण देव! संसार के विद्वान् तुम्हारे व्रत का अनुष्ठान करने में जिस प्रकार भूलें करते हैं, उसी प्रकार हमसे भी प्रतिदिन प्रमाद होता रहता है. (१)
EN English Translation
O Varun Dev! Just as the scholars of the world forget to perform the ritual of your fast, we are also tempted every day. (1)
मा नो॑ व॒धाय॑ ह॒त्नवे॑ जिहीळा॒नस्य॑ रीरधः । मा हृ॑णा॒नस्य॑ म॒न्यवे॑ ॥ (२)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे वरुण! जो तुम्हारा अनादर करता है, तुम उसके लिए घातक बन जाते हो. तुम हमारा वध मत करना. तुम हमारे ऊपर क्रोध मत करना. (२)
EN English Translation
Hey Varun! To him who disrespects you, you become deadly to him. Don't you slaughter us. Don't you get angry at us. (2)
वि मृ॑ळी॒काय॑ ते॒ मनो॑ र॒थीरश्वं॒ न संदि॑तम् । गी॒र्भिर्व॑रुण सीमहि ॥ (३)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे वरुण देव! जिस प्रकार रथ का अधिपति थके हुए घोड़े को स्वस्थ करता है, उसी प्रकार हम भी स्तुतियों द्वारा तुम्हारा मन प्रसन्न करते हैं. (३)
EN English Translation
O Varun Dev! Just as the owner of the chariot heals the tired horse, so we also please your heart by the praises. (3)
परा॒ हि मे॒ विम॑न्यवः॒ पत॑न्ति॒ वस्य॑इष्टये । वयो॒ न व॑स॒तीरुप॑ ॥ (४)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
जिस प्रकार चिड़ियां अपने घोंसलों की ओर तेजी से उड़ती हैं, उसी प्रकार हमारी क्रोधरहित विचारधाराएं जीवन प्राप्त करने के लिए दौड़ रही हैं. (४)
EN English Translation
Just as birds fly fast towards their nests, so our angerless ideologies are racing to get to life. (4)
क॒दा क्ष॑त्र॒श्रियं॒ नर॒मा वरु॑णं करामहे । मृ॒ळी॒कायो॑रु॒चक्ष॑सम् ॥ (५)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हम शक्तिशाली नेताओं तथा अगणित लोगों पर दृष्टि रखने वाले वरुण को इस यज्ञ में ले आवेंगे. (५)
EN English Translation
We will take Varuna, who has an eye on powerful leaders and countless people, to this yagna. (5)
तदित्स॑मा॒नमा॑शाते॒ वेन॑न्ता॒ न प्र यु॑च्छतः । धृ॒तव्र॑ताय दा॒शुषे॑ ॥ (६)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
मित्र और वरुण हव्य देने वाले यजमान पर प्रसन्न होकर हमारे द्वारा दिया हुआ साधारण हवि स्वीकार कर लेते हैं. वे कभी भी उसका त्याग नहीं करते. (६)
EN English Translation
Friends and Varuns are pleased with the host who gives the havan and accept the simple gift given by us. They never abandon him. (6)
वेदा॒ यो वी॒नां प॒दम॒न्तरि॑क्षेण॒ पत॑ताम् । वेद॑ ना॒वः स॑मु॒द्रियः॑ ॥ (७)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
वरुण आकाश में उड़ने वाले पक्षियों और सागर में चलने वाली नौकाओं का मार्ग जानते हैं. (७)
EN English Translation
Varuna knows the path of birds flying in the sky and the boats that run in the ocean. (7)
वेद॑ मा॒सो धृ॒तव्र॑तो॒ द्वाद॑श प्र॒जाव॑तः । वेदा॒ य उ॑प॒जाय॑ते ॥ (८)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
वरुण उक्त महिमा को धारण करके समय-समय पर उत्पन्न होने वाले बारह महीनों को जानते हैं और तेरहवें मास को भी जानते हैं. (८)
EN English Translation
Varuna knows the twelve months that arise from time to time by holding the said glory and also knows the thirteenth month. (8)
वेद॒ वात॑स्य वर्त॒निमु॒रोरृ॒ष्वस्य॑ बृह॒तः । वेदा॒ ये अ॒ध्यास॑ते ॥ (९)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
वरुण विस्तार से संपन्न, दर्शनीय और अधिक गुण वाली वायु का मार्ग जानते हैं. वे आकाश में निवास करने वाले देवों से भी परिचित हैं. (९)
EN English Translation
Varuna knows the path of the air that is rich in detail, scenic and of greater quality. They are also familiar with the gods who dwell in the sky. (9)
नि ष॑साद धृ॒तव्र॑तो॒ वरु॑णः प॒स्त्या॒३॒॑स्वा । साम्रा॑ज्याय सु॒क्रतुः॑ ॥ (१०)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
व्रत धारण करने वाले एवं उत्तम कर्म करने वाले वरुण दैवी प्रजाओं पर साम्राज्य करने के लिए आकर बैठे थे. (१०)
EN English Translation
Varuna, who fasted and did good deeds, had come and sat down to reign over the divine people. (10)
अतो॒ विश्वा॒न्यद्भु॑ता चिकि॒त्वाँ अ॒भि प॑श्यति । कृ॒तानि॒ या च॒ कर्त्वा॑ ॥ (११)

बुद्धिमान् मनुष्य वरुण की अनुकंपा से वर्तमान काल और भविष्यत् काल की सारी आश्चर्यजनक घटनाओं को देख लेते हैं. (११)
EN English Translation
Wise men see all the amazing events of the present and the future with the grace of Varuna. (11)
स नो॑ वि॒श्वाहा॑ सु॒क्रतु॑रादि॒त्यः सु॒पथा॑ करत् । प्र ण॒ आयूं॑षि तारिषत् ॥ (१२)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
शोभन बुद्धि वाले वे ही अदितिपुत्र वरुण हमें सदा उत्तम मार्ग पर चलने वाला बनावें एवं हमारी आयु को बढ़ावें. (१२)
EN English Translation
May the same Aditiputra Varun, who has a good intellect, make us always walk on the best path and increase our lifespan. (12)
बिभ्र॑द्द्रा॒पिं हि॑र॒ण्ययं॒ वरु॑णो वस्त नि॒र्णिज॑म् । परि॒ स्पशो॒ नि षे॑दिरे ॥ (१३)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
वरुण सोने का कवच धारण करके अपने बलिष्ठ शरीर को ढकते हैं. उसके चारों ओर सुनहरी किरणें फैलती हैं. (१३)
EN English Translation
Varuna covers his strong body by wearing a gold armor. Golden rays spread around him. (13)
न यं दिप्स॑न्ति दि॒प्सवो॒ न द्रुह्वा॑णो॒ जना॑नाम् । न दे॒वम॒भिमा॑तयः ॥ (१४)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हिंसा करने वाले लोग भयभीत होकर वरुण की शत्रुता छोड़ देते हैं. मनुष्यों को पीड़ा पहुंचाने वाले लोग उन्हें पीड़ा नहीं पहुंचाते. पाप करने वाले लोग उनके प्रति पाप का आचरण त्याग देते हैं. (१४)
EN English Translation
Those who commit violence leave Varun's enmity in fear. Those who cause pain to humans do not cause them pain. Sinful people renounce the conduct of sin toward them. (14)
उ॒त यो मानु॑षे॒ष्वा यश॑श्च॒क्रे असा॒म्या । अ॒स्माक॑मु॒दरे॒ष्वा ॥ (१५)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
वरुण ने मनुष्यों की उदरपूर्ति के लिए पर्याप्त अन्न पैदा किया है. वे विशेष रूप से हमारी उदरपूर्ति करते हैं. (१५)
EN English Translation
Varuna has produced enough food for the stomach supply of human beings. They especially supply our stomach. (15)
परा॑ मे यन्ति धी॒तयो॒ गावो॒ न गव्यू॑ती॒रनु॑ । इ॒च्छन्ती॑रुरु॒चक्ष॑सम् ॥ (१६)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
बहुत से लोगों ने वरुण के दर्शन किए हैं. जिस प्रकार गाएं गोशाला की ओर जाती हैं, उसी प्रकार कभी पीछे न लौटने वाली मेरी विचारधारा वरुण की ओर अग्रसर होती है. (१६)
EN English Translation
Many people have seen Varuna. Just as the cows go towards the goshala, so my never-to-be-back ideology moves towards Varuna. (16)
सं नु वो॑चावहै॒ पुन॒र्यतो॑ मे॒ मध्वाभृ॑तम् । होते॑व॒ क्षद॑से प्रि॒यम् ॥ (१७)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे वरुण! मधुर रस वाला मेरा हव्य तैयार है. तुम होता के समान उस हव्य का भक्षण करो. इसके पश्चात् हम लोग आपस में बातें करेंगे. (१७)
EN English Translation
Hey Varun! My havya with sweet juice is ready. Eat that havya like you would. After that, we will talk to each other. (17)
दर्शं॒ नु वि॒श्वद॑र्शतं॒ दर्शं॒ रथ॒मधि॒ क्षमि॑ । ए॒ता जु॑षत मे॒ गिरः॑ ॥ (१८)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
सब लोग जिन वरुण के दर्शन करते हैं, उन्हें मैंने देखा है. मैंने कई बार धरती पर चलता हुआ उनका रथ देखा है. वरुण ने मेरी प्रार्थना स्वीकार की है. (१८)
EN English Translation
I have seen the Varuna that everyone sees. I have seen his chariot walking on earth many times. Varun has accepted my prayers. (18)
इ॒मं मे॑ वरुण श्रुधी॒ हव॑म॒द्या च॑ मृळय । त्वाम॑व॒स्युरा च॑के ॥ (१९)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे वरुण देव! आज मेरी पुकार सुनो. आज मुझे सुख प्रदान करो. मैं अपनी रक्षा की इच्छा से तुम्हें बुला रहा हूं. (१९)
EN English Translation
O Varun Dev! Listen to my call today. Give me happiness today. I'm calling you with my desire to protect you. (19)
त्वं विश्व॑स्य मेधिर दि॒वश्च॒ ग्मश्च॑ राजसि । स याम॑नि॒ प्रति॑ श्रुधि ॥ (२०)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे बुद्धिमान् वरुण! आकाश, धरती एवं समस्त संसार में तुम्हारा प्रकाश फैला हुआ है. तुम हमारी प्रार्थना सुनकर हमारी रक्षा करने का वचन दो. (२०)
EN English Translation
O wise Varun! Your light is spread over the sky, the earth, and all the world. Listen to our prayers and promise to protect us. (20)
उदु॑त्त॒मं मु॑मुग्धि नो॒ वि पाशं॑ मध्य॒मं चृ॑त । अवा॑ध॒मानि॑ जी॒वसे॑ ॥ (२१)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हमारे सिर वाले फंदे को ऊपर से और कमर के फंदों को बीच से खोल दो, जिससे हम जीवन धारण कर सकें. (२१)
EN English Translation
Open the noose with our heads from above and the nooses of the waist from the middle, so that we can take on life. (21)
