अ॒स्मा इदु॒ प्र त॒वसे॑ तु॒राय॒ प्रयो॒ न ह॑र्मि॒ स्तोमं॒ माहि॑नाय । ऋची॑षमा॒याध्रि॑गव॒ ओह॒मिन्द्रा॑य॒ ब्रह्मा॑णि रा॒तत॑मा ॥ (१)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
मैं इंद्र को प्राप्त होने वाले स्तोत्र का भलीभांति उच्चारण करता हूं. इंद्र बलवान, सोमपान के लिए शीघ्रता करने वाले तथा गुणों से महान हैं. इंद्र स्तुतियों के समान हैं और उन का सर्वत्र गमन है. जिस प्रकार भूखे को अन्न प्रेरणा देता है, उसी प्रकार स्लुतियों की इच्छा करने वाले इंद्र की मैं स्तुतियां करता हू. मैं इंद्र के लिए पूर्व यजमानों के द्वारा दिए सोमरस आदि हवि प्रस्तुत करता हूं. EN English Translation
I pronounce the stotra that Indra receives very well. Indra is strong, quick for Sompan and great in qualities. Indra is like praises and he has a journey everywhere. Just as food inspires the hungry, I praise Indra, who desires. I present somersa etc. havi given by the former hosts for Indra. (1)
अ॒स्मा इदु॒ प्रय॑ इव॒ प्र यं॑सि॒ भरा॑म्याङ्गू॒षं बाधे॑ सुवृ॒क्ति । इन्द्रा॑य हृ॒दा मन॑सा मनी॒षा प्र॒त्नाय॒ पत्ये॒ धियो॑ मर्जयन्त ॥ (२)

मैं इंद्र के लिए अन्न के समान अपना स्तोत्र अर्पित करता हूं. मैं अपने शत्रुओं को बाधा पहुंचाने के लिए स्तोत्र रूपी घोष करता हूं. अन्य ऋत्विज् भी सब के स्वामी इंद्र के लिए अपने मन और बुद्धि के अनुसार अपनी स्तुतियों को प्रस्तुत करते हैं. (२)
EN English Translation
I offer my stotra like food to Indra. I chant as a stotra to obstruct my enemies. Other Ritvijas also present their praises according to their mind and intellect for Indra, the swami of all. (2)
अ॒स्मा इदु॒ त्यमु॑प॒मं स्व॒र्षां भरा॑म्याङ्गू॒षमा॒स्येन । मंहि॑ष्ठ॒मच्छो॑क्तिभिर्मती॒नां सु॑वृ॒क्तिभिः॑ सू॒रिं वा॑वृ॒धध्यै॑ ॥ (३)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
मैं उन प्रसिद्ध इंद्र को उपमा देने योग्य, धन का प्रदाता और स्वर्ग प्राप्त करने वाले स्तोत्र बोलता हूं. यह स्तोत्र अतिशय धनवान इंद्र की वृद्धि के लिए उच्चारण कर रहा है. मैं इंद्र के उपयोग के हेतु इस स्तोत्र का घोष कर रहा हूं. (३)
EN English Translation
I speak the hymn of simile, provider of wealth and heaven to those famous Indras. This hymn is pronounced for the growth of the very wealthy Indra. I am proclaiming this hymn for the use of Indra. (3)
अ॒स्मा इदु॒ स्तोमं॒ सं हि॑नोमि॒ रथं॒ न तष्टे॑व॒ तत्सि॑नाय । गिर॑श्च॒ गिर्वा॑हसे सुवृ॒क्तीन्द्रा॑य विश्वमि॒न्वं मेधि॑राय ॥ (४)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
रथकार जिस प्रकार स्वामी के लिए रथ का निर्माण करता है, उसी प्रकार मैं स्तुतियों द्वारा प्राप्त करने योग्य एवं मेधावी इंद्र के लिए सभी यजमानों द्वारा प्रस्तुत करने योग्य सोमरस आदि के रूप में हवि तथा स्तुतियां अर्पित करता हूं. ये स्तुतियां मैं अन्न प्राप्त के हेतु कर रहा हूं. (४)
EN English Translation
Just as the charioteer builds the chariot for the master, in the same way, I offer havi and praises to Indra, who is worthy of praise and is presented by all the hosts, in the form of somersa etc. I am doing these praises to get food. (4)
अ॒स्मा इदु॒ सप्ति॑मिव श्रव॒स्येन्द्रा॑या॒र्कं जु॒ह्वा॒ सम॑ञ्जे । वी॒रं दा॒नौक॑सं व॒न्दध्यै॑ पु॒रां गू॒र्तश्र॑वसं द॒र्माण॑म् ॥ (५)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
मैं अन्न प्राप्ति की इच्छा से इंद्र के लिए हवि रूप अन्न प्रस्तुत करता हूं जो घी से मिला हुआ है. जिस प्रकार रथ में घोड़े जोड़े जाते हैं, उसी प्रकार मैं हवि को घृत युक्त करता हूं. इंद्र शत्रुओं को पराजित करने वाले, दान करने वाले और असुरों के नगरों को ध्वस्त करने वाले हैं. (५)
EN English Translation
I present havi roop food for Indra with the desire to get food which is mixed with ghee. Just as horses are added to the chariot, I give havi with ghee. Indra is the destroyer of enemies, the donor and the destroyer of the cities of asuras. (5)
अ॒स्मा इदु॒ त्वष्टा॑ तक्ष॒द्वज्रं॒ स्वप॑स्तमं स्व॒र्यं रणा॑य । वृ॒त्रस्य॑ चिद्वि॒दद्येन॒ मर्म॑ तु॒जन्नीशा॑नस्तुज॒ता कि॑ये॒धाः ॥ (६)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
इन्हीं इद्र के लिए विश्वकर्मा ने वज्र नाम का आयुध बनाया था जो अतिशय शोभन तथा स्तुति के योग्य हैं. इस वज्र का निर्माण युद्ध के लिए तथा आक्रमण करने वाले शत्रुओं को रोकने के लिए किया गया है. सब के स्वामी इंद्र ने इस वज्र से वृत्र राक्षस के मर्म स्थान में प्रहार किया था. (६)
EN English Translation
For this Idra, Vishwakarma had made a weapon named Vajra, which is very worthy of shobhan and praise. This thunderbolt has been constructed for war and to stop the invading enemies. Swami Indra, the swami of all, struck in the inner place of vritra demon with this thunderbolt. (6)
अ॒स्येदु॑ मा॒तुः सव॑नेषु स॒द्यो म॒हः पि॒तुं प॑पि॒वां चार्वन्ना॑ । मु॑षा॒यद्विष्णुः॑ पच॒तं सही॑या॒न्विध्य॑द्वरा॒हं ति॒रो अद्रि॒मस्ता॑ ॥ (७)

सब के निर्माणकर्ता और महान इंद्र के असाधारण कर्म का वर्णन किया जा रहा है. इस इंद्र ने सोमयाग संबंधी यज्ञों में सोमरस का पान किया तथा पुरोडाश के अन्न का भक्षण किया है. तीनों सवनों अर्थात् प्रातः, मध्याह्न और सायंकाल के हवनों में व्याप्त तथा शत्रुओं का संहार करने वाले इंद्र ने शत्रुओं का धन छीन लिया है. पर्वतों पर वज्र का प्रयोग करने वाले इंद्र ने वर्षा को रोकने वाले मेघ को विदीर्ण किया था. EN English Translation
The extraordinary karma of indra, the creator of all and the great, is being described. This Indra has drank Someras in somayag related yagyas and has consumed the food of Purodash. Indra, who was involved in the havanas of the three savanas i.e. morning, midday and evening and killed the enemies, has taken away the wealth of the enemies. Indra, who used thunderbolts on the mountains, had scattered the cloud that prevented the rain. (7)
अ॒स्मा इदु॒ ग्नाश्चि॑द्दे॒वप॑त्नी॒रिन्द्रा॑या॒र्कम॑हि॒हत्य॑ ऊवुः । परि॒ द्यावा॑पृथि॒वी ज॑भ्र उ॒र्वी नास्य॒ ते म॑हि॒मानं॒ परि॑ ष्टः ॥ (८)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
इस इंद्र के लिए इंद्राणी आदि देव पत्नियों ने स्तोत्र का उच्चारण किया. इस इंद्र ने विस्तृत स्वर्ग और पृथ्वी को अपने तेज से अतिक्रमण किया था. धावा और पृथ्वी इद्र के महत्व को पराजित नहीं कर पाए. (८)
EN English Translation
For this Indra, Indrani etc. dev wives chanted the stotra. This Indra had transgressed the wide heaven and earth with his glory. The storm and the earth could not defeat the importance of Idra. (8)
अ॒स्येदे॒व प्र रि॑रिचे महि॒त्वं दि॒वस्पृ॑थि॒व्याः पर्य॒न्तरि॑क्षात् । स्व॒राडिन्द्रो॒ दम॒ आ वि॒श्वगू॑र्तः स्व॒रिरम॑त्रो ववक्षे॒ रणा॑य ॥ (९)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
इस इंद्र का महत्व द्युलोक और पृथ्वी से भी बढ़ कर है. ये इंद्र शत्रुओं पर अपने ही तेज से सुशोभित होते हैं. इस प्रकार के इंद्र संग्राम के लिए जाते हैं अथवा वर्षा करने के लिए मेघों के समीप पहुंचते हैं. (९)
EN English Translation
The importance of this Indra is more than the world and the earth. These Indras adorn the enemies with their own glory. This type of Indra goes for war or approaches the clouds to rain. (9)
अ॒स्येदे॒व शव॑सा शु॒षन्तं॒ वि वृ॑श्च॒द्वज्रे॑ण वृ॒त्रमिन्द्रः॑ । गा न व्रा॒णा अ॒वनी॑रमुञ्चद॒भि श्रवो॑ दा॒वने॒ सचे॑ताः ॥ (१०)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
इन्हीं इंद्र देव के बल से जो वृत्र राक्षस भयभीत हो रहा था इंद्र ने अपने वज्र से उस का शीश काट दिया एवं पाणियों द्वारा चुरा कर रखी गई गायों को मुक्त किया. इंद्र ने मेघ का भेदन कर के सभी प्राणियों की रक्षा के कारण जलों को मुक्त किया. इंद्र हवि देने वाले यजमान के समान अपना मन बना कर प्रसिद्ध अन्न प्राप्त कराएं. (१०)
EN English Translation
With the power of these Indra Dev, the vritra rakshasa who was getting frightened, Indra cut off his glass with his thunderbolt and freed the cows stolen by the waters. Indra penetrated the cloud and freed the waters to protect all beings. Make up your mind like the host who gives Indra Havi and get the famous food. (10)
अ॒स्येदु॑ त्वे॒षसा॑ रन्त॒ सिन्ध॑वः॒ परि॒ यद्वज्रे॑ण सी॒मय॑च्छत् । ई॑शान॒कृद्दा॒शुषे॑ दश॒स्यन्तु॒र्वीत॑ये गा॒धं तु॒र्वणिः॒ कः ॥ (११)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
इन्हीं इंद्र के दीप्त बल के कारण बहने वाली नदियां अपनेअपने स्थान पर सुशोभित होती हैं, क्योंकि इंद्र ने अपने वज्र से उन्हें नियंत्रित किया है. इंद्र शत्रुओं का वध कर के स्वयं को स्वामी बनाते हुए हवि देने वाले यजमान के लिए अन्न प्रदान करते हैं. (११)
EN English Translation
Due to the luminous force of Indra, the rivers flowing are adorned in their own place, because Indra has controlled them with his thunderbolt. Indra kills enemies and makes himself a master and provides food for the host who gives havi. (11)
अ॒स्मा इदु॒ प्र भ॑रा॒ तूतु॑जानो वृ॒त्राय॒ वज्र॒मीशा॑नः किये॒धाः । गोर्न पर्व॒ वि र॑दा तिर॒श्चेष्य॒न्नर्णां॑स्य॒पां च॒रध्यै॑ ॥ (१२)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
वृत्र राक्षस के वध के लिए अत्यधिक शीघ्रता करते हुए सब के स्वामी इंद्र शत्रु की सेना कितनी है, ऐसा कह कर उस का बल हरण करने वाले तुम वज्र का प्रहार करो. जिस प्रकार पशुओं के मांस के टुकड़े किए जाते हैं, उसी प्रकार तुम शत्रुओं पर प्रहार करो. हे इंद्र! तुम जल की इच्छा करते हुए भूमि पर जल के प्रवाह के लिए वृत्र के शरीर को अपने वज्र से नष्ट कर दो. (१२)
EN English Translation
By saying that the army of the enemy, the swami of all, Indra, while hurrying to kill the vritra demon, attack the thunderbolt who takes away its strength. Just as animal flesh is cut into pieces, so attack your enemies. O Indra! You, while desiring water, destroy the body of the tree with your thunderbolt for the flow of water on the ground. (12)
अ॒स्येदु॒ प्र ब्रू॑हि पू॒र्व्याणि॑ तु॒रस्य॒ कर्मा॑णि॒ नव्य॑ उ॒क्थैः । यु॒धे यदि॑ष्णा॒न आयु॑धान्यृघा॒यमा॑णो निरि॒णाति॒ शत्रू॑न् ॥ (१३)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
अपनी स्तुतियों में इंद्र की प्रशंसा करो. हे स्तोता! स्तुतियों के योग्य इंद्र की स्तुतियों से प्रशंसा करो. जब इंद्र युद्ध के लिए अपने आयुधों को चलाते हुए तथा शत्रुओं की हिंसा करते हुए उन की ओर जाते हैं, हे स्तोता! उस समय स्तुतियों का उच्चारण करो. (१३)
EN English Translation
Praise Indra in your praises. This hymn! Praise Indra with praises worthy of praises. When Indra goes towards the enemies, wielding his weapons for war and committing violence on the enemies, O Stota! Utter eulogies at that time. (13)
अ॒स्येदु॑ भि॒या गि॒रय॑श्च दृ॒ढा द्यावा॑ च॒ भूमा॑ ज॒नुष॑स्तुजेते । उपो॑ वे॒नस्य॒ जोगु॑वान ओ॒णिं स॒द्यो भु॑वद्वी॒र्याय नो॒धाः ॥ (१४)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
इन इंद्र के जन्म से ही पंख कटने के भय से पर्वत भी दृढ़ हो गए थे. इंद्र के भय से धरती और स्वर्ग भी कांपते हैं. इन इंद्र की अनेक स्तोत्रों से प्रशंसा कर के नोधा नाम के ऋषि सामर्थ्य वाले हुए. (१४)
EN English Translation
Since the birth of Indra, the mountains had also become strong due to the fear of cutting their wings. Earth and heaven also tremble with fear of Indra. After praising Indra with many hymns, the sage named Nodha became powerful. (14)
अ॒स्मा इदु॒ त्यदनु॑ दाय्येषा॒मेको॒ यद्व॒व्ने भूरे॒रीशा॑नः । प्रैत॑शं॒ सूर्ये॑ पस्पृधा॒नं सौव॑श्व्ये॒ सुष्वि॑माव॒दिन्द्रः॑ ॥ (१५)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
इन्हीं इंद्र के लिए स्तुतियों और सोम लक्षण अन्न प्रदान किया जाता है. इस कारण अधिक धन के स्वामी इंद्र स्तोत्र आदि के विषय में अद्वितीय हुए. इंद्र ने सौवश्य की रक्षा के अवसर पर सूर्य से अधिक तेजस्वी एतश नाम वाले ऋषि की भी रक्षा की थी. (१५)
EN English Translation
Praises and Soma symptoms are provided for these Indra. For this reason, Indra, the swami of more wealth, became unique in terms of stotra etc. Indra also protected the sage named Etash, who was more radiant than the Sun, on the occasion of protecting Sauvasa. (15)
ए॒वा ते॑ हारियोजना सुवृ॒क्तीन्द्र॒ ब्रह्मा॑णि॒ गोत॑मासो अक्रन् । ऐषु॑ वि॒श्वपे॑शसं॒ धियं॑ धाः प्रा॒तर्म॒क्षू धि॒याव॑सुर्जगम्यात् ॥ (१६)

हे इंद्र! गौतम गोत्र वाले अनेक ऋषि तुम्हारे लिए मंत्र रूपी स्तोत्रों का उच्चारण कर रहे हैं. इन स्तुतिकर्ताओं को अनेक प्रकार का धन और अन्न प्रदान करो. जिस प्रकार इंद्र देव इस समय हमारी रक्षा के लिए आए हैं, उसी प्रकार वे अन्य दिनों में हमारे यज्ञ में आएं. (१६)
EN English Translation
O Indra! Many sages with Gautam gotra are chanting mantra-like stotras for you. Provide many types of money and food to these praisors. Just as Indra Dev has come to protect us at this time, so he should come to our yagna on other days. (16)
