र॒क्षो॒हणं॑ वा॒जिन॒मा जि॑घर्मि मि॒त्रं प्रथि॑ष्ठ॒मुप॑ यामि॒ शर्म॑ । शिशा॑नो अ॒ग्निः क्रतु॑भिः॒ समि॑द्धः॒ स नो॒ दिवा॒ स रि॒षः पा॑तु॒ नक्त॑म् ॥ (१)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
मैं राक्षसों के हंता शक्तिशाली यजमानों के मित्र और अधिक स्थूल अग्नि का घृत से हवन करता हूं एवं अग्नि के घर के पास जाता हूं. ज्वालाओं को तेज करने वाले अग्नि यजमानों द्वारा प्रज्वलित होते हैं. वे हमें हिंसक राक्षसों से रात-दिन बचावें. (१)
EN English Translation
I pray to the house of agni and the more gross agni, the friend of the mighty hosts of the demons and go to the house of agni. Flames that intensify are ignited by hosts. They protect us day and night from violent monsters. (1)
अयो॑दंष्ट्रो अ॒र्चिषा॑ यातु॒धाना॒नुप॑ स्पृश जातवेदः॒ समि॑द्धः । आ जि॒ह्वया॒ मूर॑देवान्रभस्व क्र॒व्यादो॑ वृ॒क्त्व्यपि॑ धत्स्वा॒सन् ॥ (२)

हे जातवेद! तुम प्रज्वलित होकर एवं लोहे के समान तेज दांतों वाले बनकर अपनी ज्वालाओं से राक्षसो को जलाओ. तुम अपनी जीभ के समान ज्वालाओं से हिंसक राक्षसो को मारो एवं मांसभक्षी राक्षसों को काटकर अपने मुंह में रख लो (२)
EN English Translation
O Jathaveda! You burn the demons with your flames by igniting and having sharp teeth like iron. You kill violent monsters with flames like your tongue and cut off the carnivorous monsters and put them in your mouth (2)
उभोभयाविन्नुप धेहि दंष्ट्रा हिं्रः शिशानोऽवरं परं च. उतान्तरिक्षे परि याहि राजञ्जम्भैः सं धेह्यभि यातुधानान्. (3)

हे दोनों जबड़ों में दांतों वाले एवं राक्षसहिंसक अग्नि! तुम अपनी दोनों ओर की दाढ़ें तेज करते हुए वधयोग्य राक्षसों पर जमा दो. हे दीप्त अग्नि! तुम आकाश में स्थित राक्षसों के समीप जाओ एवं अपने दांतों से भक्षण करो. (३)
EN English Translation
O toothed and demon-resistant agni in both jaws! You muster the molars on both sides of you while depositing on the slaughterable monsters. O bright agni! Go near the demons in the sky and eat with your teeth. (3)
य॒ज्ञैरिषूः॑ सं॒नम॑मानो अग्ने वा॒चा श॒ल्याँ अ॒शनि॑भिर्दिहा॒नः । ताभि॑र्विध्य॒ हृद॑ये यातु॒धाना॑न्प्रती॒चो बा॒हून्प्रति॑ भङ्ध्येषाम् ॥ (४)

हे अग्नि! तुम हमारे यज्ञों और स्तुतियों के द्वारा बाणों को झुकाते हुए एवं उनके फलों को वञ्रों के द्वारा तेज करते हुए उन बाणं से राक्षसों के हृदयों को बेधो तथा उनकी भुजाओं को तोड़ दो. (४)
EN English Translation
O agni! You pierce the hearts of the demons with those arrows and break their arms with those arrows, bowing down arrows through our sacrifices and praises and sharpening their fruits with vanas. (4)
अग्ने॒ त्वचं॑ यातु॒धान॑स्य भिन्धि हिं॒स्राशनि॒र्हर॑सा हन्त्वेनम् । प्र पर्वा॑णि जातवेदः शृणीहि क्र॒व्यात्क्र॑वि॒ष्णुर्वि चि॑नोतु वृ॒क्णम् ॥ (५)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे जातवेद अग्नि! राक्षसों की खाल को काट डालो. हिंसक वज्र उन्हें ताप से मारे. तुम राक्षसों के शरीर के भाग अलग-अलग कर दो. मांस की इच्छा करने वाले मांसाहारी जंतु इनके छिन्न-भिन्न शरीरों को खावें. (५)
EN English Translation
O Jativeda Agni! Cut off the skins of monsters. The violent thunderbolt hit them with heat. You vary the body parts of the monsters. Meat-seeking carnivorous animals should eat their distinct bodies. (5)
यत्रे॒दानीं॒ पश्य॑सि जातवेद॒स्तिष्ठ॑न्तमग्न उ॒त वा॒ चर॑न्तम् । यद्वा॒न्तरि॑क्षे प॒थिभिः॒ पत॑न्तं॒ तमस्ता॑ विध्य॒ शर्वा॒ शिशा॑नः ॥ (६)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे जातवेद अग्नि! तुम राक्षस को खड़ा हुआ, घूमता हुआ, आकाश में स्थित, मार्ग में चलता हुआ-किसी भी अवस्था में देखो तो बाण फेंककर उसे बेध दो. (६)
EN English Translation
O all-knowing Agni! You stand up to the monster, moving around, in the sky, walking along the way- if you look at it in any case, throw an arrow and pierce it. (6)
उ॒ताल॑ब्धं स्पृणुहि जातवेद आलेभा॒नादृ॒ष्टिभि॑र्यातु॒धाना॑त् । अग्ने॒ पूर्वो॒ नि ज॑हि॒ शोशु॑चान आ॒मादः॒ क्ष्विङ्का॒स्तम॑द॒न्त्वेनीः॑ ॥ (७)

हे जातवेद अग्नि! तुम मुझ स्तोता को आक्रमणकारी राक्षस के हाथ से अपनी ऋष्टियों द्वारा बचाओ. तुम प्रमुख एवं प्रज्वलित होकर राक्षस को मारो. ये पक्षी उस राक्षस को खावें. (७)
EN English Translation
O Jativeda Agni! You save me by your secrets from the hand of the invading monster to the stota. You kill the monster by being prominent and ignited. Let these birds eat that monster. (7)
इ॒ह प्र ब्रू॑हि यत॒मः सो अ॑ग्ने॒ यो या॑तु॒धानो॒ य इ॒दं कृ॒णोति॑ । तमा र॑भस्व स॒मिधा॑ यविष्ठ नृ॒चक्ष॑स॒श्चक्षु॑षे रन्धयैनम् ॥ (८)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे अग्नि! उस राक्षस को भगाओ जो यज्ञ में विघ्न डालता है. हे अतिशय युवा अग्नि! तुम समिधाओं द्वारा प्रज्वलित होकर राक्षस को मारो. हे मानवों को देखने वाले अग्नि! तुम राक्षस को अपने तेज के वश में करो. (८)
EN English Translation
O agni! Drive away the demon who disrupts the yagna. O very young agni! You are ignited by the samididhas and kill the monster. O agni that sees humans! You subdue the monster of your swiftness. (8)
ती॒क्ष्णेना॑ग्ने॒ चक्षु॑षा रक्ष य॒ज्ञं प्राञ्चं॒ वसु॑भ्यः॒ प्र ण॑य प्रचेतः । हिं॒स्रं रक्षां॑स्य॒भि शोशु॑चानं॒ मा त्वा॑ दभन्यातु॒धाना॑ नृचक्षः ॥ (९)

हे अग्नि! तुम अपने तीखे तेज से हमारे यज्ञ की रक्षा करो. हे उत्तम ज्ञान वाले अग्नि! इस यज्ञ को धन के अनुकूल बनाओ. हे प्रदीप्त एवं मानवदर्शक अग्नि! तुम राक्षसों को मारो. वे तुम्हें न मार सकें. (९)
EN English Translation
O agni! You protect our yajna with your sharp sharpness. O agni of the best knowledge! Make this yajna friendly to money. O glorious and human-seeing agni! You kill the monsters. They can't kill you. (9)
नृ॒चक्षा॒ रक्षः॒ परि॑ पश्य वि॒क्षु तस्य॒ त्रीणि॒ प्रति॑ शृणी॒ह्यग्रा॑ । तस्या॑ग्ने पृ॒ष्टीर्हर॑सा शृणीहि त्रे॒धा मूलं॑ यातु॒धान॑स्य वृश्च ॥ (१०)

हे मानवदर्शक अग्नि! तुम मानवहिंसक राक्षस को देखो तथा उसके तीन मस्तकों को काट डालो. (१०)
EN English Translation
O human agni! You look at the human violent monster and cut off its three heads. (10)
त्रिर्या॑तु॒धानः॒ प्रसि॑तिं त एत्वृ॒तं यो अ॑ग्ने॒ अनृ॑तेन॒ हन्ति॑ । तम॒र्चिषा॑ स्फू॒र्जय॑ञ्जातवेदः सम॒क्षमे॑नं गृण॒ते नि वृ॑ङ्धि ॥ (११)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे अग्नि! राक्षस तीन बार तुम्हारी लपटों में जावे. जो राक्षस असत्य से सत्य को मारता है, उसे तुम अपने तेज से भस्म कर दो. हे जातवेद अग्नि! इस राक्षस को मेरे सामने ही टुकड़े-टुकड़े कर दो. (११)
EN English Translation
O agni! Let the monster go into your flames three times. The monster who kills the truth with untruth, consume him with your own glory. O Jativeda Agni! Cut this monster to pieces in front of me. (11)
तद॑ग्ने॒ चक्षुः॒ प्रति॑ धेहि रे॒भे श॑फा॒रुजं॒ येन॒ पश्य॑सि यातु॒धान॑म् । अ॒थ॒र्व॒वज्ज्योति॑षा॒ दैव्ये॑न स॒त्यं धूर्व॑न्तम॒चितं॒ न्यो॑ष ॥ (१२)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे अग्नि! गर्जन करते हुए इस राक्षस पर वह दृष्टि डालो जो तुम खुरों के समान नाखूनों द्वारा सज्जनों को भग्न करने वाले राक्षस पर डालते हो. दध्यङ् अथर्वा ऋषि जिस प्रकार अपने तेज से राक्षसों को मारते हैं, उसी प्रकार तुम अपने तेज से असत्य द्वारा सत्य का हनन करने वाले राक्षस को मारो. (१२)
EN English Translation
O agni! While roaring, cast the eye on this monster that you put on the monster that breaks the gentlemen with nails like hooves. Just as the sages kill demons with their own speed, so you kill the demon who violates the truth through untruth with your swiftness. (12)
यद॑ग्ने अ॒द्य मि॑थु॒ना शपा॑तो॒ यद्वा॒चस्तृ॒ष्टं ज॒नय॑न्त रे॒भाः । म॒न्योर्मन॑सः शर॒व्या॒३॒॑ जाय॑ते॒ या तया॑ विध्य॒ हृद॑ये यातु॒धाना॑न् ॥ (१३)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे अग्नि! आज स्त्रीपुरुष आपस में लड़ रहे हैं और स्तोता कड़वी बातें कह रहे हैं. इस कारण मन में क्रोध होने पर जो बाण फेंका जाता है, उसी बाण से तुम राक्षसों का हृदय बेध दो. (१३)
EN English Translation
O agni! Today, women are fighting among themselves and the stotas are saying bitter things. Because of this, the arrow that is thrown when there is anger in the mind, with the same arrow, you pierce the hearts of the demons. (13)
परा॑ शृणीहि॒ तप॑सा यातु॒धाना॒न्परा॑ग्ने॒ रक्षो॒ हर॑सा शृणीहि । परा॒र्चिषा॒ मूर॑देवाञ्छृणीहि॒ परा॑सु॒तृपो॑ अ॒भि शोशु॑चानः ॥ (१४)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे अग्नि! तुम अपनी गरमी से राक्षसों को जलाओ तथा अपने तेज से राक्षसों को समाप्त करो. मूढ़ राक्षसों को तुम अपने परम तेज से नष्ट करो. जो राक्षस दूसरों के प्राण हरण करके तृप्त होते हैं, उन्हें तुम शोकमग्न करो. (१४)
EN English Translation
O agni! You burn the demons with your warmth and eliminate the demons with your fast. Let the foolish monsters destroy you with your ultimate swiftness. Those demons who are satisfied by taking the lives of others, grieve them. (14)
परा॒द्य दे॒वा वृ॑जि॒नं शृ॑णन्तु प्र॒त्यगे॑नं श॒पथा॑ यन्तु तृ॒ष्टाः । वा॒चास्ते॑नं॒ शर॑व ऋच्छन्तु॒ मर्म॒न्विश्व॑स्यैतु॒ प्रसि॑तिं यातु॒धानः॑ ॥ (१५)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
आज महान् देव पापी राक्षस को समाप्त करें. हमारी बुरी उक्तियां इस राक्षस को लगें. हमारे बाण इस असत्यवादी राक्षस को लगें. राक्षस व्याप्त अग्ने के जाल में फंसे. (१५)

End the great god sinner monster today. Let our bad quotes seem to this monster. Let our arrows look to this untrustworthy monster. Trapped in the trap of the monster pervading agne. (15)
यः पौरु॑षेयेण क्र॒विषा॑ सम॒ङ्क्ते यो अश्व्ये॑न प॒शुना॑ यातु॒धानः॑ । यो अ॒घ्न्याया॒ भर॑ति क्षी॒रम॑ग्ने॒ तेषां॑ शी॒र्षाणि॒ हर॒सापि॑ वृश्च ॥ (१६)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे अग्नि! जो राक्षस पुरुष का मांस अपने पास लाता है. जो अश्व आदि उपयोगी पशुओं का मांस एकत्र करता है अथवा जो गाय का दूध चुराता है, उसके सिर को काट दो. (१६)
EN English Translation
O agni! The monster who brings the flesh of the male to himself. Cut off the head of the one who collects the meat of useful animals like horse etc. or who steals cow's milk. (16)
सं॒व॒त्स॒रीणं॒ पय॑ उ॒स्रिया॑या॒स्तस्य॒ माशी॑द्यातु॒धानो॑ नृचक्षः । पी॒यूष॑मग्ने यत॒मस्तितृ॑प्सा॒त्तं प्र॒त्यञ्च॑म॒र्चिषा॑ विध्य॒ मर्म॑न् ॥ (१७)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे मानवदर्शक अग्नि! गाय के एक वर्ष तक के दूध को राक्षस न पी सकें. जो राक्षस इस अमृतलुल्य गोदुग्ध को पीने के लिए आगे आवे, उसके मर्म को तुम अपनी ज्वालाओं द्वार छिन्न-भिन्न कर डालो. (१७)
EN English Translation
O human agni! Monsters can't drink cow's milk for up to a year. The demon who comes forward to drink this nectar-like god, your soul is shattered through your flames. (17)
वि॒षं गवां॑ यातु॒धानाः॑ पिब॒न्त्वा वृ॑श्च्यन्ता॒मदि॑तये दु॒रेवाः॑ । परै॑नान्दे॒वः स॑वि॒ता द॑दातु॒ परा॑ भा॒गमोष॑धीनां जयन्ताम् ॥ (१८)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे अग्नि! राक्षसों द्वारा दिया हुआ गोदुग्ध विष हो जाए एवं राक्षस काटकर अग्नि को भेंट किए जावें. सूर्य इन राक्षसों को हिंसकों को सौंप दें. राक्षस ओषधियों का असार अंश प्राप्त करें. (१८)
EN English Translation
O agni! The godly poison given by the demons becomes poison and the monsters should be cut off and offered to the agni. Let the sun hand these monsters over to the violent. Get the assortment of monsters. (18)
स॒नाद॑ग्ने मृणसि यातु॒धाना॒न्न त्वा॒ रक्षां॑सि॒ पृत॑नासु जिग्युः । अनु॑ दह स॒हमू॑रान्क्र॒व्यादो॒ मा ते॑ हे॒त्या मु॑क्षत॒ दैव्या॑याः ॥ (१९)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे अग्नि! तुम बहुत समय से राक्षसों को बाधा पहुंचा रहे हो. राक्षस तुम्हें युद्ध में नहीं जीत पाए. तुम मांसभक्षक राक्षसों को समूल नष्ट करो. वे तुम्हारे दिव्य आयुधों से बच न सकें. (१९)
EN English Translation
O agni! You've been interrupting monsters for a long time. The monsters didn't win you over in the war. You destroy the meat-eating monsters altogether. They cannot escape your divine weapons. (19)
त्वं नो॑ अग्ने अध॒रादुद॑क्ता॒त्त्वं प॒श्चादु॒त र॑क्षा पु॒रस्ता॑त् । प्रति॒ ते ते॑ अ॒जरा॑स॒स्तपि॑ष्ठा अ॒घशं॑सं॒ शोशु॑चतो दहन्तु ॥ (२०)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे अग्नि! तुम हमें दक्षिण, उत्तर, पश्चिम एवं पूर्व दिशाओं से बचाओ. तुम्हारी अतिशय तप्त, जरारहित एवं ज्वलित किरणों पापी राक्षसों को भस्म कर दें. (२०)
EN English Translation
O agni! You save us from south, north, west and east directions. Let your overheated, unburnt and burning rays devour the sinful demons. (20)
प॒श्चात्पु॒रस्ता॑दध॒रादुद॑क्तात्क॒विः काव्ये॑न॒ परि॑ पाहि राजन् । सखे॒ सखा॑यम॒जरो॑ जरि॒म्णेऽग्ने॒ मर्ता॒ँ अम॑र्त्य॒स्त्वं नः॑ ॥ (२१)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे दीप्त एवं कार्यकुशल अग्नि! तुम अपने कौशल द्वारा हमें पश्चिम, पूर्व, दक्षिण एवं उत्तर दिशाओं से बचाओ. हे जरामरणरहित एवं सखा अग्नि! मैं तुम्हारा मित्र हूं. तुम मुझे जरा एवं मृत्यु को प्रदान न करो. (२१)
EN English Translation
O bright and efficient agni! You save us from the west, east, south and north directions by your skills. O unseasonal and clean agni! I'm your friend. You don't give me a little more death. (21)
परि॑ त्वाग्ने॒ पुरं॑ व॒यं विप्रं॑ सहस्य धीमहि । धृ॒षद्व॑र्णं दि॒वेदि॑वे ह॒न्तारं॑ भङ्गु॒राव॑ताम् ॥ (२२)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे बल के पुत्र अग्नि! तुम पूरक मेधावी धर्षक एवं कुटिल राक्षसों का प्रतिदिन नाश करने वाले हो. हम तुम्हारा ध्यान करते हैं. (२२)

O son of strength, agni! You are the one who destroys the complementary brilliant and devious demons every day. We do your attention. (22)
वि॒षेण॑ भङ्गु॒राव॑तः॒ प्रति॑ ष्म र॒क्षसो॑ दह । अग्ने॑ ति॒ग्मेन॑ शो॒चिषा॒ तपु॑रग्राभिरृ॒ष्टिभिः॑ ॥ (२३)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे अग्नि! तुम तोड़फोड़ करने वाले राक्षसों को अपने व्याप्त एवं तीखे तेज से जलाओ. उन्हें ऐसे खड्गों से मारो, जिनका अगला भाग गरम है. (२३)
EN English Translation
O agni! You burn the sabotage monsters with your pervading and sharp swiftness. Beat them with pits whose front part is warm. (23)
प्रत्य॑ग्ने मिथु॒ना द॑ह यातु॒धाना॑ किमी॒दिना॑ । सं त्वा॑ शिशामि जागृ॒ह्यद॑ब्धं विप्र॒ मन्म॑भिः ॥ (२४)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे अग्नि! जो राक्षस पतिपत्नी के रूप में यह देखते हुए घूमते हैं कि कहां क्या हो रहा है. उन्हें तुम जलाओ. हे अपराजेय एवं ज्ञानी अग्नि! मैं सुंदर स्तुतियों से तुम्हारी प्रशंसा करता हूं. तुम जागो. (२४)
EN English Translation
O agni! Who roam around as monster spouses seeing where what is going on. You burn them. O unbeatable and wise agni! I admire you with beautiful praises. You wake up. (24)
प्रत्य॑ग्ने॒ हर॑सा॒ हरः॑ शृणी॒हि वि॒श्वतः॒ प्रति॑ । या॒तु॒धान॑स्य र॒क्षसो॒ बलं॒ वि रु॑ज वी॒र्य॑म् ॥ (२५)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे अग्नि! तुम अपने तेज से राक्षसों का तेज चारों ओर नष्ट कर दो. लुम राक्षसों के बल और तेज को नष्ट करो. (२५)
EN English Translation
O agni! You destroy the sharpness of the monsters around by your fast. Destroy the force and brightness of the lum monsters. (25)
