यन्म॒न्युर्जा॒यामाव॑हत्संक॒ल्पस्य॑ गृ॒हादधि॑ । क आ॑सं॒ जन्याः॒ के व॒राः क उ॑ ज्येष्ठव॒रोभ॑वत् ॥ (१)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
ब्रह्म माया के अभिमुख उसी प्रकार प्राप्त हुआ, जिस प्रकार पति पत्नी के सामने जाता है. ब्रह्म ने माया को उसी प्रकार प्राप्त किया, जिस प्रकार पति अपनी पत्नी को घर से प्राप्त करता है. ब्रह्मा की सृष्टि रचना की इच्छा में वधू पक्ष के बंधन कौन थे? कन्या का वरण करने वाले कौन थे? उस समय प्रधान वर अर्थात् विवाह करने वाला कौन था? (१)
EN English Translation
Brahman attained the face of Maya in the same way as the husband goes in front of the wife. Brahma received Maya in the same way as a husband receives his wife from home. Who were the bonds of the bride's side in Brahma's desire to create creation? Who were the ones who chose the girl? Who was the chief groom at that time? (1)
तप॑श्चै॒वास्तां॒ कर्म॑ चा॒न्तर्म॑ह॒त्यर्ण॒वे । त आ॑सं॒ जन्या॑स्ते व॒रा ब्रह्म॑ ज्येष्ठव॒रोभ॑वत् ॥ (२)

उस सृष्टि रचना के समय सृष्टि की रचना करने वाले परमेश्वर का तप और कर्म ही उस समय स्थित थे. यह तप और कर्म प्रलय काल के सागर का मंत्र था. विवाह के मुहूर्त पर जो कन्या पक्ष वाले बंधन थे, वे ही विवाह करने वाले थे. ब्रह्म उन में सब से बड़ा वर था. (२)
EN English Translation
At the time of that creation, the tenacity and deeds of God, who created the creation, were located at that time. This penance and karma was the mantra of the ocean of the holocaust period. On the muhurat of marriage, only those who were tied with the girl side were going to get married. Brahma was the greatest groom among them. (2)
दश॑ सा॒कम॑जायन्त दे॒वा दे॒वेभ्यः॑ पु॒रा । यो वै तान्वि॒द्यात्प्र॒त्यक्षं॒ स वा अ॒द्य म॒हद्व॑देत् ॥ (३)

अग्नि आदि देवों की उत्पत्ति से पहले ही ज्ञानेंद्रियां और कमेंद्रियां उत्पन्न हुई. जो उपासक उन देवों को जान सकेगा, वह प्रत्यक्ष ही ब्रह्म का उपदेश करेगा. (३)
EN English Translation
Even before the origin of agni etc. gods, senses and senses were born. The worshiper who can know those gods will preach Brahman directly. (3)
प्रा॑णापा॒नौ चक्षुः॒ श्रोत्र॒मक्षि॑तिश्च॒ क्षिति॑श्च॒ या । व्या॑नोदा॒नौ वाङ्मन॒स्ते वा आकू॑ति॒माव॑हन् ॥ (४)

प्राण और अपान वायु, नयन, कान, क्षीण होने वाली क्रिया शक्ति, क्षय रहित ब्रह्म, व्यान और उदान वायुएं, वाणी और मन ने देवकृत संकल्प को धारण किया. (४)

Prana and Apana Vayu, Nayan, Kan, Emanking Kriya Shakti, Decay-free Brahman, Vyan and Udan Vayus, Speech and Mind possessed devkrit sankalpa. (4)
अजा॑ता आसन्नृ॒तवोऽथो॑ धा॒ता बृह॒स्पतिः॑ । इ॑न्द्रा॒ग्नी अ॒श्विना॒ तर्हि॒ कं ते ज्ये॒ष्ठमुपा॑सत ॥ (५)

सृष्टि रचना के समय वसंत आदि ऋतुएं उत्पन्न नहीं हुई थीं. धाता, बृहस्पति, इंद्र, अग्नि तथा दो अश्विनीकुमार भी उस समय उत्पन्न नहीं हुए थे. धाता आदि वे देव अपने जन्मदाता ब्रह्म की उपासना कर रहे थे. (५)
EN English Translation
Spring and other seasons did not arise at the time of creation. Dhata, Jupiter, Indra, Agni and two Ashwinikumaras were also not born at that time. Those gods were worshiping their father Brahma. (5)
तप॑श्चै॒वास्तां॒ कर्म॑ चा॒न्तर्म॑ह॒त्यर्ण॒वे । तपो॑ ह जज्ञे॒ कर्म॑ण॒स्तत्ते ज्ये॒ष्ठमुपा॑सत ॥ (६)

प्रलय काल के महासागर में तप और कर्म ही थे. तप कर्म से उत्पन्न हुआ था. वे धाता आदि सृष्टि के कारण बने हुए ब्रह्म की उपासना कर रहे थे. (६)

There was penance and karma in the ocean of the holocaust period. Tapa was born out of karma. They were worshiping Brahman, who was created due to dhata etc. creation. (6)
येत आसी॒द्भूमिः॒ पूर्वा॒ याम॑द्धा॒तय॒ इद्वि॒दुः । यो वै तां॑ वि॒द्यान्ना॒मथा॒ स म॑न्येत पुराण॒वित् ॥ (७)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
सामने वर्तमान इस भूमि से पहले जो भूमि थी. उसे तप के प्रभाव से शक्ति प्राप्त करने वाले ऋषि जानते थे. जो अतीत काल के कल्प में स्थित उस भूमि को जो जानेगा, वह प्राचीन अर्थ को जानने वाला माना जाएगा. (७)
EN English Translation
The land which was before this land in front of the present. Sages who got power from the influence of penance knew him. Whoever knows that land located in the kalpa of the past will be considered to know the ancient meaning. (7)
कुत॒ इन्द्रः॒ कुतः॒ सोमः॒ कुतो॑ अ॒ग्निर॑जायत । कुत॒स्त्वष्टा॒ सम॑भव॒त्कुतो॑ धा॒ताजा॑यत ॥ (८)

कहां से इंद्र, कहां से सोम और कहां से अग्नि उत्पन्न हुई? त्वष्टा कहां से उत्पन्न हुआ तथा धाता की उत्पत्ति कहां से हुई? (८)
EN English Translation
From where did Indra, where did Soma and from where did agni originate? Where did tvashta originate and where did dhata originate? (8)
इन्द्रा॒दिन्द्रः॒ सोमा॒त्सोमो॑ अ॒ग्नेर॒ग्निर॑जायत । त्वष्टा॑ ह जज्ञे॒ त्वष्टु॑र्धा॒तुर्धा॒ताजा॑यत ॥ (९)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
पूर्व काल में जो इंद्र थे, उन से इन वर्तमान काल के इंद्र की उत्पत्ति हुई. इसी सोम से सोम, अग्नि से अग्नि, त्वष्टा से त्वष्टा और धाता से धाता उत्पन्न हुए. (९)
EN English Translation
Indra of this present period originated from the Indra who was in the former period. From this Soma, Soma, Agni from Agni, Tvashta from Tvashta and Dhata from Dhata were born. (9)
ये त आस॒न्दश॑ जा॒ता दे॒वा दे॒वेभ्यः॑ पु॒रा । पु॒त्रेभ्यो॑ लो॒कं द॒त्त्वा कस्मिं॒स्ते लो॒क आ॑सते ॥ (१०)

प्राचीन काल में देवों से जो दस देव उत्पन्न हुए, वे अपने पुत्रों को यह लोक दे कर भी स्वयं किस लोक में निवास करते हैं? (१०)
EN English Translation
In ancient times, the ten gods who were born to the gods, they themselves reside in which world even after giving this world to their sons? (10)
य॒दा केशा॒नस्थि॒ स्नाव॑ मां॒सं म॒ज्जान॒माभ॑रत् । शरी॑रं कृ॒त्वा पाद॑व॒त्कं लो॒कमनु॒ प्रावि॑शत् ॥ (११)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
जिस सृष्टि रचना के समय रचना करने वाले ने केशों को, अस्थियों को, स्नायुओं अर्थात् नसों को, मांस को और मज्जा अर्थात् चरबी को एकत्र किया. हाथपैरों वाले शरीर की रचना कर के सृष्टि रचना करने वाले ब्रह्म ने उस शरीर में आत्मा के रूप में प्रवेश किया. (११)
EN English Translation
At the time of creation, the creator collected hair, bones, nerves, flesh, and marrow i.e. fat. Brahma, who created the universe by creating a body with hands and feet, entered that body in the form of a soul. (11)
कुतः॒ केशा॒न्कुतः॒ स्नाव॒ कुतो॒ अस्थी॒न्याभ॑रत् । अङ्गा॒ पर्वा॑णि म॒ज्जानं॒ को मां॒सं कुत॒ आभ॑रत् ॥ (१२)

सृष्टि रचना करने वाले ईश्वर ने केशों, स्नायुओं अर्थात् नसों को और हड्डियों को किस उपादान कारण से बनाया, अंगों, जोड़ों, चरबी और मांस की रचना उस ने कहां से की? (१२)

For what reason did God, who created the creation, create the hair, nerves and bones, from where did He create the organs, joints, fat, and flesh? (12)
सं॒सिचो॒ नाम॒ ते दे॒वा ये सं॑भा॒रान्त्स॒मभ॑रन् । सर्वं॑ सं॒सिच्य॒ मर्त्यं॑ दे॒वाः पुरु॑ष॒मावि॑शन् ॥ (१३)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
ज्ञानेंद्रियां, कर्मेद्रियों एवं प्राण, अपान आदि के रूप में जिन साधनों को पहले बताया गया है, उन्हें सृष्टि रचना करने वाले ब्रह्म ने एकत्र किया. उन साधनों से बने शरीर को रक्त, मज्जा आदि से गीला कर के उन देवों ने मरण धर्मा पुरुष का निर्माण कर के आत्मा के रूप में उस में प्रवेश किया. (१३)
EN English Translation
The means mentioned earlier in the form of senses, karmedris and prana, apana etc., were collected by Brahma, who created the universe. By wetting the body made by those means with blood, marrow, etc., those gods created the dead dharma purush and entered it as a soul. (13)
ऊ॒रू पादा॑वष्ठी॒वन्तौ॒ शिरो॒ हस्ता॒वथो॒ मुख॑म् । पृ॒ष्टीर्ब॑र्जह्ये पा॒र्श्वे कस्तत्सम॑दधा॒दृषिः॑ ॥ (१४)

जंघाओं को, पैरों को, घुटनों को, शीश को, हाथों को और मुख को, पसलियों को किस ऋषि ने बनाया. (१४)

Who made the thighs, feet, knees, head, hands and mouth, ribs? (14)
शिरो॒ हस्ता॒वथो॒ मुखं॑ जि॒ह्वां ग्री॒वाश्च॒ कीक॑साः । त्व॒चा प्रा॒वृत्य॒ सर्वं॒ तत्सं॒धा सम॑दधान्म॒ही ॥ (१५)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
शीश को, दोनों हाथों को, मुख को, जीभ को, गरदन को, हङ्डियों को एवं उस सारे शरीर को त्वचा से ढक कर इस के निर्माण कर्ता देवता ने आपस में जोड़ दिया. (१५)
EN English Translation
Covering the head, both hands, mouth, tongue, neck, bones and all that body with skin, the god who created it connected together. (15)
यत्तच्छरी॑र॒मश॑यत्सं॒धया॒ संहि॑तं म॒हत् । येने॒दम॒द्य रोच॑ते॒ को अ॑स्मि॒न्वर्ण॒माभ॑रत् ॥ (१६)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
इस प्रकार के शरीर का निर्माण करने वाले देवता सहित जो बढ़ा हुआ शरीर है, वह इस समय जिस रंग के कारण सुंदर लगता है, उस शरीर में किस नाम के देव ने उस रंग को बनाया है? (१६)

The enlarged body, including the deity who creates this type of body, has created that color in the color due to which name god has created that color in that body? (16)
सर्वे॑ दे॒वा उपा॑शिक्ष॒न्तद॑जानाद्व॒धूः स॒ती । ई॒शा वश॑स्य॒ या जा॒या सास्मि॒न्वर्ण॒माभ॑रत् ॥ (१७)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
सभी देवों ने समीप में शक्तिशाली होने की इच्छा की. परमेश्वर के साथ विवाह करने वाली माया ने देवों के द्वारा बनाए हुए उस शरीर को जाना. जो माया सारे संसार का नियंत्रण करने वाली है, उस ने इस शरीर में रंग भरा है. (१७)
EN English Translation
Maya, who married God, came to know the body created by the gods. Maya, which is going to control the whole world, has added color to this body. (17)
य॒दा त्वष्टा॒ व्यतृ॑णत्पि॒ता त्वष्टु॒र्य उत्त॑रः । गृ॒हं कृ॒त्वा मर्त्यं॑ दे॒वाः पुरु॑ष॒मावि॑शन् ॥ (१८)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
उस शरीर में आत्मा के रूप में उस का निर्माण करने वाला ईश्वर स्थित है. उस निर्माण कार्य से भी श्रेष्ठ इस विचित्र संसार का निर्माण करने वाला जो देव है, उस ने निर्माण के समय पुरुष के शरीर, आंखों, कानों आदि के रूप में छेद किए, तब उस निर्माण देव ने उस पुरुष शरीर को घर बना कर उस में प्रवेश किया. (१८)
EN English Translation
In that body is the God who created it in the form of soul. The God who created this strange world, even better than that construction work, made holes in the form of the body, eyes, ears, etc. of the man at the time of construction, then that construction god made that male body a house and entered it. (18)
स्वप्नो॒ वै त॒न्द्रीर्निरृ॑तिः पा॒प्मानो॒ नाम॑ दे॒वताः॑ । ज॒रा खाल॑त्यं॒ पालि॑त्यं॒ शरी॑र॒मनु॒ प्रावि॑शन् ॥ (१९)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
नींद, आलस्य, पापदेवता एवं ब्रह्महत्या आदि पापों ने इस शरीर में प्रवेश किया. वृद्धावस्था, नयन आदि का नष्ट होना, त्वचा का ढीला हो जाना आदि के अभिमानी देवों ने शरीर में प्रवेश किया. (१९)
EN English Translation
Sins like sleep, laziness, sin god and brahmahatya etc. entered this body. The arrogant gods of old age, destruction of nayan etc., loosening of skin, etc. entered the body. (19)
स्तेयं॑ दुष्कृ॒तं वृ॑जि॒नं स॒त्यं य॒ज्ञो यशो॑ बृ॒हत् । बलं॑ च क्ष॒त्रमोज॑श्च॒ शरी॑र॒मनु॒ प्रावि॑शन् ॥ (२०)

चोरी, सुरा पीना आदि बुरे कर्म, इन से उत्पन्न पाप, सत्य भाषण, यज्ञ, महान यश, बल और क्षत्रियों से संबंधित ओज ने इस शरीर में प्रवेश किया. (२०)

Bad deeds like theft, drinking sura, etc., sins resulting from them, true speech, yajna, great fame, strength and oz related to Kshatriyas entered this body. (20)
भूति॑श्च॒ वा अभू॑तिश्च रा॒तयोऽरा॑तयश्च॒ याः । क्षुध॑श्च॒ सर्वा॒स्तृष्णा॑श्च॒ शरी॑र॒मनु॒ प्रावि॑शन् ॥ (२१)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
समृद्धि, असमृद्धि अर्थात् संपन्नता और दीनता, मित्र और शत्रु, भूख और प्यास, इन सब ने पुरुष के शरीर में प्रवेश किया. (२१)

Prosperity, unfriendly i.e. prosperity and humility, friends and enemies, hunger and thirst, all these entered the body of the man. (21)
नि॒न्दाश्च॒ वा अनि॑न्दाश्च॒ यच्च॒ हन्तेति॒ नेति॑ च । शरी॑रं श्र॒द्धा दक्षि॒णाश्र॑द्धा॒ चानु॒ प्रावि॑शन् ॥ (२२)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
निंदा और प्रशंसा, हर्ष और शोक, धन की समृद्धि और इच्छा का अभाव इन्होंने शरीर में प्रवेश किया. (२२)
EN English Translation
They entered the body with condemnation and praise, joy and mourning, prosperity of wealth and lack of desire. (22)
वि॒द्याश्च॒ वा अवि॑द्याश्च॒ यच्चा॒न्यदु॑पदे॒श्यम् । शरी॑रं॒ ब्रह्म॒ प्रावि॑श॒दृचः॒ सामाथो॒ यजुः॑ ॥ (२३)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
शास्त्र आदि में ज्ञान और अज्ञान ने, अन्य उपदेश योग्य भावों ने, ऋग्वेद, सामवेद और यजुर्वेद के मंत्रों के पश्चात ब्रह्म अर्थात् ब्रह्म के अंश आत्मा ने शरीर में प्रवेश किया. (२३)
EN English Translation
In the scriptures etc., knowledge and ignorance, other preachable emotions, after the mantras of Rigveda, Samaveda and Yajurveda, Brahma i.e. the soul, part of Brahma, entered the body. (23)
आ॑न॒न्दा मोदाः॑ प्र॒मुदो॑ऽभिमोद॒मुद॑श्च॒ ये । ह॒सो न॑रिष्टा नृ॒त्तानि॒ शरी॑र॒मनु॒ प्रावि॑शन् ॥ (२४)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
आनंद, मोद, प्रमोद, सामने वर्तमान मोद अर्थात् अभिमोद, हंसी, शब्द, रूप, स्पर्श आदि एवं नृत्य आदि ने इस शरीर में प्रवेश किया. (२४)

Anand, Mod, Pramod, the present mod in front i.e. greeting, laughter, words, form, touch etc. and dance etc. entered this body. (24)
आ॑ला॒पाश्च॑ प्रला॒पाश्चा॑भीलाप॒लप॑श्च॒ ये । शरी॑रं॒ सर्वे॒ प्रावि॑शन्ना॒युजः॑ प्र॒युजो॒ युजः॑ ॥ (२५)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
सार्थक वचन, निरर्थक वचन, अभिलाषाओं से पूर्ण वचन, आयोजन, प्रयोजन और योजना-इन सब ने मनुष्य के शरीर में प्रवेश किया. (२५)

Meaningful words, meaningless words, words full of desires, organizing, purpose, and planning—all these entered the human body. (25)
प्रा॑णापा॒नौ चक्षुः॒ श्रोत्र॒मक्षि॑तिश्च॒ क्षिति॑श्च॒ या । व्या॑नोदा॒नौ वाङ्मनः॒ शरी॑रेण॒ त ई॑यन्ते ॥ (२६)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
प्राण और अपान वायुएं, नेत्र, कान, विनाश का अभाव और विनाश, व्यान और उदान वायुएं, वाणी और मन-ये सभी इस शरीर में प्रवेश कर के अपने-अपने काम लगे हैं. (२६)

Prana and apana air, eyes, ears, lack of destruction and destruction, vayan and udan airs, speech and mind - all these have entered this body and started their own work. (26)
आ॒शिष॑श्च प्र॒शिष॑श्च सं॒शिषो॑ वि॒शिष॑श्च॒ याः । चि॒त्तानि॒ सर्वे॑ संक॒ल्पाः शरी॑र॒मनु॒ प्रावि॑शन् ॥ (२७)

मनचाहे फल की प्रार्थनाएं, उत्कृष्ट प्रार्थनाएं, भलीभांति होने वाली प्रार्थनाएं तथा अनेक प्रकार की प्रार्थनाएं, मनबुद्धि और अहंकार, सभी संकल्प-इन्होंने पुरुष शरीर में प्रवेश किया. (२७)

Prayers of desired fruit, excellent prayers, well-being prayers and many types of prayers, mind and ego, all resolutions - they entered the male body. (27)
आस्ते॑यीश्च॒ वास्ते॑यीश्च त्वर॒णाः कृ॑प॒णाश्च॒ याः । गुह्याः॑ शु॒क्रा स्थू॒ला अ॒पस्ता बी॑भ॒त्साव॑सादयन् ॥ (२८)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
भलीभांति स्नान, स्नान से संबंधित जल, शीघ्रता से चलने वाले तथा थोड़ी मात्रा में होने वाले जल, गुफा में होने वाले, श्वेत वर्ण के अर्थात् स्वच्छ जल, अधिक मात्रा में होने वाले नदी रूप में वर्तमान जल-इन सब ने पुरुष के शरीर में प्रवेश किया. (२८)

Good bathing, bathing water, fast-moving and small amounts of water, cave-in, white-colored, high-level river water, present water in the form of a river – all of these entered the man's body. (28)
अस्थि॑ कृ॒त्वा स॒मिधं॒ तद॒ष्टापो॑ असादयन् । रेतः॑ कृत्वाज्यं॑ दे॒वाः पुरु॑ष॒मावि॑शन् ॥ (२९)

हड्डियों को समिधा बना कर पहले कहे गए आठ प्रकार के जलों ने पुरुष के शरीर में प्रवेश किया. वीर्य को घृत बना कर देवों ने पुरुष के शरीर में प्रवेश किया. (२९)

By making bones samidha, the eight types of water mentioned earlier entered the man's body. The gods entered the man's body by making semen. (29)
या आपो॒ याश्च॑ दे॒वता॒ या वि॒राड्ब्रह्म॑णा स॒ह । शरी॑रं॒ ब्रह्म॒ प्रावि॑श॒च्छरी॒रेऽधि॑ प्र॒जाप॑तिः ॥ (३०)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
जो जल, जो देवता, जो विराट् तथा जो प्रजापति कहे गए हैं, ब्रह्म के साथ आत्मा के रूप में उन सभी ने पुरुष के शरीर में प्रवेश किया. (३०)

The water, the deities, the greats and the prajapatis, the brahma, as well as the soul, all of them entered the man's body. (30)
