यो राजा॑ चर्षणी॒नां याता॒ रथे॑भि॒रध्रि॑गुः । विश्वा॑सां तरु॒ता पृत॑नानां॒ ज्येष्ठो॒ यो वृ॑त्र॒हा गृ॒णे ॥ (१)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
मैं प्रजाओं के राजा, रथ द्वारा चलने वाले, गमन में निर्बाध, सभी सेनाओं को तारने वाले, ज्येष्ठ एवं वृत्रह॑ता इंद्र की स्तुति करता हूं. (१)
EN English Translation
I praise Indra, the king of the people, who walks by the chariot, who walks uninterrupted in transit, who has wired all armies, the eldest and the vrithrahuta. (1)
इन्द्रं॒ तं शु॑म्भ पुरुहन्म॒न्नव॑से॒ यस्य॑ द्वि॒ता वि॑ध॒र्तरि॑ । हस्ता॑य॒ वज्रः॒ प्रति॑ धायि दर्श॒तो म॒हो दि॒वे न सूर्यः॑ ॥ (२)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे पुरुहन्मा ऋषि! तुम अपनी रक्षा के लिए इंद्र को अलंकृत करो. तुम्हारे विधाता इंद्र का स्वभाव उग्र एवं कोमल दो प्रकार का है. इंद्र अपने हाथ में दर्शनीय एवं आकाश में सूर्य के समान दिखाई देने वाला वज्र धारण करते हैं. (२)
EN English Translation
O Sage Puruhanma! You embellish Indra for your protection. The nature of your vidhata Indra is of two types, fierce and gentle. Indra holds a thunderbolt visible in his hand and looks like the sun in the sky. (2)
नकि॒ष्टं कर्म॑णा नश॒द्यश्च॒कार॑ स॒दावृ॑धम् । इन्द्रं॒ न य॒ज्ञैर्वि॒श्वगू॑र्त॒मृभ्व॑स॒मधृ॑ष्टं धृ॒ष्ण्वो॑जसम् ॥ (३)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
जो यज्ञसाधनों द्वारा सदा वृद्धि करने वाले, सबके स्तुतियोग्य, महान् अन्यों द्वारा पराभवरहित एवं सबको दबाने वाली शक्ति से युक्त इंद्र को यज्ञसाधनों द्वारा अपने अनुकूल बना लेते हैं, उनके कर्म में कोई व्यक्ति बाधा उत्पन्न नहीं कर सकता. (३)
EN English Translation
No one can hinder the karma of those who have always increased by sacrificial means, who are praiseworthy of all, without defeat by great others and with the power of suppressing all. (3)
अषा॑ळ्हमु॒ग्रं पृत॑नासु सास॒हिं यस्मि॑न्म॒हीरु॑रु॒ज्रयः॑ । सं धे॒नवो॒ जाय॑माने अनोनवु॒र्द्यावः॒ क्षामो॑ अनोनवुः ॥ (४)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
मैं दूसरों के लिए असहनीय, उग्र व शत्रु सेनाओं को पराजित करने वाले इंद्र की स्तुति करता हूं. इंद्र के जन्म के समय विशाल एवं वेगशालिनी गायों ने, ह्युलोक तथा धरती ने स्तुति की थी. (४)
EN English Translation
I praise Indra, who has defeated the unbearable, fierce and hostile armies for others. At the time of Indra's birth, the giant and vegetative cows, The Hulok and the earth had praised him. (4)
यद्द्याव॑ इन्द्र ते श॒तं श॒तं भूमी॑रु॒त स्युः । न त्वा॑ वज्रिन्स॒हस्रं॒ सूर्या॒ अनु॒ न जा॒तम॑ष्ट॒ रोद॑सी ॥ (५)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे इंद्र! यदि सौ द्यौ एवं सौ भूमियां हो जावें, तब भी तुम्हें नापा नहीं जा सकता. हे वज्रधारी इंद्र! सौ सूर्य तुम्हें प्रकाशित नहीं कर सकते और न आठ द्यावा-पृथिवी तुम्हारी सीमा बना सकते हैं. (५)
EN English Translation
O Indra! Even if there are a hundred or so many lands, you cannot be measured. O thunderbolt Indra! A hundred suns cannot illuminate you, nor can the eight earths make your limits. (5)
आ प॑प्राथ महि॒ना वृष्ण्या॑ वृष॒न्विश्वा॑ शविष्ठ॒ शव॑सा । अ॒स्माँ अ॑व मघव॒न्गोम॑ति व्र॒जे वज्रि॑ञ्चि॒त्राभि॑रू॒तिभिः॑ ॥ (६)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे अभिलाषापूरक, अतिशय शक्तिशाली, धनस्वामी एवं वज्रधारी इंद्र! तुमने अपनी महान् शक्ति द्वारा शत्रुओं की आयुध बरसाने वाली सेनाओं को वश में किया है. तुम नाना रक्षासाधनों द्वारा शत्रुओं से हमारी गोशाला की रक्षा करो. (६)
EN English Translation
O desireful, very powerful, wealthy and thunderbolt Indra! You have subdued the armies that rain the arms of enemies by your great power. You protect our goshala from enemies by various defense means. (6)
न सी॒मदे॑व आप॒दिषं॑ दीर्घायो॒ मर्त्यः॑ । एत॑ग्वा चि॒द्य एत॑शा यु॒योज॑ते॒ हरी॒ इन्द्रो॑ यु॒योज॑ते ॥ (७)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे दीर्घ आयु वाले इंद्र! देवों को न मानने वाला मनुष्य सब अन्न प्राप्त नहीं करता. जो मनुष्य इंद्र के श्वेतवर्ण अश्वों को रथ में जोड़ता है, इंद्र अपने घोड़ों की सहायता से उसी के यज्ञ में आते हैं. (७)
EN English Translation
O long-aged Indra! A man who does not believe in the gods does not receive all the food. The man who adds indra's white-coloured horses to the chariot, Indra comes to his yajna with the help of his horses. (7)
तं वो॑ म॒हो म॒हाय्य॒मिन्द्रं॑ दा॒नाय॑ स॒क्षणि॑म् । यो गा॒धेषु॒ य आर॑णेषु॒ हव्यो॒ वाजे॒ष्वस्ति॒ हव्यः॑ ॥ (८)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे महान् ऋत्विजो! दान पाने के लिए तुम उस पूज्य इंद्र की सेवा करो. इंद्र जलप्राप्ति के लिए निचले स्थानों में पहुंचने के लिए तथा युद्ध में विजय पाने के लिए बुलाने योग्य हैं. (८)
EN English Translation
O great Ritvizzo! To get the donation you serve that revered Indra. Indra is worthy of being called to reach the lower places for water and to win the war. (8)
उदू॒ षु णो॑ वसो म॒हे मृ॒शस्व॑ शूर॒ राध॑से । उदू॒ षु म॒ह्यै म॑घवन्म॒घत्त॑य॒ उदि॑न्द्र॒ श्रव॑से म॒हे ॥ (९)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे निवासस्थान देने वाले एवं शूर इंद्र! महान् अन्न देने के लिए हमें उन्नत करो. हे धनस्वामी एवं शूर इंद्र! हमें महान् धन एवं विशाल कीर्ति देने का प्रयास करो. (९)
EN English Translation
O lord of abode and shur indra! Upgrade us to give great food. O Dhanaswami and Shoor Indra! Try to give us great wealth and great fame. (9)
त्वं न॑ इन्द्र ऋत॒युस्त्वा॒निदो॒ नि तृ॑म्पसि । मध्ये॑ वसिष्व तुविनृम्णो॒र्वोर्नि दा॒सं शि॑श्नथो॒ हथैः॑ ॥ (१०)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे यज्ञाभिलाषी इंद्र! तुम अपने निंदक का धन छीनकर बहुत प्रसन्न होते हो. हे अधिक धन वाले इंद्र! हमारी रक्षा के लिए तुम हमें अपनी दोनों जांघों के बीच छिपा लो एवं हमसे द्वेष करने वाले दासों को आयुधों द्वारा मारो. (१०)
EN English Translation
O Yagyabhilashi Indra! You are very happy to take away the money of your slanderer. O Indra with more wealth! To protect us, hide us between your two thighs and kill the dasas who hate us with weapons. (10)
अ॒न्यव्र॑त॒ममा॑नुष॒मय॑ज्वान॒मदे॑वयुम् । अव॒ स्वः सखा॑ दुधुवीत॒ पर्व॑तः सु॒घ्नाय॒ दस्युं॒ पर्व॑तः ॥ (११)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे इंद्र! तुम्हारे मित्र पर्वत ऋषि तुम्हारे अतिरिक्त किसी अन्य के लिए यज्ञ करने वाले, मानव से भिन्न, यज्ञरहित व देवों को न मानने वाले को स्वर्ग से नीचे गिरा देते हैं एवं दस्यु को मृत्यु की ओर प्रेरित करते हैं. (११)
EN English Translation
O Indra! Your friend mountain sages cast down from heaven the one who performs yajna for someone other than you, who is different from human beings, without a yagna and who does not believe in gods, and drives the bandit to death. (11)
त्वं न॑ इन्द्रासां॒ हस्ते॑ शविष्ठ दा॒वने॑ । धा॒नानां॒ न सं गृ॑भायास्म॒युर्द्विः सं गृ॑भायास्म॒युः ॥ (१२)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे शक्तिशाली इंद्र! तुम हमें देने की अभिलाषा से गायों को इस प्रकार ग्रहण करो, जिस प्रकार जौ हाथ में लिए जाते हैं. तुम हमें देने की अभिलाषा से अधिक वस्तुएं हाथ में लो. (१२)
EN English Translation
O mighty Indra! You take the cows with the desire to give us in this way, just as barleys are taken in your hand. Take more things into your hand than you desire to give us. (12)
सखा॑यः॒ क्रतु॑मिच्छत क॒था रा॑धाम श॒रस्य॑ । उप॑स्तुतिं भो॒जः सू॒रिर्यो अह्र॑यः ॥ (१३)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
अध्वर्यु मित्रो! तुम इंद्र संबंधी यज्ञ करने की इच्छा करो. हम शत्रुहिंसक इंद्र की स्तुति कैसे करेंगे? शन्रुओं को खाने वाले एवं मित्रों के रक्षक इंद्र शत्रुओं को झुकाते हैं. (१३)
EN English Translation
Audvaryu friends! You wish to perform indra related yajna. How are we going to praise the enemy, the violent Indra? Indra, the eater of the shanrus and the protector of friends, bows down to the enemies. (13)
भूरि॑भिः समह॒ ऋषि॑भिर्ब॒र्हिष्म॑द्भिः स्तविष्यसे । यदि॒त्थमेक॑मेक॒मिच्छर॑ व॒त्सान्प॑रा॒ददः॑ ॥ (१४)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे सब लोगों द्वारा पूज्य इंद्र! बहुत से ऋषियों और ऋत्विजों द्वारा तुम्हारी स्तुति की जाती है. हे शत्रुनाशक इंद्र! तुम स्तोताओं को एक-एक करके अनेक प्रकार से बछड़े देते हो. (१४)
EN English Translation
O Indra, revered by all people! You are praised by many sages and ritvijas. O destroyer Indra! You give calves to the psalms one by one in many ways. (14)
क॒र्ण॒गृह्या॑ म॒घवा॑ शौरदे॒व्यो व॒त्सं न॑स्त्रि॒भ्य आन॑यत् । अ॒जां सू॒रिर्न धात॑वे ॥ (१५)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
धनी इंद्र संग्राम में शत्रुओं से छीनी हुई गायों को एवं उनके बछड़ों को कान पकड़कर हमारे पास इस प्रकार ले आवें, जिस प्रकार बालक बकरी को पानी पिलाने ले जाता है. (१५)
EN English Translation
In the rich Indra war, the cows and their calves snatched from the enemies should be taken to us by the ears and brought to us in such a way that the child takes the goat for water. (15)
