स॒त्येनोत्त॑भिता॒ भूमिः॒ सूर्ये॒णोत्त॑भिता॒ द्यौः । ऋ॒तेना॑दि॒त्यास्ति॑ष्ठन्ति दि॒वि सोमो॒ अधि॑ श्रि॒तः ॥ (१)

देवों में सत्यरूप ब्रह्मा ने धरती को ऊपर रोक लिया है एवं सूर्य ने द्युलोक को धारण किया है. यज्ञ के द्वारा देवता स्थित हैं एवं सोम द्युलोक में स्थित हैं. (१)
EN English Translation
Among the gods, Brahma, the form of satyarupa, has held the earth up and the sun has held the doloka. The deities are located through the yajna and som is located in dolok. (1)
सोमे॑नादि॒त्या ब॒लिनः॒ सोमे॑न पृथि॒वी म॒ही । अथो॒ नक्ष॑त्राणामे॒षामु॒पस्थे॒ सोम॒ आहि॑तः ॥ (२)

देवगण सोम के कारण ही शक्तिशाली बनते हैं एवं सोम से ही धरती महान् बनी है. सोम इन नक्षत्रों के समीप स्थित हैं. (२)
EN English Translation
Devagana becomes powerful only because of Soma and it is from Soma that the earth has become great. Mon are located adjacent to these nakshatras. (2)
सोमं॑ मन्यते पपि॒वान्यत्स॑म्पिं॒षन्त्योष॑धिम् । सोमं॒ यं ब्र॒ह्माणो॑ वि॒दुर्न तस्या॑श्नाति॒ कश्च॒न ॥ (३)

लोग जब सोमलता को पीसते हैं तभी समझ लेते हैं कि हमने सोमरस पी लिया. ब्राह्मण लोग जिसे सोम समझते हैं, उसे कोई भी नहीं पी सकता. (३)
EN English Translation
Only when people grind somalatha do they understand that we drank somras. No one can drink what the Brahmins think of as Som. (3)
आ॒च्छद्वि॑धानैर्गुपि॒तो बार्ह॑तैः सोम रक्षि॒तः । ग्राव्णा॒मिच्छृ॒ण्वन्ति॑ष्ठसि॒ न ते॑ अश्नाति॒ पार्थि॑वः ॥ (४)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे सोम! छिपाने के साधन जानने वाले स्तोता लोग तुम्हें छिपाकर सुरक्षित रखते हैं. तुम पत्थरों का शब्द सुनते हो. धरती पर रहने वाला कोई भी मनुष्य तुम्हें नहीं पी सकता. (४)
EN English Translation
Hey Mon! Stotas who know the means of hiding keep you safe by hiding. You hear the word of the stones. No man on earth can drink you. (4)
यत्त्वा॑ देव प्र॒पिब॑न्ति॒ तत॒ आ प्या॑यसे॒ पुनः॑ । वा॒युः सोम॑स्य रक्षि॒ता समा॑नां॒ मास॒ आकृ॑तिः ॥ (५)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे सोम! लोग तुम्हें तीनों सवनों में पीते हैं, इससे तुम बार-बार बढ़ते हो. वायु उसी प्रकार सोम की रक्षा करते हैं, जिस प्रकार वायु के समान आकार वाले मास, वर्ष की रक्षा करते हैं. (५)
EN English Translation
Hey Mon! People drink you in all three gardens, so that you grow again and again. The air protects the mon in the same way as the mass of the same size as the air protects the year. (5)
रैभ्या॑सीदनु॒देयी॑ नाराशं॒सी न्योच॑नी । सू॒र्याया॑ भ॒द्रमिद्वासो॒ गाथ॑यैति॒ परि॑ष्कृतम् ॥ (६)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
सूर्यपुत्री सूर्या के विवाह के समय रेभी नामक ऋचाएं उसकी सखियां बनी थीं तथा नाराशंसी नामक ऋचाएं उसकी दासियां बनीं. सूर्या का पूरा कल्याणकारी वस्त्र गाथा के द्वारा ही बनाया गया था. (६)
EN English Translation
At the time of Surya's marriage, the riches named Rebhi became his friends and the riches named Narasani became his maids. The entire welfare of Surya was created by the textile saga itself. (6)
चित्ति॑रा उप॒बर्ह॑णं॒ चक्षु॑रा अ॒भ्यञ्ज॑नम् । द्यौर्भूमिः॒ कोश॑ आसी॒द्यदया॑त्सू॒र्या पति॑म् ॥ (७)

विवाह के बाद विदा होते समय दिव्यता उसकी आवरण एवं आंखें ही अंजन बनी थीं. इस समय द्यावा-पृथिवी उसके खजाने थे. (७)
EN English Translation
When leaving after marriage, divinity covered her and eyes became anjan. At this time, Dyava-Prithvivi were her treasures. (7)
स्तोमा॑ आसन्प्रति॒धयः॑ कु॒रीरं॒ छन्द॑ ओप॒शः । सू॒र्याया॑ अ॒श्विना॑ व॒राग्निरा॑सीत्पुरोग॒वः ॥ (८)

स्तोत्र सूर्या के रथ के पहियों के अरे थे. कुरीर नामक छंद उस रथ का भीतरी भाग था. अश्विनीकुमार सूर्या के वर एवं अग्नि उसके आगे चलने वाले थे. (८)
EN English Translation
The hymns were hey of the wheels of Surya's chariot. The verse called Kurir was the inner part of that chariot. Ashwinikumar Surya's groom and agni were about to walk ahead of him. (8)
सोमो॑ वधू॒युर॑भवद॒श्विना॑स्तामु॒भा व॒रा । सू॒र्यां यत्पत्ये॒ शंस॑न्तीं॒ मन॑सा सवि॒ताद॑दात् ॥ (९)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
सूर्या ने जब पति की कामना की और सविता ने मन से अपनी कन्या सोम को दी थी, उस समय सोम वधू की कामना करने वाले वर थे. अश्विनीकुमार ही सूर्या के वर बने. (९)
EN English Translation
When Surya wished for her husband and Savita had given her daughter to Som with all her heart, som was the bridegroom who wished for the bride at that time. Ashwinikumar became Surya's bridegroom. (9)
मनो॑ अस्या॒ अन॑ आसी॒द्द्यौरा॑सीदु॒त च्छ॒दिः । शु॒क्राव॑न॒ड्वाहा॑वास्तां॒ यदया॑त्सू॒र्या गृ॒हम् ॥ (१०)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
सूर्या जिस समय पति के घर गई उस समय उसका मन ही उसकी गाड़ी थी, आकाश आवरण था तथा सूर्य एवं चंद्र बैल थे. (१०)
EN English Translation
At the time Surya went to her husband's house, her mind was her vehicle, the sky was the curtain and the sun and the moon were bulls. (10)
ऋ॒क्सा॒माभ्या॑म॒भिहि॑तौ॒ गावौ॑ ते साम॒नावि॑तः । श्रोत्रं॑ ते च॒क्रे आ॑स्तां दि॒वि पन्था॑श्चराचा॒रः ॥ (११)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
ऋग्वेद और सामवेद द्वारा वर्णित सूर्य एवं चंद्रमारूपी दो बैल सूर्या की गाड़ी को खींच रहे थे. हे सूर्या! तुम्हारे कान ही गाड़ी के पहिए थे एवं आकाश उस रथ का मार्ग था. (११)
EN English Translation
as described by Rigveda and Samaveda, Two bullocks in the form of Sun and Moon were pulling Surya's cart. O Surya! Your ears were the wheels of the cart and the sky was the path of that chariot. (11)
शुची॑ ते च॒क्रे या॒त्या व्या॒नो अक्ष॒ आह॑तः । अनो॑ मन॒स्मयं॑ सू॒र्यारो॑हत्प्रय॒ती पति॑म् ॥ (१२)

हे सूर्या पतिगृह के लिए चलते समय दोनों कान तुम्हारी गाड़ी के पहिए थे एवं वायु उन में अरों के समान थे. सूर्या इस प्रकार की मनरूपी गाड़ी पर सवार हुई. (१२)
EN English Translation
O Surya, while walking for the husband's home, both ears were the wheels of your car and the air was like arrows in them. Surya rode on this kind of car. (12)
सू॒र्याया॑ वह॒तुः प्रागा॑त्सवि॒ता यम॒वासृ॑जत् । अ॒घासु॑ हन्यन्ते॒ गावोऽर्जु॑न्योः॒ पर्यु॑ह्यते ॥ (१३)

गाय आदि के रूप में दिया गया उपहार सूर्या के आगे-आगे चला. वह उपहार सूर्य ने दिया था. मघा नक्षत्र में दी गई गाएं डंडे से हांकी जा रही थीं, पूर्वा फाल्गुनी और उत्तरा फाल्गुनी नक्षत्रों में सूर्या एवं उसका उपहार पतिगृह ले जाया गया. (१३)
EN English Translation
The gifts given in the form of cow etc. went ahead of Surya. That gift was given by the sun. The cows given in the Magha nakshatra were being run over with sticks, Surya and her gifts in the Purva Phalguni and Uttara Phalguni nakshatras were taken to the husband's home. (13)
यद॑श्विना पृ॒च्छमा॑ना॒वया॑तं त्रिच॒क्रेण॑ वह॒तुं सू॒र्यायाः॑ । विश्वे॑ दे॒वा अनु॒ तद्वा॑मजानन्पु॒त्रः पि॒तरा॑ववृणीत पू॒षा ॥ (१४)

हे अश्चिनीकुमारो! जिस समय तुम सूर्या के विवाह के विषय में पूछने के लिए तीन पहियों वाले रथ से गए थे, उस समय सभी देवों ने तुम्हारा समर्थन किया था और पूषा ने तुम्हें माता-पिता के रूप में स्वीकार किया था. (१४)
EN English Translation
O aschinikumaro! At the time when you went by a three-wheeled chariot to ask about Surya's marriage, all the gods supported you and Pusha accepted you as a parent. (14)
यदया॑तं शुभस्पती वरे॒यं सू॒र्यामुप॑ । क्वैकं॑ च॒क्रं वा॑मासी॒त्क्व॑ दे॒ष्ट्राय॑ तस्थथुः ॥ (१५)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे जल के स्वामी अश्विनीकुमारो! जिस समय तुम सूर्या का वरण करने उसके समीप गए, उस समय तुम्हारा एक रथचक्र कहां था एवं तुम दान के लिए कहां स्थित थे? (१५)
EN English Translation
O Lord of water Ashwinikumaro! At the time when you went to him to select surya, where was one of your chariot cycles and where were you located for charity? (15)
द्वे ते॑ च॒क्रे सू॑र्ये ब्र॒ह्माण॑ ऋतु॒था वि॑दुः । अथैकं॑ च॒क्रं यद्गुहा॒ तद॑द्धा॒तय॒ इद्वि॑दुः ॥ (१६)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे सूर्या! ब्राह्मण लोग जानते हैं कि तुम्हारे शकट के सूर्यचंद्र दोनों पहिए समय के अनुसार चलते हैं. तुम्हारा संवत्सररूप पहिया जो गुफा में छिपा हुआ है, उसे मेधावी लोग जानते हैं. (१६)
EN English Translation
Oh, O Surya! The Brahmins know that both the sun moon wheels of your shakat run according to the times. Your samvatsaroop wheel which is hidden in the cave is known to the meritorious people. (16)
सू॒र्यायै॑ दे॒वेभ्यो॑ मि॒त्राय॒ वरु॑णाय च । ये भू॒तस्य॒ प्रचे॑तस इ॒दं तेभ्यो॑ऽकरं॒ नमः॑ ॥ (१७)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
सूर्या, देवगण, मित्र, वरुण एवं प्राणियों को अभीष्ट फल देने वालों को मैं नमस्कार करता हूं. (१७)
EN English Translation
I salute surya, devagana, friends, varuna and those who give the desired fruits to beings. (17)
पू॒र्वा॒प॒रं च॑रतो मा॒ययै॒तौ शिशू॒ क्रीळ॑न्तौ॒ परि॑ यातो अध्व॒रम् । विश्वा॑न्य॒न्यो भुव॑नाभि॒चष्ट॑ ऋ॒तूँर॒न्यो वि॒दध॑ज्जायते॒ पुनः॑ ॥ (१८)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
दोनों बालक अर्थात् सूर्य-चंद्र अपनी शक्ति से पूर्व और पश्चिम में घूमते हैं. क्रीड़ा करते हुए यज्ञ में आते हैं. इन में से पहला अर्थात् सूर्य सब लोकों को देखता है तथा दूसरा अर्थात् चंद्र वसंत आदि ऋतुओं का निर्माण करता हुआ बार-बार जन्म लेता है. (१८)
EN English Translation
Both the children i.e. the sun and the moon rotate in the east and west with their power. Come to the yagna while playing. The first of these i.e. the sun sees all the people and the second i.e. the moon is born again and again, creating spring, etc. (18)
नवो॑नवो भवति॒ जाय॑मा॒नोऽह्नां॑ के॒तुरु॒षसा॑मे॒त्यग्र॑म् । भा॒गं दे॒वेभ्यो॒ वि द॑धात्या॒यन्प्र च॒न्द्रमा॑स्तिरते दी॒र्घमायुः॑ ॥ (१९)

दिन के सूचक सूर्य उत्पन्न होने पर नए होते हैं एवं उषाओं के सामने जाते हैं. सूर्य आते हुए देवों में यज्ञ का भाग बांटते हैं एवं चंद्रमा लोगों को चिरजीवन देता है. (१९)
EN English Translation
The indicators of the day are new when the sun is born and go in front of the ushas. As the sun comes, they distribute the part of the yagna among the gods and the moon gives eternal life to the people. (19)
सु॒किं॒शु॒कं श॑ल्म॒लिं वि॒श्वरू॑पं॒ हिर॑ण्यवर्णं सु॒वृतं॑ सुच॒क्रम् । आ रो॑ह सूर्ये अ॒मृत॑स्य लो॒कं स्यो॒नं पत्ये॑ वह॒तुं कृ॑णुष्व ॥ (२०)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे सूर्या! तुम शोभन पलाश एवं शाल्मली वृक्षों द्वारा निर्मित नाना रूप वाले सुनहरे आभूषणों से युक्त संगठित एवं सुंदर पहियों वाले रथ पर चढ़ो. तुम अपने पति से सुखकर एवं अमृत स्थान पर प्राप्त होओ. (२०)
EN English Translation
Oh, O Surya! You climb a chariot with organized and beautiful wheels with various golden ornaments made by shobhan palash and shalmali trees. You get happiness and nectar from your husband in a place. (20)
उदी॒र्ष्वातः॒ पति॑वती॒ ह्ये॒३॒॑षा वि॒श्वाव॑सुं॒ नम॑सा गी॒र्भिरी॑ळे । अ॒न्यामि॑च्छ पितृ॒षदं॒ व्य॑क्तां॒ स ते॑ भा॒गो ज॒नुषा॒ तस्य॑ विद्धि ॥ (२१)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे विश्वावसु! कन्या के पास से उठो, क्योंकि यह कन्या पति वाली हो चुकी है. मैं नमस्कार और स्तुतियों द्वारा तुम्हारी स्तुति करता हूं. पिता के घर में विवाह योग्य दूसरी कन्या हो तो उसकी इच्छा करो. यह समझ लो कि तुम्हारे भाग के रूप में वही उत्पन्न हुई है. (२१)
EN English Translation
O Vishwavasu! Get away from the kanya (girl), because this kanya has now a husband. I praise you with greetings and praises. If there is a marriageable second girl in the father's house, then think about her. Understand that the other girl has arisen as part of your destiny. (21)
उदी॒र्ष्वातो॑ विश्वावसो॒ नम॑सेळा महे त्वा । अ॒न्यामि॑च्छ प्रफ॒र्व्यं१॒॑ सं जा॒यां पत्या॑ सृज ॥ (२२)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे विश्वावसु! यहां से उठो. मैं नमस्कारपूर्वक तुम्हारी पूजा करता हूं. विशाल नितंबों वाली अन्य कन्या को चाहो एवं उसे पत्नी बनाकर स्वयं से मिलाओ. (२२)
EN English Translation
O Vishwavasu! Get up from here. I salute you. Want another girl with huge buttocks and make her a wife and meet yourself. (22)
अ॒नृ॒क्ष॒रा ऋ॒जवः॑ सन्तु॒ पन्था॒ येभिः॒ सखा॑यो॒ यन्ति॑ नो वरे॒यम् । सम॑र्य॒मा सं भगो॑ नो निनीया॒त्सं जा॑स्प॒त्यं सु॒यम॑मस्तु देवाः ॥ (२३)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे देवो! जिस मार्ग से हमारे मित्र कन्या के पिता के पास जाते हैं, वह मार्ग कंटकरहित एवं सरल हो. अर्यमा एवं भग नामक देव हमें भली प्रकार ले चलें. पति एवं पत्नी भली प्रकार मिलकर रहें. (२३)
EN English Translation
Oh, God! The path by which our friends go to the girl's father, the path should be staggerless and simple. May the Gods named Aryama and Bhaga take us well. Husband and wife should be well together. (23)
प्र त्वा॑ मुञ्चामि॒ वरु॑णस्य॒ पाशा॒द्येन॒ त्वाब॑ध्नात्सवि॒ता सु॒शेवः॑ । ऋ॒तस्य॒ योनौ॑ सुकृ॒तस्य॑ लो॒केऽरि॑ष्टां त्वा स॒ह पत्या॑ दधामि ॥ (२४)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे वधू! सुंदर मुख वाले सूर्य देव ने तुम्हें जिस बंधन से बांधा था, मैं तुम्हें वरुण के उस पाश से छुड़ाता हूं. मैं तुम्हें पति के साथ सत्य के आधार एवं सत्कर्म के लोकरूप स्थान में निर्विघ्नरूप से स्थापित करता हूं. (२४)
EN English Translation
O bride! I free you from the loop of Varuna with the bondage with which the beautiful-faced Sun God tied you. I establish you freely with the husband in the base of truth and in the lokaform of good deeds. (24)
प्रेतो मु॒ञ्चामि॒ नामुतः॑ सुब॒द्धाम॒मुत॑स्करम् । यथे॒यमि॑न्द्र मीढ्वः सुपु॒त्रा सु॒भगास॑ति ॥ (२५)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
मैं कन्या को पिता के कुल से छुड़ाता हूं, पति के कुल से नहीं. मैं पति के घर से इसे भली-भांति बांधता हूं. हे अभिलाषापूरक इंद्र! यह सौभाग्य एवं शोभन पुत्र वाली हो. (२५)
EN English Translation
I release the girl from the father's family, not from the husband's clan. I tie it up well with my husband's house. Oh, this desireful Indra! May it be a son of good fortune and good fortune. (25)
पू॒षा त्वे॒तो न॑यतु हस्त॒गृह्या॒श्विना॑ त्वा॒ प्र व॑हतां॒ रथे॑न । गृ॒हान्ग॑च्छ गृ॒हप॑त्नी॒ यथासो॑ व॒शिनी॒ त्वं वि॒दथ॒मा व॑दासि ॥ (२६)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे कन्या! पूषा तुम्हारा हाथ पकड़कर यहां से ले जावें. अश्विनीकुमार तुम्हें रथ द्वारा ले जावें. तुम गृहपत्नी बनने के लिए पति के घर जाओ एवं पति के वश में रहकर घर की व्यवस्था करो. (२६)
EN English Translation
Oh, Virgo! Pusha grab your hand and take it away from here. Let Ashwinikumar take you by the chariot. You go to the husband's house to become a housewife and arrange the house by being under the control of the husband. (26)
इ॒ह प्रि॒यं प्र॒जया॑ ते॒ समृ॑ध्यताम॒स्मिन्गृ॒हे गार्ह॑पत्याय जागृहि । ए॒ना पत्या॑ त॒न्वं१॒॑ सं सृ॑ज॒स्वाधा॒ जिव्री॑ वि॒दथ॒मा व॑दाथः ॥ (२७)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे वधू! तुम इस पतिगृह में प्यारी संतान के साथ समृद्ध बनो. इस घर में तुम गृहस्थी चलाने के लिए सावधान रहना. इस पति के साथ अपने शरीर का संयोग करो. तुम दोनों बूढ़े होने तक इस घर को अपना कहना. (२७)
EN English Translation
O bride! You be enriched with the beloved offspring in this husbandry. In this house you be careful to run the household. Combine your body with this husband. You both call this house yours until you're both old. (27)
नी॒ल॒लो॒हि॒तं भ॑वति कृ॒त्यास॒क्तिर्व्य॑ज्यते । एध॑न्ते अस्या ज्ञा॒तयः॒ पति॑र्ब॒न्धेषु॑ बध्यते ॥ (२८)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
पाप की देवी कृत्या क्रोध से लालपीले रंग की हो रही है. कृत्या को इस स्त्री पर संबद्ध करके छोड़ा जाता है. इसकी जाति के लोग बढ़ रहे हैं एवं इसका पति बंधन में है. (२८)

Karya, the goddess of sin, is getting red-coloured from anger. The act is left to associate with this woman. People of her jati are growing up and her husband is in bondage. (28)
परा॑ देहि शामु॒ल्यं॑ ब्र॒ह्मभ्यो॒ वि भ॑जा॒ वसु॑ । कृ॒त्यैषा प॒द्वती॑ भू॒त्व्या जा॒या वि॑शते॒ पति॑म् ॥ (२९)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
मैला कपड़ा उतार दो. ब्राह्मणों को धन दान करो इस प्रकार कृत्या चली जाती है और पत्नी पति में प्रवेश करती है. (२९)
EN English Translation
Take off the muddy cloth. Donate money to the Brahmins thus the act goes away and the wife enters the husband. (29)
अ॒श्री॒रा त॒नूर्भ॑वति॒ रुश॑ती पा॒पया॑मु॒या । पति॒र्यद्व॒ध्वो॒३॒॑ वास॑सा॒ स्वमङ्ग॑मभि॒धित्स॑ते ॥ (३०)

पति यदि वधू के वस्त्र से अपना शरीर ढकना चाहता है तो पति का तेजस्वी शरीर रजस्वला कृत्या के कारण श्रीहीन हो जाता है. (३०)

If the husband wants to cover his body with the bride's clothes, then the husband's bright body becomes without luster due to the mensurating act. (30)
