को वे॑द॒ जान॑मेषां॒ को वा॑ पु॒रा सु॒म्नेष्वा॑स म॒रुता॑म् । यद्यु॑यु॒ज्रे कि॑ला॒स्यः॑ ॥ (१)

इन मरुतों का जन्म कौन जानता है? मरुतों का सुख सर्वप्रथम किसने अनुभव किया? जब इन्होंने रथ में पृश्नि को जोड़ा था, तब इनकी शक्ति किसने जानी? (१)
EN English Translation
Who knows the birth of these maruts? Who first experienced the happiness of the maruts? When they added the earth to the chariot, who knew their power? (1)
ऐतान्रथे॑षु त॒स्थुषः॒ कः शु॑श्राव क॒था य॑युः । कस्मै॑ सस्रुः सु॒दासे॒ अन्वा॒पय॒ इळा॑भिर्वृ॒ष्टयः॑ स॒ह ॥ (२)

मरुतों को रथ पर बैठा हुआ किसने सुना था? इनके गमन का ढंग कौन जानता है? बंधुरूप एवं वर्षाकारक मरुद्गण अन्न लेकर किस दानशील के लिए अवतीर्ण होते हैं? (२)
EN English Translation
Who had heard the maruts sitting on the chariot? Who knows how they move? The brothers and rain-fed deserts descend to which charity with food? (2)
ते म॑ आहु॒र्य आ॑य॒युरुप॒ द्युभि॒र्विभि॒र्मदे॑ । नरो॒ मर्या॑ अरे॒पस॑ इ॒मान्पश्य॒न्निति॑ ष्टुहि ॥ (३)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
तेजस्वी घोड़ों पर सवार होकर जो मरुद्गण सोमरस का आनंद प्राप्त करने आए थे, उन्होंने मुझसे कहा कि वे नेता, मानव हितकारी एवं आसक्तिरहित हैं. हे ऋषि! इस प्रकार के मरुतों को देखकर उनकी स्तुति करो. (३)
EN English Translation
The deserters who had come on stunning horses to enjoy the Somras told me that they were leaders, human-benefactors and without attachment. O sage! Seeing these kinds of maruts, praise them. (3)
ये अ॒ञ्जिषु॒ ये वाशी॑षु॒ स्वभा॑नवः स्र॒क्षु रु॒क्मेषु॑ खा॒दिषु॑ । श्रा॒या रथे॑षु॒ धन्व॑सु ॥ (४)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे मरुतो! तुम्हारे आभरणों, आयुधों, मालाओं, सीने पर पहने जाने वाले गहनों, हाथ- पैरों एवं उन में पहने जाने वाले कंकणों, रथों एवं धनुषों में जो बल आश्रित है, उसकी हम स्तुति करते हैं. (४)
EN English Translation
O Maruto! We praise the strength that is dependent on your fillers, weapons, garlands, chest ornaments, hands and feet, and the thorns, chariots and bows that are worn in them. (4)
यु॒ष्माकं॑ स्मा॒ रथा॒ँ अनु॑ मु॒दे द॑धे मरुतो जीरदानवः । वृ॒ष्टी द्यावो॑ य॒तीरि॑व ॥ (५)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे शीघ्र दान करने वाले मरुतो! वर्षा के निमित्त सभी जगह जाने वाली दीप्ति के समान तुम्हारे रथ को देखकर हम प्रमुदित होते हैं. (५)
EN English Translation
O you who give soon, Maruto! We are delighted to see your chariot like a radiant going everywhere for the rain. (5)
आ यं नरः॑ सु॒दान॑वो ददा॒शुषे॑ दि॒वः कोश॒मचु॑च्यवुः । वि प॒र्जन्यं॑ सृजन्ति॒ रोद॑सी॒ अनु॒ धन्व॑ना यन्ति वृ॒ष्टयः॑ ॥ (६)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
नेता एवं शोभन दान वाले मरुद्गण हवि देने वाले यजमान के कल्याण के लिए आकाश से बादल को बरसाते हैं. वे धरती एवं आकाश के कल्याण के लिए बादल को छोड़ते हैं. वर्षा करने वाले मरुत् सभी जगह जाने वाले जल के साथ गमन करते हैं. (६)
EN English Translation
The leaders and the deserts of shobhan daan rain the clouds from the sky for the welfare of the host who gives the havi. They leave the cloud for the welfare of the earth and the sky. Rainy deserts travel with water that goes all over the place. (6)
त॒तृ॒दा॒नाः सिन्ध॑वः॒ क्षोद॑सा॒ रजः॒ प्र स॑स्रुर्धे॒नवो॑ यथा । स्य॒न्ना अश्वा॑ इ॒वाध्व॑नो वि॒मोच॑ने॒ वि यद्वर्त॑न्त ए॒न्यः॑ ॥ (७)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
भेदन किए गए बादल से निकली हुई जल-धाराएं वेग के साथ आकाश में इस प्रकार गमन करती हैं, जिस प्रकार दुधारू गाय दूध देती है. शीघ्रगामी अश्व जिस प्रकार मार्गो पर चलते हैं, उसी प्रकार नदियां तेजी से बहती हैं. (७)
EN English Translation
The streams of water coming out of the penetrated cloud move into the sky with velocity in the same way that the milch cow gives milk. Just as the fast-moving horses walk on the routes, so the rivers flow fast. (7)
आ या॑त मरुतो दि॒व आन्तरि॑क्षाद॒मादु॒त । माव॑ स्थात परा॒वतः॑ ॥ (८)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे मरुतो! तुम अंतरिक्ष, स्वर्ग अथवा इहलोक से यहां आओ. तुम दूरवर्ती स्थान में मत रहो. (८)
EN English Translation
O Maruto! You come here from space, heaven or ihlok. Don't stay in a remote place. (8)
मा वो॑ र॒सानि॑तभा॒ कुभा॒ क्रुमु॒र्मा वः॒ सिन्धु॒र्नि री॑रमत् । मा वः॒ परि॑ ष्ठात्स॒रयुः॑ पुरी॒षिण्य॒स्मे इत्सु॒म्नम॑स्तु वः ॥ (९)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे मरुतो! रसा, अनितभा एवं कुभा नाम की नदियां एवं सभी जगह जाने वाली सिंधु तुम्हें न रोके. जलपूर्ण सरयू नदी तुम्हें न रोके. तुम्हारे आने का सुख हमें प्राप्त हो. (९)
EN English Translation
O Maruto! The rivers named Rasa, Anitbha and Kubha and the Indus that go all over the place should not stop you. Let the watery Saryu river stop you. May we have the joy of your coming. (9)
तं वः॒ शर्धं॒ रथा॑नां त्वे॒षं ग॒णं मारु॑तं॒ नव्य॑सीनाम् । अनु॒ प्र य॑न्ति वृ॒ष्टयः॑ ॥ (१०)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे मरुतो! तुम्हारे नवीन रथों के वेग एवं दीप्ति की हम प्रशंसा करते हैं. वर्षा मरुतों के पीछे-पीछे चलती है. (१०)
EN English Translation
O Maruto! We admire the speed and brightness of your new chariots. The rain follows the maruts. (10)
शर्धं॑शर्धं व एषां॒ व्रातं॑व्रातं ग॒णंग॑णं सुश॒स्तिभिः॑ । अनु॑ क्रामेम धी॒तिभिः॑ ॥ (११)

हे मरुतो! हम सुंदर स्तुतियों एवं हव्य देने आदि कर्मो द्वारा तुम्हारे बलों, समूहों एवं गणों के पीछे चलते हैं. (११)
EN English Translation
O Maruto! We follow your forces, groups and clans through beautiful praises and giving greetings, etc. (11)
कस्मा॑ अ॒द्य सुजा॑ताय रा॒तह॑व्याय॒ प्र य॑युः । ए॒ना यामे॑न म॒रुतः॑ ॥ (१२)

मरुद्गण आज किस उत्तम हवि देने वाले यजमान के पास अपने रथ द्वारा जाएंगे? (१२)
EN English Translation
The deserts will go to which of the best-giving hosts today by their chariot? (12)
येन॑ तो॒काय॒ तन॑याय धा॒न्यं१॒॑ बीजं॒ वह॑ध्वे॒ अक्षि॑तम् । अ॒स्मभ्यं॒ तद्ध॑त्तन॒ यद्व॒ ईम॑हे॒ राधो॑ वि॒श्वायु॒ सौभ॑गम् ॥ (१३)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे मरुतो! तुम जिस कृपालु मन से हमारे पुत्र-पौत्रों के लिए नष्ट न होने वाले अन्नों के बीज देते हो, उसी मन से हमें भी अन्नों के बीज दो. हम तुमसे पूर्ण आयु एवं सौभाग्ययुक्त धन मांगते हैं. (१३)
EN English Translation
O Maruto! With the kind heart with which you give the seeds of unsustainable food grains for our sons and grandsons, give us the seeds of food with the same heart. We ask you for full age and lucky money. (13)
अती॑याम नि॒दस्ति॒रः स्व॒स्तिभि॑र्हि॒त्वाव॒द्यमरा॑तीः । वृ॒ष्ट्वी शं योराप॑ उ॒स्रि भे॑ष॒जं स्याम॑ मरुतः स॒ह ॥ (१४)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे मरुतो! हम कल्याणों द्वारा पाप को त्यागकर निंदक-शत्रुओं पर विजय प्राप्त करें. तुम्हारे द्वारा की गई वर्षा से हम सुख, पापों का नाश, जल, गायां एवं ओषधियों को पावें. (१४)
EN English Translation
O Maruto! Let us give up sin through welfare and conquer cynic enemies. With the rain done by you, we should get happiness, destruction of sins, water, songs and medicines. (14)
सु॒दे॒वः स॑महासति सु॒वीरो॑ नरो मरुतः॒ स मर्त्यः॑ । यं त्राय॑ध्वे॒ स्याम॒ ते ॥ (१५)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे पूजित एवं नेता मरुतो! तुम जिस मनुष्य की रक्षा करते हो, वह अन्य देवों का कृपापात्र एवं उत्तम पुत्र-पौत्रों वाला बनता है. हम तुम्हारे सेवक इसी प्रकार बनें. (१५)
EN English Translation
O god and leader Maruto! The man you protect becomes the grace of other gods and the best of sons and grandsons. Let us be your servants in this way. (15)
स्तु॒हि भो॒जान्स्तु॑व॒तो अ॑स्य॒ याम॑नि॒ रण॒न्गावो॒ न यव॑से । य॒तः पूर्वा॑ँ इव॒ सखी॒ँरनु॑ ह्वय गि॒रा गृ॑णीहि का॒मिनः॑ ॥ (१६)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे ऋषि! स्तुति करने वाले इस यजमान के यज्ञ में तुम फल देने वाले मरुतों की स्तुति करो. गाएं जैसे घास चरने के लिए चलती हुई प्रसन्न होती हैं, उसी प्रकार मरुत् प्रसन्न हों. तेज चलने वाले मरुतों को पुराने मित्र के समान बुलाओ एवं स्तुति की अभिलाषा करने वाले मरुतों की वचनों से स्तुति करो. (१६)
EN English Translation
O sage! In the yajna of this psalmist, praise the priests who give fruit. Sing just as the grass is happy to move to graze, so be the divinely happy. Call the fast-moving maruts like old friends and praise the maruts who desire praise with the words. (16)
