अ॒स्मा उ॒षास॒ आति॑रन्त॒ याम॒मिन्द्रा॑य॒ नक्त॒मूर्म्याः॑ सु॒वाचः॑ । अ॒स्मा आपो॑ मा॒तरः॑ स॒प्त त॑स्थु॒र्नृभ्य॒स्तरा॑य॒ सिन्ध॑वः सुपा॒राः ॥ (१)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
इंद्र से डरी हुई उषाएं अपनी गति बढ़ाती रहती हैं. इंद्र के कारण ही सब रात्रियां निशांत में शोभनवाक्यों वाली बनती हैं. इंद्र के कारण ही सात नदियां मानव हितकारिणी एवं सरलता से पार होने योग्य रहती हैं. (१)
EN English Translation
Usha, who is afraid of Indra, keeps increasing their speed. It is because of Indra that all the nights become adorned in Nishant. It is because of Indra that the seven rivers are able to cross with human benefit and ease. (1)
अति॑विद्धा विथु॒रेणा॑ चि॒दस्त्रा॒ त्रिः स॒प्त सानु॒ संहि॑ता गिरी॒णाम् । न तद्दे॒वो न मर्त्य॑स्तुतुर्या॒द्यानि॒ प्रवृ॑द्धो वृष॒भश्च॒कार॑ ॥ (२)

इंद्र ने बिना किसी की सहायता से अपने वज्र द्वारा इक्कीस पर्वतशुंगों को तोड़ा था. अभिलाषापूरक इंद्र ने जो काम किए हैं, उन्हें न देव कर सकते हैं और न मानव. (२)
EN English Translation
Indra had broken twenty-one mountain peaks by his thunderbolt without anyone's help. Neither God nor human beings can do the work that Indra has done. (2)
इन्द्र॑स्य॒ वज्र॑ आय॒सो निमि॑श्ल॒ इन्द्र॑स्य बा॒ह्वोर्भूयि॑ष्ठ॒मोजः॑ । शी॒र्षन्निन्द्र॑स्य॒ क्रत॑वो निरे॒क आ॒सन्नेष॑न्त॒ श्रुत्या॑ उपा॒के ॥ (३)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
इंद्र का वज्र उनके हाथ में दृढ़तापूर्वक पकड़ा गया है और उनकी भुजाओं में अधिक शक्ति है. युद्ध के लिए चलते समय इंद्र के सिर पर टोप आदि होते हैं एवं उनका आदेश सुनने के लिए लोग समीप पहुंचते हैं. (३)
EN English Translation
Indra's thunderbolt is firmly held in his hand and there is more power in his arms. While walking for war, Indra has caps etc. on his head and people come close to listen to his order. (3)
मन्ये॑ त्वा य॒ज्ञियं॑ य॒ज्ञिया॑नां॒ मन्ये॑ त्वा॒ च्यव॑न॒मच्यु॑तानाम् । मन्ये॑ त्वा॒ सत्व॑नामिन्द्र के॒तुं मन्ये॑ त्वा वृष॒भं च॑र्षणी॒नाम् ॥ (४)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे इंद्र! मैं तुम्हें यज्ञ योग्य व्यक्तियों में सबसे श्रेष्ठ समझता हूं. मैं तुम्हें दृढ़ पर्वतों को तोड़ने वाला मानता हूं. मैं तुम्हें सेनाओं का ध्वज मानता हूं. मैं तुम्हें प्रजाओं की अभिलाषाएं पूरी करने वाला मानता हूं. (४)
EN English Translation
O Indra! I consider you to be the best of the sacrificial persons. I consider you to be the one who breaks the fortified mountains. I consider you to be the flag of armies. I consider you to be the one who fulfills the wishes of the people. (4)
आ यद्वज्रं॑ बा॒ह्वोरि॑न्द्र॒ धत्से॑ मद॒च्युत॒मह॑ये॒ हन्त॒वा उ॑ । प्र पर्व॑ता॒ अन॑वन्त॒ प्र गावः॒ प्र ब्र॒ह्माणो॑ अभि॒नक्ष॑न्त॒ इन्द्र॑म् ॥ (५)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे इंद्र! जिस समय तुम अपनी भुजाओं में श्रु का गर्व नष्ट करने वाला तथा मेघ को मारने वाला वज्र धारण करते हो एवं जिस समय मेघ एवं उन में भरा हुआ जल गर्जन करता है, उस समय स्तोता इंद्र के समीप जाते हुए उनकी स्तुति करते हैं. (५)
EN English Translation
O Indra! At the time when you wear a thunderbolt in your arms that destroys the pride of The Shru and kills the cloud, and at the time when the cloud and the water that is filled with them roars, the stotas go near Indra and praise him. (5)
तमु॑ ष्टवाम॒ य इ॒मा ज॒जान॒ विश्वा॑ जा॒तान्यव॑राण्यस्मात् । इन्द्रे॑ण मि॒त्रं दि॑धिषेम गी॒र्भिरुपो॒ नमो॑भिर्वृष॒भं वि॑शेम ॥ (६)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हम उस इंद्र की स्तुति करते हैं, जिसने इन सब जीवों को उत्पन्न किया है एवं सभी वस्तुएं जिनके बाद पैदा हुई हैं. हम उन्हीं इंद्र के साथ मित्रता करेंगे एवं स्तुतियों तथा नमस्कारों द्वारा अभिलाषापूरक इंद्र के सामने आएंगे. (६)
EN English Translation
We praise the Indra who created all these creatures and all the things after which they are born. We will befriend the same Indra and will come before the desire-filled Indra through praises and greetings. (6)
वृ॒त्रस्य॑ त्वा श्व॒सथा॒दीष॑माणा॒ विश्वे॑ दे॒वा अ॑जहु॒र्ये सखा॑यः । म॒रुद्भि॑रिन्द्र स॒ख्यं ते॑ अ॒स्त्वथे॒मा विश्वाः॒ पृत॑ना जयासि ॥ (७)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे इंद्र! जो विश्वेदेव तुम्हारे मित्र थे, उन्होंने वृत्र असुर की सांस से भयभीत होकर तुम्हें छोड़ दिया था. उस समय मरुतों के साथ तुम्हारी मित्रता स्थापित हुई उसके बाद तुमने सभी शत्रुसेनाओं को जीत लिया. (७)
EN English Translation
O Indra! Viswedev, who was your friend, had left you fearful of the breath of the Vrithra Asura. At that time your friendship with the Maruts was established, after that you conquered all the enemy armies. (7)
त्रिः ष॒ष्टिस्त्वा॑ म॒रुतो॑ वावृधा॒ना उ॒स्रा इ॑व रा॒शयो॑ य॒ज्ञिया॑सः । उप॒ त्वेमः॑ कृ॒धि नो॑ भाग॒धेयं॒ शुष्मं॑ त ए॒ना ह॒विषा॑ विधेम ॥ (८)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे इंद्र! तिरसठ यज्ञयोग्य मरुतों ने गायों के समान झुंड बनाकर तुम्हें बढ़ाया था. हम तुम्हारे समीप आते हैं. तुम हमें उपभोग के योग्य अन्न दो. हम अपने हव्य द्वारा तुम्हारा बल बढ़ावेंगे. (८)
EN English Translation
O Indra! Sixty-three sacrificial maruts had raised you up by forming a herd like a cow. We come close to you. You give us food worthy of consumption. We will increase your strength by our word. (8)
ति॒ग्ममायु॑धं म॒रुता॒मनी॑कं॒ कस्त॑ इन्द्र॒ प्रति॒ वज्रं॑ दधर्ष । अ॒ना॒यु॒धासो॒ असु॑रा अदे॒वाश्च॒क्रेण॒ ताँ अप॑ वप ऋजीषिन् ॥ (९)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे इंद्र! तुम्हारा आयुध तेज है और मरुतों की सेना तुम्हारे साथ है. कौन तुम्हारे वज्र के प्रतिकूल आचरण कर सकता है? हे सोम पीने वाले इंद्र! तुम अपने चक्र द्वारा आयुधहीन एवं देवद्वेषी असुरों को दूर भगाओ. (९)
EN English Translation
O Indra! Your armament is sharp and the army of the Maruts is with you. Who can act against your thunderbolt? O Som drinker Indra! You drive away the esudite and devout asuras through your chakra. (9)
म॒ह उ॒ग्राय॑ त॒वसे॑ सुवृ॒क्तिं प्रेर॑य शि॒वत॑माय प॒श्वः । गिर्वा॑हसे॒ गिर॒ इन्द्रा॑य पू॒र्वीर्धे॒हि त॒न्वे॑ कु॒विद॒ङ्ग वेद॑त् ॥ (१०)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे स्तोता! मुझे पशु प्रदान करने के लिए महान्, शक्तिशाली, उन्नत एवं परम कल्याणकारी इंद्र की शोभन स्तुति करो. स्तुति के योग्य इंद्र के लिए तुम बहुत सी स्तुतियां करो. इंद्र हमारे पुत्रों के लिए बहुत धन दें. (१०)
EN English Translation
This is the hymn! Praise the great, powerful, advanced and supremely beneficial Indra for giving me the animal. You do many praises for Indra worthy of praise. Indra give a lot of money for our sons. (10)
उ॒क्थवा॑हसे वि॒भ्वे॑ मनी॒षां द्रुणा॒ न पा॒रमी॑रया न॒दीना॑म् । नि स्पृ॑श धि॒या त॒न्वि॑ श्रु॒तस्य॒ जुष्ट॑तरस्य कु॒विद॒ङ्ग वेद॑त् ॥ (११)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे स्तोता! जिस प्रकार नाविक नाव द्वारा यात्रियों को पार पहुंचाता है, उसी प्रकार तुम मंत्रं द्वारा प्राप्त होने योग्य एवं महान् इंद्र के पास स्तुतियां भेजो. अपनी स्तुति द्वारा प्रसिद्ध एवं अतिशय प्रसन्नतादायक इंद्र को हमारे पास पहुंचाओ. इंद्र हमारी संतान के लिए बहुत धन दे. (११)
EN English Translation
This is the hymn! Just as the sailor crosses the passengers by boat, so you send praises to the great Indra, which is worthy of being received by mantras. Bring to us the famous and most delightful Indra by your praise. Indra gives a lot of money to our children. (11)
तद्वि॑विड्ढि॒ यत्त॒ इन्द्रो॒ जुजो॑षत्स्तु॒हि सु॑ष्टु॒तिं नम॒सा वि॑वास । उप॑ भूष जरित॒र्मा रु॑वण्यः श्रा॒वया॒ वाचं॑ कु॒विद॒ङ्ग वेद॑त् ॥ (१२)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे ऋत्विज्! इंद्र जो चाहते हैं, तुम वही करो. हे स्तोता! शोभन स्तुति करने वाले इंद्र की स्तुति करो एवं नमस्कार द्वारा उनकी सेवा करो. तुम अपने को अलंकृत करो. रोओ मत. इंद्र को अपना स्तुतिवचन सुनाओ. इंद्र तुम्हें बहुत धन दे. (१२)
EN English Translation
Hey, Ritwiz! Indra does what you want. This is the hymn! Praise Indra, who praises Shobhan, and serve him with a salutation. You embellish yourself. Do not cry. Recite your praises to Indra. Indra give you a lot of money. (12)
अव॑ द्र॒प्सो अं॑शु॒मती॑मतिष्ठदिया॒नः कृ॒ष्णो द॒शभिः॑ स॒हस्रैः॑ । आव॒त्तमिन्द्रः॒ शच्या॒ धम॑न्त॒मप॒ स्नेहि॑तीर्नृ॒मणा॑ अधत्त ॥ (१३)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
शीघ्रगति वाला एवं दस हजार सेनाओं को साथ लेकर चलने वाला कृष्ण नामक असुर अंशुमती नदी के किनारे रहता था. इंद्र ने उस चिल्लाने वाले असुर को अपनी बुद्धि से खोजा एवं मानव-हित के लिए उसकी वधकारिणी सेनाओं का नाश किया. (१३)
EN English Translation
The asura named Krishna, who was quick and carrying ten thousand armies with him, lived on the banks of the River Anshumati. Indra discovered that screaming asura with his wisdom and destroyed his slaughtering armies for the benefit of human beings. (13)
द्र॒प्सम॑पश्यं॒ विषु॑णे॒ चर॑न्तमुपह्व॒रे न॒द्यो॑ अंशु॒मत्याः॑ । नभो॒ न कृ॒ष्णम॑वतस्थि॒वांस॒मिष्या॑मि वो वृषणो॒ युध्य॑ता॒जौ ॥ (१४)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
इंद्र ने कहा-“मैंने अंशुमती नदी के किनारे गुफा में घूमने वाले कृष्ण असुर को देखा है. वह दीप्तिशाली सूर्य के समान जल में स्थित है. हे अभिलाषापूरक मरुतो! मैं युद्ध के लिए तुम्हें चाहता हूं. तुम युद्ध में उसे मारो.” (१४)
EN English Translation
Indra said, "I have seen Krishna Asura roaming in the cave on the banks of the River Anshumati. It is located in the same water as the bright sun. This wish-filled Maruto! I want you for war. You kill him in the war." (14)
अध द्रप्सो अंशुमत्या उपस्थेऽधारयत्तन्वं तित्विषाणः. विशो अदेवीरभ्या३ चरन्तीर्बृहस्पतिना युजेन्द्रः ससाहे.. (१५)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
तेज चलने वाला कृष्ण असुर अंशुमती नदी के किनारे दीप्तिशाली बनकर रहता था। इंद्र ने बृहस्पति की सहायता से काली एवं आक्रमण हेतु आती हुई सेनाओं का वध किया. (१५)
EN English Translation
The fast-moving Krishna Asura lived as radiant on the banks of the Anshumati river. Indra, with the help of Jupiter, killed Kali and the invading armies. (15)
त्वं ह॒ त्यत्स॒प्तभ्यो॒ जाय॑मानोऽश॒त्रुभ्यो॑ अभवः॒ शत्रु॑रिन्द्र । गू॒ळ्हे द्यावा॑पृथि॒वी अन्व॑विन्दो विभु॒मद्भ्यो॒ भुव॑नेभ्यो॒ रणं॑ धाः ॥ (१६)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे इंद्र! वह कार्य तुम्हीं ने किया था. तुम्हीं जन्म लेकर सात शन्रुओं को नष्ट करने वाले बने थे. तुमने अंधकारपूर्ण द्यावा-पृथिवी को प्राप्त किया था. तुमने महान् भवनों के लिए आनंद दिया था. (१६)
EN English Translation
O Indra! That's what you did. You were born to destroy the seven Shanrus. You had received the dark dyava-prithvi. You had fun for the great buildings. (16)
त्वं ह॒ त्यद॑प्रतिमा॒नमोजो॒ वज्रे॑ण वज्रिन्धृषि॒तो ज॑घन्थ । त्वं शुष्ण॒स्यावा॑तिरो॒ वध॑त्रै॒स्त्वं गा इ॑न्द्र॒ शच्येद॑विन्दः ॥ (१७)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे वज्रधारी इंद्र! तुमने वह कार्य किया है. तुमने अद्वितीय योद्धा बनकर अपने वज्र से शुष्ण का बल न्ट किया था. तुमने अपने आयुधों से राजर्षि कुत्स के कल्याण के लिए कृष्ण असुर को नीचे की ओर मुंह करके मारा था तथा अपनी शक्ति से शत्रुओं की गाएं प्राप्त की थीं. (१७)
EN English Translation
O thunderbolt Indra! You've done that work. You became a unique warrior and had the force of shushna with your thunderbolt. You had killed Krishna Asura with your weapons facing downwards for the welfare of Rajarshi Kuts and got the songs of enemies with your power. (17)
त्वं ह॒ त्यद्वृ॑षभ चर्षणी॒नां घ॒नो वृ॒त्राणां॑ तवि॒षो ब॑भूथ । त्वं सिन्धू॑ँरसृजस्तस्तभा॒नान्त्वम॒पो अ॑जयो दा॒सप॑त्नीः ॥ (१८)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे इंद्र! तुमने वह कार्य किया है. हे अभिलाषापूरक इंद्र! तुम मनुष्यों के भावी उपद्रवो को नष्ट करने वाले हो. तुम शक्तिशाली हुए थे. तुमने रुकी हुई नदियों को बहाया था एवं दास द्वारा अधिकार में किए गए जल को जीता था. (१८)
EN English Translation
O Indra! You've done that work. Oh, this desireful Indra! You are going to destroy the future disturbances of men. You were powerful. You swept away the stalled rivers and won the water possessed by the enemy. (18)
स सु॒क्रतू॒ रणि॑ता॒ यः सु॒तेष्वनु॑त्तमन्यु॒र्यो अहे॑व रे॒वान् । य एक॒ इन्नर्यपां॑सि॒ कर्ता॒ स वृ॑त्र॒हा प्रतीद॒न्यमा॑हुः ॥ (१९)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
इंद्र शोभन बुद्धि वाले, निचोड़े हुए सोम से प्रसन्न होने वाले शत्रुओं द्वारा अविनकष्ट क्रोध वाले, दिन के समान धनयुक्त, बिना किसी की सहायता से मानवहितकारी कर्म करने वाले, शत्रुनाशक एवं शन्रुसमूह के विरोधी हैं. (१९)
EN English Translation
Indra is a man of good intellect, with unconfirmed anger by enemies who are happy with the squeezed soma, rich as day, doing human-beneficial deeds without the help of anyone, enemies and enemies of the shanru group. (19)
स वृ॑त्र॒हेन्द्र॑श्चर्षणी॒धृत्तं सु॑ष्टु॒त्या हव्यं॑ हुवेम । स प्रा॑वि॒ता म॒घवा॑ नोऽधिव॒क्ता स वाज॑स्य श्रव॒स्य॑स्य दा॒ता ॥ (२०)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हम शत्रुहंता, मानवपोषक एवं बुलाने योग्य इंद्र को अपनी शोभन स्तुति द्वारा बुलाते हैं. इंद्र हमारे विशेष रक्षक, धनस्वामी, हमारे प्रति सम्मानपूर्वक बोलने वाले एवं अन्न व कीर्ति चाहने वाले हैं. (२०)
EN English Translation
We call the enemy, the anthropotrophic and the summoning Indra through our adornment praise. Indra is our special protector, a wealthy protector, a respectful speaker of us and a seeker of food and fame. (20)
स वृ॑त्र॒हेन्द्र॑ ऋभु॒क्षाः स॒द्यो ज॑ज्ञा॒नो हव्यो॑ बभूव । कृ॒ण्वन्नपां॑सि॒ नर्या॑ पु॒रूणि॒ सोमो॒ न पी॒तो हव्यः॒ सखि॑भ्यः ॥ (२१)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
वे वृत्रहंता एवं महान् इंद्र जन्म लेने के तुंरत बाद बुलाने योग्य हो गए थे. इंद्र बहुत से मानव हितसाधक कार्य करते हुए पिए हुए सोम के समान मित्रों द्वारा बुलाने योग्य बने थे. (२१)
EN English Translation
They became summoned immediately after the birth of Vrithrahanta and the great Indra. Indra was able to be called by friends like The Drunk Mon while doing many human-benefactors. (21)
