अ॒स्य वा॒मस्य॑ पलि॒तस्य॒ होतु॒स्तस्य॒ भ्राता॑ मध्य॒मो अ॒स्त्यश्नः॑ । तृ॒तीयो॒ भ्राता॑ घृ॒तपृ॑ष्ठो अ॒स्यात्रा॑पश्यं वि॒श्पतिं॑ स॒प्तपु॑त्रम् ॥ (१)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
आह्वान करने योग्य सूर्य स्तुति कर्ता का पालन करते हैं. उन सूर्य के मध्यम भ्राता वायु देव हैं जो आकाश में जल ले जाते हैं. इन सूर्य देव के तीसरे भ्राता अग्नि हैं. इस प्रकार मैं सूर्य को ही प्रमुख एवं आश्चर्यजनक समझता हूं. (१)
EN English Translation
Invoke the Sun follows the praiser. The middle brother of those suns is the air god who carries water in the sky. Agni is the third brother of sun god. In this way, I consider the sun to be the main and surprising. (1)
स॒प्त यु॑ञ्जन्ति॒ रथ॒मेक॑चक्र॒मेको॒ अश्वो॑ वहति स॒प्तना॑मा । त्रि॒नाभि॑ च॒क्रम॒जर॑मन॒र्वं यत्रे॒मा विश्वा॒ भुव॒नाधि॑ त॒स्थुः ॥ (२)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
सूर्य॒ के एक पहिए वाले रथ में सात किरणें जुड़ जाती हैं जो सरकने वाली हैं एवं अन्य ज्योतियों को पराजित करने वाली हैं. सात ऋषियों द्वारा नमस्कार करने योग्य उन सूर्य के रथ को एक घोड़ा खींचता है. सूर्य के रथ के पहिए में ग्रीष्म, वर्षा एवं शीत ऋतु रूपी तीन नाभियां हैं. यह जर्जर न होने वाला पहिया सदैव घूमता रहता है. सूर्य के द्वारा कालनिर्धारण में ही समस्त विश्व आश्रित है. EN English Translation
In the one-wheeled chariot of the sun, seven rays are added which are sliding and defeating other lights. A horse pulls the chariot of those suns worthy of being greeted by the seven sages. The wheel of the sun's chariot has three navels in the form of summer, rain and winter season. This non-shabby wheel always rotates. The whole world is dependent on the determination of the sun. (2)
इ॒मं रथ॒मधि॒ ये स॒प्त त॒स्थुः स॒प्तच॑क्रं स॒प्त व॑ह॒न्त्यश्वाः॑ । स॒प्त स्वसा॑रो अ॒भि सं न॑वन्त॒ यत्र॒ गवां॒ निहि॑ता स॒प्त नामा॑ ॥ (३)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
सूर्य के सात पहियों वाले रथ को सात घोड़े खींचते हैं. सात ऋषि इस रथ के समीप खड़े रहते हैं. सात बहनें सूर्य की स्तुति करती हैं. किरणों रूपी सात गाएं सूर्य के रथ से संबंधित हैं, जो इसे रस युक्त बनाती हैं. (३)
EN English Translation
Seven horses pull the chariot with seven wheels of the sun. Seven sages stand near this chariot. Seven sisters praise the sun. The seven songs of rays are related to the chariot of the sun, which makes it juice-rich. (3)
को द॑दर्श प्रथ॒मं जाय॑मानमस्थ॒न्वन्तं॒ यद॑न॒स्था बिभ॑र्ति । भूम्या॒ असु॒रसृ॑गा॒त्मा क्व स्वि॒त्को वि॒द्वांस॒मुप॑ गा॒त्प्रष्टु॑मे॒तत् ॥ (४)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
सर्वप्रथम उत्पन्न होने वाले अस्थिरहित को किस ने देखा था जो समस्त विश्व को धारण करता है? भूमि को प्राणवंत करने वाले जल की आत्मा कहां स्थित है? इस बात को पूछने के लिए विद्वान् के समीप कौन गया था? (४)
EN English Translation
Who first saw the unstable interest that arises that holds the whole world? Where is the soul of the water that nourishes the land located? Who went near the scholar to ask this? (4)
इ॒ह ब्र॑वीतु॒ य ई॑म॒ङ्ग वेदा॒स्य वा॒मस्य॒ निहि॑तं प॒दं वेः । शी॒र्ष्णः क्षी॒रं दु॑ह्रते॒ गावो॑ अस्य व॒व्रिं वसा॑ना उद॒कं प॒दाऽपुः॑ ॥ (५)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
इन सूर्य के विषय में जो जानता हो, वह बताए कि इन के चरण आकाश में कहां स्थित हैं? गाएं इन्हीं सूर्य के मंडल में दूध दुहाती हैं तथा वे गाएं इन्हीं सूर्य की किरणों के द्वारा जल पीती हैं. (५)
EN English Translation
Whoever knows about these suns, tell us where their feet are located in the sky. Cows milk in the sun's circle and those cows drink water through the rays of these suns. (5)
पाकः॑ पृच्छामि॒ मन॒साऽवि॑जानन्दे॒वाना॑मे॒ना निहि॑ता प॒दानि॑ । व॒त्से ब॒ष्कयेऽधि॑ स॒प्त तन्तू॒न्वि त॑त्निरे क॒वय॒ ओत॒वा उ॑ ॥ (६)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
सूर्य के रूप को पूर्ण रूप से न जानता हुआ मैं अपने मन से पूछता हूं कि समस्त देवों के रक्षासाधन इन सूर्य में ही निहित हैं. विद्वानों ने सूर्य देव के विस्तार के हेतु सात तंतु स्थापित कर दिए हैं. (६)
EN English Translation
Not fully aware of the form of the sun, I ask my mind that the defense of all the gods is contained in this sun. Scholars have established seven fibers for the expansion of the Sun God. (6)
अचि॑कित्वांश्चिकि॒तुष॑श्चि॒दत्र॑ क॒वीन्पृ॑च्छामि वि॒द्वनो॒ न वि॒द्वान् । वि यस्त॒स्तम्भ॒ षडि॒मा रजां॑स्य॒जस्य॑ रू॒पे किमपि॑ स्वि॒देक॑म् ॥ (७)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
अज्ञानी मैं विद्वानों और ज्ञानियों से पूछता हूं कि जिस ने छः रजोगुणी तत्त्वों को स्तंभित किया है, वह अजन्मा क्या एक ही है? मैं संदेह में पड़ा हूं. और संदेहरहित जनों से अपना संदेह निवारण करना चाहता हूं. (७)
EN English Translation
Ignorant I ask scholars and the wise, is the unborn the one who has pillared the six rajoguni elements the same? I am in doubt. And I want to remove my doubts from those without doubt. (7)
मा॒ता पि॒तर॑मृ॒त आ ब॑भाज धी॒त्यग्रे॒ मन॑सा॒ सं हि ज॒ग्मे । सा बी॑भ॒त्सुर्गर्भ॑रसा॒ निवि॑द्धा॒ नम॑स्वन्त॒ इदु॑पवा॒कमी॑युः ॥ (८)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
सूर्य के जन्म लेते समय ही उन की माता उन के पिता की सेवा करती है. इस के फल स्वरूप वह बुद्धि और मन से युक्त हो जाती है एवं गर्भरूपी रस से निबद्ध हो जाती है. हवि का अन्न लिए हुए मनुष्य इस कथा के समीप पहुंच जाते हैं. (८)
EN English Translation
At the time of the birth of the sun, his mother serves his father. As a result of this, she becomes full of intelligence and mind and is bound by the juice of the womb. People carrying Havi's food approach this story. (8)
यु॒क्ता मा॒तासी॑द्धु॒रि दक्षि॑णाया॒ अति॑ष्ठ॒द्गर्भो॑ वृज॒नीष्व॒न्तः । अमी॑मेद्व॒त्सो अनु॒ गाम॑पश्यद्विश्वरू॒प्यं त्रि॒षु योज॑नेषु ॥ (९)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
माता दक्षिण दिशा में स्थित हुई. इस के पश्चात बलवती नारियों में गर्भ स्थापित हुआ. जन्म लेने के पश्चात बछड़ा गाय की ओर देखता हुआ रंभाने लगा. विश्वरूप तीन योजनों में व्याप्त हुआ. (९)
EN English Translation
Mother was located in the south direction. After this, the womb was established in balvati women. After being born, the calf started looking at the cow. Vishwaroop pervaded three schemes. (9)
ति॒स्रो म॒तॄस्त्रीन्पि॒तॄन्बिभ्र॒देक॑ उ॒र्ध्वस्त॑स्थौ॒ नेमव॑ ग्लापयन्त । म॒न्त्रय॑न्ते दि॒वो अ॒मुष्य॑ पृ॒ष्ठे वि॑श्व॒विदो॒ वाच॒मवि॑श्वविन्नाम् ॥ (१०)

तीन माताओं और तीन पिताओं को धारण करता हुआ सूर्य इन के मध्य में स्थित है. विश्व का ज्ञान रखने वाले आकाश के पृष्ठ पर यही वाणी बोलते हैं, जिसे दूसरे लोग नहीं सुन पाते. (१०)
EN English Translation
The sun is located in the middle of them holding three mothers and three fathers. Those who have knowledge of the world speak this voice on the surface of the sky, which other people cannot hear. (10)
पञ्चा॑रे च॒क्रे प॑रि॒वर्त॑माने॒ यस्मि॑न्नात॒स्थुर्भुव॑नानि॒ विश्वा॑ । तस्य॒ नाक्ष॑स्तप्यते॒ भूरि॑भारः स॒नादे॒व न च्छि॑द्यते॒ सना॑भिः ॥ (११)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
पांच अरों वाला पहिया चलता है. उस में समस्त भुवन स्थित हैं. उस के अधिक भार को सहने वाली धुरी स्वयं स्थापित नहीं होती. वह धुरी रूपी नाभि पुरानी होने पर टूटती नहीं है. (११)
EN English Translation
A wheel with five arms moves. All bhuvans are located in it. The axis that bears more load is not established on its own. That axis navel does not break when it is old. (11)
पञ्च॑पादं पि॒तरं॒ द्वाद॑शाकृतिं दि॒व आ॑हुः॒ परे॒ अर्धे॑ पुरी॒षिण॑म् । अथे॒मे अ॒न्य उप॑रे विचक्ष॒णे स॒प्तच॑क्रे॒ षड॑र आहु॒रर्पि॑तम् ॥ (१२)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
बारह आकृतियों अर्थात् बारह मासों और पांच चरणों अर्थात् ऋतुओं वाले पिता अर्थात् सूर्य को स्वर्ग के ऊपरी भाग में सोने वाला कहा गया है. अन्य चतुर जन इस में सात पहियों और छः अरों को स्थित बताते हैं. (१२)
EN English Translation
The father with twelve shapes i.e. twelve months and five phases i.e. seasons i.e. sun is said to be sleeping in the upper part of heaven. Other clever people say that seven wheels and six arrows are located in it. (12)
द्वाद॑शारं न॒हि तज्जरा॑य॒ वर्व॑र्ति च॒क्रं परि॒ द्यामृ॒तस्य॑ । आ पु॒त्रा अ॑ग्ने मिथु॒नासो॒ अत्र॑ स॒प्त श॒तानि॑ विंश॒तिश्च॑ तस्थुः ॥ (१३)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
बारह अरों वाला पहिया अर्थात् सूर्य स्वयं गति करता हुआ भी जीर्ण नहीं होता है. हे अग्नि! सात सौ बीस युगल अर्थात् तीन सौ साठ दिन और रात के जोड़े उस के पुत्र रूप में स्थित हैं. (१३)
EN English Translation
The wheel with twelve arrows i.e. the sun itself does not become dilapidated even while moving. O agni! Seven hundred and twenty couples i.e. three hundred and sixty days and night pairs are located as his sons. (13)
सने॑मि च॒क्रम॒जरं॒ वि वा॑वृत उत्ता॒नायां॒ दश॑ यु॒क्ता व॑हन्ति । सूर्य॑स्य॒ चक्षू॒ रज॑सै॒त्यावृ॑तं॒ यस्मि॑न्नात॒स्थुर्भुव॑नानि॒ विश्वा॑ ॥ (१४)

कभी प्राचीन न होने वाला बारह मासों रूपी अरों से युक्त सूर्य रूपी पहिया सदैव चलता रहता है. दस घोड़े उस पहिए को आगे बढ़ाते हैं. सूर्य के नेत्र अंधकार से ढके होते हैं. उसी में समस्त विश्व स्थित रहता है. (१४)
EN English Translation
The sun-like wheel with twelve months of age, which is never ancient, always moves. Ten horses move that wheel forward. The eyes of the sun are covered with darkness. In him the whole world is located. (14)
स्त्रियः॑ स॒तीस्ताँ उ॑ मे पुं॒सः आ॑हुः॒ पश्य॑दक्ष॒ण्वान्न वि चे॑तद॒न्धः । क॒विर्यः पु॒त्रः स ई॒मा चि॑केत॒ यस्ता वि॑जा॒नात्स पि॒तुष्पि॒तास॑त् ॥ (१५)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
सभी स्त्रियां उसी को ज्ञानी पुरुष कहती हैं, जो उन्हें क्षयहीन प्रतीत होता है. इस के विपरीत दशा वाले पुरुष को वे ज्ञान शून्य समझती हैं. जो विद्धान् पुत्र इस बात को जानता है, वह पालकों का भी पालन करता है. (१५)
EN English Translation
All women call him a wise man, who seems to them to be decayless. They consider a man with the opposite condition to be zero in knowledge. The learned son who knows this also follows the guardians. (15)
सा॑कं॒जानां॑ स॒प्तथ॑माहुरेक॒जं षडिद्य॒मा ऋष॑यो देव॒जा इति॑ । तेषा॑मि॒ष्टानि॒ विहि॑तानि धाम॒श स्था॒त्रे रे॑जन्ते॒ विकृ॑तानि रूप॒शः ॥ (१६)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
देवों के साथ उत्पन्न ऋषि छः बताए गए हैं. ऋषि और देव बताते हैं कि यह छ: एक से ही उत्पन्न हुए हैं. इस के मनचाहे स्थान निश्चित हैं. ये अनेक प्रकार से विराजमान होते हैं. (१६)
EN English Translation
The sages born with the gods are described as six. Rishi and Dev say that these six originated from one. The desired location of this is certain. They sit in many ways. (16)
अ॒वः परे॑ण प॒र ए॒नाव॑रेण प॒दा व॒त्सं बिभ्र॑ती॒ गौरुद॑स्थात् । सा क॒द्रीची॒ कं स्वि॒दर्धं॒ परा॑गा॒त्क्व स्वित्सूते न॒हि यू॒थे अ॒स्मिन् ॥ (१७)

धवल वर्ण की गौ अगले पैर से अन्न को तथा पिछले पैर से अपने बछड़े को धारण करती हुई उड़ती है. वह किसी आधे भाग में गई थी. वह इस झुंड में बच्चा नहीं देती. (१७)
EN English Translation
The cow of dhaval varna flies with the next foot holding the food and the back foot holding its calf. She went to one half. She does not give a child in this herd. (17)
अ॒वः परे॑ण पि॒तरं॒ यो अ॑स्य॒ वेदा॒वः परे॑ण प॒र ए॒नाव॑रेण । क॑वी॒यमा॑नः॒ क इ॒ह प्र वो॑चद्दे॒वं मनः॒ कुतो॒ अधि॒ प्रजा॑तम् ॥ (१८)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
अगले पैरों के द्वारा इस के पिता अन्न को जानने वाला एवं पिछले पैरों के द्वारा पर को जानने वाला दिव्य मन कहां से प्रकट हुआ? यह बात प्रजापति ने कही. (१८)
EN English Translation
From where did the divine mind, who knew his father Food through the next feet and the one who knew the other through the back feet, appear? Prajapati said. (18)
ये अ॒र्वाञ्च॒स्ताँ उ॑ परा॑च आहु॒र्ये परा॑ञ्च॒स्ताँ उ॑ अ॒र्वाच॑ आहुः । इन्द्र॑श्च॒ या च॒क्रथुः॑ सोम॒ तानि॑ धु॒रा न यु॒क्ता रज॑सो वहन्ति ॥ (१९)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
जो नवीन हैं, वे प्राचीन के विषय में बताते हैं और जो प्राचीन हैं, वे नवीनों का परिचय देते हैं. हे सोम! तुम और सोम जिन्हें स्थापित करते हैं, वे लोक को धारण करने में समर्थ बनते हैं. (१९)
EN English Translation
Those who are innovative tell about the ancient and those who are ancient, they introduce the new. O Mon! Those whom you and Soma establish are able to hold the world. (19)
द्वा सु॑प॒र्णा स॒युजा॒ सखा॑या समा॒नं वृ॒क्षं परि॑ षस्वजाते । तयो॑र॒न्यः पिप्प॑लं स्वा॒द्वत्त्यन॑श्नन्न॒न्यो अ॒भि चा॑कशीति ॥ (२०)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
सुंदर पंखों वाले दो पक्षी अर्थात् आत्मा और परमात्मा एक ही संसार रूपी वृक्ष पर बैठे हैं. इन में से एक अर्थात् आत्मा पीपल के स्वादिष्ट फलों को खाता है. दूसरा अर्थात् परमात्मा पीपल के फलों को न खाता हुआ अपने दूसरे साथी को देखता है. (२०)
EN English Translation
Two birds with beautiful wings i.e. soul and God are sitting on the same world tree. One of these i.e. the soul eats the delicious fruits of peepal. Secondly, God does not eat the fruits of Peepal and sees his other partner. (20)
यस्मि॑न्वृ॒क्षे म॒ध्वदः॑ सुप॒र्णा नि॑वि॒शन्ते॒ सुव॑ते॒ चाधि॒ विश्वे॑ । तस्य॒ यदा॒हुः पिप्प॑लं स्वा॒द्वग्रे॒ तन्नोन्न॑श॒द्यः पि॒तरं॒ न वेद॑ ॥ (२१)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
वृक्ष पर मधु का भक्षण करने वाले जो पक्षी बैठते हैं, वे विश्व का विस्तार करते हैं. जो पीपल के फलों को स्वादिष्ट बताते हैं तथा जो अपने पालक पिता को नहीं जानते, वे विनाश को प्राप्त होते हैं. (२१)
EN English Translation
The birds that eat honey on the tree, they expand the world. Those who describe peepal fruits as delicious and who do not know their foster father, they attain destruction. (21)
यत्रा॑ सुप॒र्णा अ॒मृत॑स्य भ॒क्षमनि॑मेषं वि॒दथा॑भि॒स्वर॑न्ति । ए॒ना विश्व॑स्य॒ भुव॑नस्य गो॒पाः स मा॒ धीरः॒ पाक॒मत्रा वि॑वेश ॥ (२२)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
जहां पक्षी कर्मो के अमृत के समान स्वादिष्ट फल समझते हैं, वे ही संसार की रक्षा करते हैं और अंत में सूर्यलोक में प्रवेश करते हैं. (२२)
EN English Translation
Where birds consider delicious fruits like the nectar of karma, they protect the world and finally enter the sunland. (22)
